Email[edit]

Hello ManosHaker. I received your email message, but it seems that your concerns pertain to a different language Wikipedia project. My admin tools only work on the English Wikipedia, so I'm afraid that there isn't anything I can do for you there. Perhaps one of the Stewards will be able to help. —DoRD (talk) 14:02, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User script / gadget wikiArticleWizard[edit]

Hi ManosHacker (talk · contribs), thanks for your work on the User sandbox+ template(s), it's a great tool! During the recent Wikimedia Hackathon in Barcelona, I worked on a user script that works in a similar way, except it allows for slightly better scalability in terms of adding wikis, languages, and working on the article skeletons and categories within even for non-technical users. I have a bunch of documentation to write so people can start using it properly, but the idea is that wiki users or admins can create their own content on-wiki (without knowing code or how to work with templates) and the gadget reads through the article structure and fills in the gaps.

I'd love to hear your opinion on this, and, if you're interested, continue this with your collaboration. The user script is available on mediaWiki, and the full code is maintained on github: https://github.com/mooeypoo/wikiArticleWizard with some tasks that are tracked for continued support.

To load the script in your user page, you need to initialize a config variable that tells it where to look for the article skeleton structure; you can use this in common.js:

// This repository has some example content for testing, but you can use your own
mw.config.set( 'articlesandbox-article-repo', 'User:Mooeypoo/test/articlesandbox' );
// Load the script:
mw.loader.load('//www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=User:Mooeypoo/wikiArticleWizard.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

I tried to make sure that the script is easy to contribute to, despite being on-wiki, so the github clone is meant for easy contribution and testing. In the future, if there's need and interest, we can check into making it an actual extension(?)

Thanks!
