Miss Universe Photos[edit]

Hey Mike, I'm an administrator on wikipedia and I've dropped by to let you know that I deleted the photos you uploaded of Miss Universe contestants. You marked the images as CC, meaning that they were effectively in the public domain, but the miss universe website notes that they reserve all copyrights. You also marked that an OTRS email had been sent to verify this license, but no license was found in our database. I know this seems very "shoot first, ask questions later", but I hope you can understand our position. If you are the copyright holder and it is your intend to release these photos under one of our compatible creative commons licenses, then please accept my apologies. All we need is either a note on the miss universe website stating that the photos in question are released under a CC license or we need you to email our OTRS team before you upload the photos in order to establish the license as well as your identity. If you are not the copyright holder, please note that our non-free content policy strictly limits the use of non-free images and media for living subjects. Use of boldface[edit]

I have removed the unnecessary boldfaces (e.g. Argentina to Argentina) in the Miss Earth 2009 in lined with Wikipedia MOS:BOLD guidelines; use boldface only in headings, sections/subsections, table headers, definition list, and volume numbers. One of the most common mistakes in most articles in Wikipedia related to beauty pageants (like Miss Universe and Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth is the use of boldface when stating the name of participating countries and this is a clear violation with the Wikipedia: Manual of style, which is considered vandalism if one editor would correct it and someone would undo the correction. Hi Mike. Please take note of the following Wikipedia guidelines, as an FYI, as it relate to most of you edits (e.g. Miss Earth 2009):

FYI: When a flag icon is needed more than once, the flag-and-name template, for example {{flag|Japan}}, or its shorter variant {{flag|JPN}} should be used first, but may be reduced to {{flagicon|JPN}} in subsequent uses. However, some editors feel that some tables such as those containing sports statistics (example) are easier to read if {{flag}} is used throughout. See more details in this Wiki link: MOS:FLAG.

Icons should not be added for exclusively decorative purposes, because aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder: one reader's harmless decoration may be another reader's distraction. Hence, avoid adding icons that do not provide additional information (for example, adding a country's flag next to its name may not provide extra information about the subject of the article). Icons should serve an encyclopaedic purpose other than decoration. When icons are added excessively, they clutter the page and become redundant, as in this sportsperson's infobox. Reference: WP:ICONDECORATION

Use italics, not boldface, for emphasis in article text (see MOS:BOLD). See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (titles) for specific usage guidelines.
