Why did you revert?
I fixed what I thought was a typo on Math ap Mathonwy, and you reverted it. Gwydyon is how it's spelled in the Inkheart reference. Please tell me if Inkheart was wrong. Random the Scrambled 12:37, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- The article in question had several spellings of the name and to add to this these different spellings were also all in the one section I edited. The correct spelling isn't cited either. If you feel that my edit was in error, I have no problem with reverting it. I do however feel very strongly that the spelling must be consistent and the article should also offer variant spellings. Besides, there was no one way to spell a name in ancient times and thus there is no actual correct spelling.MagnoliaSouth 09:59, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

- You still fail to see my point and I still stand by my original sentiment. Your complaint has absolutely nothing at all to do with an encyclopedic article of the show. You are complaining about how the show handled English, but that is for a forum such as Internet Movie Database or some other such forum. The "linguistic issue" has nothing at all to do with the show at hand. Topics on the discussion page are for discussions on building articles, not personal opinions about how a show handles English. Ben Franklin - Writing Systems explanation
A bot recently added a bunch of articles to the Writing systems project. It automatically picked up every article in a number of categories, including Category:Inventors of writing systems. I originally added Franklin there because he indeed invented a phonetic alphabet (see his article). Someone later made Ben Franklin's own category a subcategory of this, so he is still in the parent category as you can see by checking Category:Benjamin Franklin. Because he did work with phonetic alphabets, it may or may not be appropriate to include him in the Writing Systems project, as the bot did... - I see what you mean now! Yes, he did "invent one" but it was more of a toy of his. Actually I was thinking he was added due to his typeset inventions, which is the reason I was confused because it is a print format and not really a writing. I guess it's worth it then to at least explore what it is that he did, but would the writing systems project still be interested if it's not in use, or never was in use? I'm not entirely sure, but I don't believe it ever evolved into a true alphabet. I'm currently reading a book on him, as time allows, and perhaps I'll learn more but I have to admit that this is an interesting idea. I'm adding the project back to his talk page. :) Thank you! The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. When you create a new section on a talk page it's normally best to use the little "+" or "new section" button in the same row as the edit, history, move and watch buttons. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Methodism
Methodists are Protestants, because they are part of Calvinism and not Anglicans. Who cares? John Wesley was the founder of Methodism and King Henry VIII established the famous Protestant Anglican Church of England. Why is this any difference? You got other religions like Presbyterianism, that was founded by John Knox, Lutheranism, that was founded by Martin Luther, Disciples of Christ, founded by Thomas Campbell, Church of Christ, Scientist founded by Mary Baker Eddy, and stuff like that? Hello, I was on the Wiki page for SSBN's and saw you had made an edit as far as the meaning of the Code SS. on the talk page you explained yourself as that it is an acronym, not a code. You are wrong.
I don't blame you for being wrong however because it is a very common misunderstanding. It is one of those things that has been incorrectly retold often enough that it gains the weight of truth despite being wrong. And yes... You will find sources that will also call SS as "Ship, Submersible". Because they have also fallen for the "lie told often enough" IF you will read up on the US Navy Hull Type Classification Codes, you will find that they are NOT Acronyms as you believe. They are just what they are... Codes. Even the wiki article admits they are Symbols or Codes, not an acronym.
Here is how it works in relation to submarines.
SS = Submarine. (Not Ship, Submersible) With out any further modification, by default it means Attack Submarine.
With Modification.. SSG = Guided Missile Submarine (Not Ship, Submersible, Guided) the G is a suffix Code and alters the meaning of the whole code, not just an additional acronym.
N is another Suffix Code which alters the whole. SSGN = Nuclear powered Guided Missile Submarine (Not Ship, Submersible, Guided, Nuclear) B rather than G, means it is a Ballistic Missile Sub, rather than a Guided Missile Sub. SSBN then is "Nuclear powered Ballistic Missile Submarine".
Do you want further PROOF that it is a code and not an acronym? OK... Then.. please... explain to me what the Acronyms, FF, DD, and BB mean? Oh I am sure you will say FF means Fast Frigate. WRONG. FF means Frigate. As opposed to FFG which is a Guided Missile Frigate (Not Fast Frigate Guided)
But what does your acronym theory say for DD and BB? Damned Destroyer? Big Battleship?

the Baseline of each ship type was CODED to be a Double Consonant. BB DD FF SS
Many of the codes do seem to be acronyms, because the full name was taken into account when deciding the code. LSD does mean Landing Ship Dock, and LST does mean Landing Ship Tank. But then explain (if it's an Acronym)... LPD = Amphibious Transport Dock LKA = Amphibious Cargo Ship If you are correct, then shouldn't those be called ATD's and ACS's? They're not. Why? Because the Codes are NOT acronyms.
But what do I know? I only served in the US Navy as an EW, an Electronic Warfare Systems Operator. (AN/SLQ-32) USS Halsey CG-23 (Guided Missile Cruiser, not Cruiser, Guided) USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 (Aircraft Carrier, Not Carrier, V--- whatever)
I hope this will end your wrongful belief that the Hull Type Designation CODES are acronyms.

City Confidential episodes
I've overhauled the List of City Confidential episodes so I could copyedit it, so come take a look and feel free to clean up any inaccuracies I might have introduced. I took the air dates from tvguide.com's listing and then tv.com's listing. The numbering is per the aetv site. There are gaps in the numbering, perhaps for episodes that never made it to air and were abandoned, but I felt that it wouldn't make sense to reorder them by broadcast date considering how mixed the episodes are between seasons. -AngusWOOF (talk) 22:47, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
