Statement regarding George (Joji) Miller's page

I'm sorry if I happen to not be following your guidelines correctly, this is the first time I'm using Wikipedia for this.

Me and a couple fellas were messing around with the George Miller Wikipedia page and sorry about that we were being a bit cheeky, by changing his birthday and saying "we fixed a mistake". However that statement is kind of true because, the birthday on the Wikipedia page is wrong. The page states that his birthday is, "September 18th, 1992" when it is in fact, "September 16th, 1993" as shown here https://imgur.com/a/4rTN5GA . That is a picture from his high school yearbook and it shows his birthday is, "September 16th 1993". Since the page is now on semi protected mode, and I'm not sure how to cite my sources on this website anyways I was wondering if you could fix the page and add in the correct birthdate.

Thanks.173.180.172.7 (talk) 19:56, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) read up Wikipedia:Protection_policy#semi and post your WP:RS source with the template at his talk page. An editor will do it for you. or you can make an account and do that yourself. --DBigXray 21:46, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi I made changes to the article on Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, University of Oxford and you reversed them. I apologise for the lack of sources. Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:53, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 September newsletter

The fourth round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The eight users who made it to the final round had to score a minimum of 422 points to qualify, with the top score in the round being 4869 points. The leaders in round 4 were:

  • South Carolina Courcelles scored a magnificent 4869 points, with 92 good articles on Olympics-related themes. Courcelles' bonus points alone exceeded the total score of any of the other contestants!
  • Hel, Poland Kees08 was second with 1155 points, including a high-scoring featured article for Neil Armstrong, two good topics and some Olympics-related good articles.
  • Scotland Cas Liber, with 1066 points, was in third place this round, with two featured articles and a good article, all on natural history topics.
  • Other contestants who qualified for the final round were Marshall Islands Nova Crystallis, Republic of Texas Iazyges, Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, Wales Kosack and United States Ceranthor.

During round four, 6 featured articles and 164 good articles were promoted by WikiCup contestants, 13 articles were included in good topics and 143 good article reviews were performed. There were also 10 "in the news" contributions on the main page and 53 "did you knows". Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best editor win! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Godot13, Sturmvogel 66, Vanamonde and Cwmhiraeth. Changes to Carole Hillenbrand page

Dear MBlaze Lightning

If you set up the page for Carole Hillenbrand, I am very grateful to you. Professor Hillenbrand is my mother and there were several inaccuracies on the earlier version. She did not get her PhD from Somerville College, Oxford in 1968, for instance. My mother and I updated the page to correct the mistakes and I'm afraid I cannot give a source for some of the new points, e.g. her birth in Southery, Norfolk, UK. Please can you reinstate the earlier version as we spent a long time modifying and updating it!

Many thanks!

RolloMaxeyRolloMaxey (talk) 09:36, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

No, I did not set up that page; I just happen to come across your edits while patrolling the recent changes. Your edits were reverted because they were unsourced and thus not complying with our verifiability policy, which requires that all information must be verifiable to reliable, published sources. If you cannot provide a source for your information, then I'm afraid it will be removed. Now, on a side note, I have removed the claim that Hillenbrand got her PhD from Somerville College for the same reason as I removed your edits. MBlaze Lightning 10:16, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
@RolloMaxey: I just found a reliable source that says Hillenbrand earned her PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 1979 and have therefore added it in the article.[1] Cheers. MBlaze Lightning 10:38, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

PC on wikipedia

What is it with the extreme PC on this site such as wikipedia's pathological obsession with the term african american? it's as if you are determined to use that phrase every chance you get including when it's not needed at all, which proves one more time liberals obsession with race, talking about and obsessing over race even when there is no reason to bring race up. For example the article on the Okinawa rape incident states that the rapists were "three african american sailors." Why does their race have anything to do with it? why can't they just be three sailors? And then you have the nerve to undo my editing and tell me I am fuckin "vandalizing" wikipedia, seriously? You call it a free encyclopedia where anybody can edit (as long as they agree with your SJW narritive) but whats the point if you are going to play god and punnish everybody who you even slightly disagree with? because they edit something to black instead of african american? are you that much of an extremist SJW that the term black is offensive? I cant explain how much i despise SJWs for all these reasons.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.226.123.203 (talkcontribs)

Edit in Best selling girl groups

Hello! I write since i received a message telling me about an edit i did in this article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_girl_groups

I did the edit since i checked the source and some sources are wrong and the sales are fake. I don't care's source doesn't relate with the song and it was the edit i did, but i realized later that Because of you has a fake source too (the sales shown in the source aren't the same sales shown in the article) and the same for I am the best.

I realized these things happen a lot in different articles talking about the discographies or several south korean groups, mainly 2ne1, since there aren't any reliable source for the songs released before 2010 in South korea.

Just wanted to inform about it, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.171.186.89 (talk) 11:18, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

Firstly, you are wrong: the figure of 4.5 million sales is indeed borne out by the cited source. Secondly, please avoid removing reliably sourced content from articles without providing any edit summary from next time. That is frowned upon here and you could be blocked from editing. About reverted edit to List of Stargate SG-1 characters

How does it make no difference? there is a difference, cause I've been objective, besides, not only me think so, I just return the edit which made other user, and this edit it is true cause it was in most episodes, if you didn't see the series, you have nothing to say. So what, you want me to mention in what episodes it was? 89.149.112.243 (talk) 05:06, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

I see that the same edit was reverted as "unencyclopedic" a couple weeks ago as well (just saying)...I have no opinion on this, so feel free to put your edit back in again and see how it goes from there. Cheers. MBlaze Lightning 05:40, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
I think that person reverted the edit even not understanding the issue, if it will be easier for you, I can make the edit from the account, I didn't login, that no one wouldn't bother me from Russian wikipedia. 89.149.112.243 (talk) 06:30, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
Then go ahead. We'll wait and see what happens. —AE (talkcontributions) 06:33, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
It seems that I'm not discussing this with you —AE. 89.149.112.243 (talk) 06:40, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
Lets not respond in a negative or snippy tone like this, okay? Please? These editors are only trying to help you, and responses like this won't yield any benefit toward anybody (including yourself). Also, to answer your question: if you have an account, it's always best to use it to edit rather than log out in order to edit, even if its to other projects. Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:57, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
I didn't want to offence anyone, I just said that I'm talking with other person about the subject, and how I said, I didn't logged in cause here on all projects is general (common) authorization, would be better if it were separated, as an option, to not receive notifications from other projects if I'm not there. 89.149.112.243 (talk) 07:36, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
No offense taken; I just felt that the response above came out as an implication for Abelmoschus Esculentus to "buzz off", and I wanted to kindly and politely put a stop to that kind of tone before it was allowed to become more heated. If that wasn't your intent, then please accept my apologies for the misinterpretation. If you're referring to "authorization" as your global account, there shouldn't be any problem with you using your account here. If your concern is with receiving notifications, you can easily turn that off by changing your local notification preferences :-). ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:59, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Hey Bulldog

The fact that McCartney assisted with the song is referenced throughout the article. Why dont you just admit you don't want anyone to make any changes to your Beatles page, and we can all just move on, and stop wasting everyone's time — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.202.245.164 (talk) 14:18, 10 September 2018 (UTC)

Okay, IP, you're right, and I'm sorry for reverting. I've now put your edit back in...but please do make sure to provide an edit summary from now on. MBlaze Lightning 14:40, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
Well, on second thoughts, it strikes me as redundant, because the fact that McCartney helped finish the song in the studio is already mentioned in the lede, in fact, just next to "with assistance from McCartney". I am therefore going to remove it again. MBlaze Lightning 08:19, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Requested citations regarding the Carl M. Brashear page ~

Mr. MBlaze,

Thank you for explaining why you reverted my edits to the Carl Brashear page. The citations you requested are provided below:

      • <http://www.lrc.ky.gov/recorddocuments/bill/18RS/HJ50/bill.pdf>

Given your status as a member of the Military History WikiProject while a full-time college student, is it possible you served in the military and are now using your GI Bill funds? I’m just curious since you seem to be focused on military-related articles.

Thanks in advance for changing my changes to Brashear’s page back.

Our administration has given me information regarding Mr. Trapp but it will be used in our up coming news paper article. Once it has been released I will be allowed to share it here. Search George Trapp, Corie Blount and Samuel-Sheeck Morris. Samuel- Sheeck MorrisGeorge Trapp George Trapp NBA Stats and High school verification

What other proof do you need? Also why did you take down Corie Blount's information? You can clearly see his name is already in the noticeable Alumni. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coachsheeck (talkcontribs) 09:13, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

  • Hello, Coachsheeck. Thank you for providing the required citations. I've restored your edits. On a side note, if you are the Varsity Head Coach of the Monrovia high school or you have a close relationship with the school, then you may want to look at our policy on conflict of interest. If there is a COI involved, then you should avoid editing the school article, but feel free to request changes on its talk page. MBlaze Lightning 10:26, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

mobile ticketing

Hi MBlaze Lightning, Thank you for your comment. It was my first small contribution on WIKIPEDIA. I understand I have to add references, and I was planning to do so. I will have to learn to do so within the WIKIPEDIA standards. I think the topic is interesting as it is now a million dollar business and a bit of history is interesting. I created a wikipedia personal page with some basic information. I think I am one of a few, propably the only one, who can give some usefull description of the early days of mobile ticketing as I was the one who got the technical task in january 2003 "to look at mobile ticketing" with a commercial guy who wanted to do something with a new, the first, scanner that could read matrix codes from a mobile phone. I had it up and running and went live in June 2003 with an event in a cinema in Echt in The Netherlands.

There are a lot of links with info on the internet. I want to try to give an interesting usefull description with external info links.

Reporting to AIV

Hi. We have seen you recently reporting users to AIV for vandalism when all they had done is write one article about themselves (autobiography). This is not vandalism, nor is it advertisement-only account as you suggested. One article alone is not sufficient reason to block. User has to be coached, and warned. Instead of reporting, please explain to them the issues, and see what they do afterwards. If they do not engage in conversation, and continue the activity ,then we may have something. Hi, you don't need to discuss with me in order to change something in an article. What you need to do is to cite reliable sources for your changes. I hope this helps you.

Home of Juggling

Hi MBlaze, my name is Samuele and I'm the admin of Giocoleria.org - Home of Juggling I start to telling you that my english is not very good and can be seen like "rude", that's not my intention.

Today I've added my website in Wikipedia, and you have deleted it, I presume without looking it.

https://www.giocoleria.org/en/ - The first juggling social network for jugglers and street performers

The website is on internet from 2003, it's the biggest portal about juggling in italy with over 35000 members. We have a lot of tutorials, video, discussions and much more, but we are the first social network for jugglers and 3 years ago we have do a hard work for translate all the site in english.

I hope you reconsider your decision to delete my website from wikipedia, because I think that it's very usefull for all the jugglers.

(it's first time i use wikipedia for messagging and I don't know how it work, i leave you my email address if you have time to reply me: samuele.bonzio[at]gmal[dot]com)

Have a good day! Samuele Bonzio

PS: I really hope you can understand my horrible english... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.247.8.11 (talk) 07:09, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Well, hello. I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner—I've been busy in real life lately. Cutting to the chase: The principle reason why I removed your website from the external link section was, because it struck me as a promotional link. I'd recommend you read Wikipedia's policies on external links, namely, Wikipedia:External links#Links_normally_to_be_avoided and Wikipedia:Spam#External_link_spamming. Additionally, if that is your website, you may also need to take a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. MBlaze Lightning 11:27, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi MBlaze, thank you for your reply. Now I've read all the laws about external link, it took me a while.

I think you have remove the website for 2 reasons, but I can try to explain why I think your decision is opinable.

Yes it's true, our website include the first social network for jugglers, but it's only a features that we are promoting (because it's the first). The site is a portal when you can read articles, where you can use the forum, where you can see weblinks, read tutorials, watch video and much more.

All of that totally free, isn't required a registration. (the registration is free). You need to register yourself only if you want partecipate to the forum, if you want upload photo, video, tutorial, articles or use the social network section.

I hope that explanation can undo the deletion from wikipedia, becuase we think that our website is a really great resourse for jugglers. (we are online since october 2003)

I think that if you spend 10 minutes to surfing in our website you can agree with us.

Have a good day Samuele Bonzio — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.37.211.248 (talk) 11:55, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
