first of all, I responded on Salman Khan's discussion site. Maybe you have a look? Second, here are my comments to Khan's trivia section. In order to prevent an edit war, let's exchange opinions.
"Salman is also the new Brand Ambassador for Red Tape Shoes, the brand of footwear from Mirza Tanners Limited, as well as for Dollar Club Undergarments." Stating that a person is brand ambassador for various products is fine, but naming the products is indirect advertising. There are several opinions on that, but generally, I follow all the other articles of Indian actors and actresses and don't name products.
~Ans- Trivia is written with a range of readers in mind who know little about these events, for example a reader in Africa, who would find it interesting to know whether Salman endorses any products. Maybe the brand of footwear from xyz can be deleted, else the fact will be meaningless. (Not all readers have expertise on the subject like for instance, you do)
Perception differs geographically, agewise and several other factors. Encyclopedias thereby include extensive Information about a subject to educate all, Dictionaries however, carry the definitions alone.
This is not about perception or social differences, but about indirect adverising by naming brands. Same debate has been going on with some no-name on Diya Mirza's talk page. Mentioning that he *is* a brand ambassador is okay, but *what* brands, not.
Blue Jeans, Tight Abs: Khan loves tight fitting Levis 501 jeans. He is a dedicated bodybuilder and is famous for taking off his shirt in films to reveal his chiselled physique. Mentioning that Khan is a dedicated bodybuilder is okay, but "blue jeans, tight abs" and "chiselled physique" are not neutral. I'd crop them.
~Ans- The Phrasing means- Khan Loves wearing Blue Jeans as he has mentioned in various Interviews about his favorite outfits, Tight abs go with him while being shirtless.
-Can be rephrased with the whole explanation.

Most Handsome Hunk: Was voted 7th best-looking man in the world and the best looking man in India by "People" Magazine, U.S.A.: Mentioning that he was listed by People Magazine is fine, but Most Handsome Hunk is not neutral and encyclopedic.
~Ans- The reason- He has been cited as the Most Handsome Hunk several times by the media, He has been winning the most good looking Hunk polls for several years, Citations can be found.
In India, The phrase is synonymous to his name, hence it is a part of the Trivia section.
You have to give the guy credit for being voted the best looking Man in India And 7th most good looking man in the world, beating the likes of Antonio Banderas and several others. The fella is a Hunk so the phrasing is justified. We are not writing about a common man here.
Still if you feel the same, I shall wait till I find a citation for you. (yet another link to be added)
He's a Film star and if he wasn't the most Handsome Hunk he wouldn't have been chosen by the People's magazine in the first place.
The People Magazine poll is okay, but "Most Handsome Hunk" or "Most Handsome Actor" is not exactly encyclopaedic, especially since Hrithik Roshan [2][3], Akshay Kumar [4] and John Abraham [5] where also honoured with the title. Besides that, it's POV. There are surely people out there who think Salman Khan to be not handsome at all.
Manages to deliver a hit when counted out. Has starred in the highest earning films of 1989, 1991, 1994, 1999, and 2005. The years are okay, but manages a hit when counted out? That's Point-of-view - not all people believe that he has been counted out.
~Ans- This contribution by a fellow Editor has relevance to the years gone by, when a Hostile Media would be quick to count him out in case of a few failures at the Box Office, and then he would bounce back in a big way to silence them. Of late, though He has been recognised as a Superstar by the Top Industry Critics.

The Title- Prem: After Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman's lead roles have been named Prem several times in his career, Including Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Andaz Apna Apna, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Biwi No.1 and No Entry, just to name a few.
The other Prominent actor is Amitabh Bachchan who has immortalised the Angry young man Titled Vijay on the Silver Screen. A first-name that seemingly stuck to him forever.
People can read: there's a filmography listed with all his character names, so listing movies with him playing "Prem" again is redundant. Also, it's not a "title" like "King", but the name of a character. The comment about Amitabh Bachchan belongs into his article. ~Ans- What I think is, the encyclopedic entry of a film star will always appear to be filmi by default, it cannot look plain jane like a Priest's for Example.
If articles of other actors are too bland, can't help it, Salman's portfolio is naturally spicy.
On the contrary: Encylopaedic articles shouldn't be spicy at all - they should be "plain janes". Read the Encyclopaedia Britannica recently? If the article looks neutral, bland and devoid of POV, it's just right. They are no filmi magazine articles.
"Title" as a Bollywood characters name, not just a character from a normal walk of life.
"King", "Queen", "Mister", "Madame", "Professor", these are titles. Prem is a name.
Amitabh and Salman are the only two actors to have noticably played these Title's successfully for so long. That is why, a joint mention.
I suspect this to show a connection to another well-known actor in order to accentuate another actor's importance. If Salman Khan played a character named Prem xx times, one can state that. In Khan's article. The same goes for Amitabh Bachchan in his article or for Raj Kapoor, who has played a dozen Rajs, or Shahrukh Khan who seems to like Rahuls. If there's actually a connection between the usage of Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan and their popularization of their names "Prem" and "Vijay", it's not merely trivia and desparately needs references.
Without bringing it to the notice of the reader that, He played Prem several times, an Interesting Trivia point will be missed. (The Filmography list is too long to hold attention to minor details) An example also has to be there to support it, that's why I had written a whole History of Prem to explain every aspect of it.
Certainly it will add value as an entry to Amitabh's page, It is a verifiable fact and the readers enjoy reading about these trivia's.
I do understand your point though, the middle path is to sound neutral but not at the cost of verifiable and valuable information.
Will incorporate changes keeping that in view as you might have noticed some of it already.

The article on Tom Cruise has never been featured and if you have a look on the talk page, you will realize that they have problems there, too. And about that blockbuster thingy - even on Tom Cruise' article, the word "blockbuster" has no capital letters.

I think I know what you want to say, but the wording is a bit bumpy, especially, since the Bollywood article has most information about location and everything, and info on the renaming of cities really belongs into the city article:

Problem with the whole Mumbai/Bombay thing is: if we explain every detail that a Westerner might not get, the article gets very crowded. I think a link to Mumbai will do. Khan's page shouldn't explain city names. Information about the entire Mumbai/Bombay thing is included in the corresponding article.
Doesn't sound so bumby and we can avoid the brackets. For information on the city, people have to click on the link. After all, that's what they ar for.
About the refences: For an example, note the references given under "legal troubles". First URL of legal troubes (September 28, 2002 ...) has a large number 6, the next one has a smaller number 1. If you check the the text during editing, you will relaize, that number 1 has a small template included as reference, which provides the date the reference was accessed, title and so on. If you use this template, the reference will be added as a proper source at the bottom of the page. Generally, in articles, this template is used. It's a bit more complicated, but it's more precise. If you add a reference for anything, please add the template instead of the plain link.

Lucky, you seem to think that it's your job to "protect" Salman Khan against the fans of other actors, and that any attempt to tone down the fangush you've added to the article is a dastardly plot by other fans. It is true that in India, people seem to be "fans" the way people in other countries are sports fans ... the film world is seen as a competition in which only one actor or actress can be Number One, and it's the job of fans to build up their idol and denigrate everyone else's. When your idol wins, you win.
That is NOT what's going on here. The editors doing the most work on the Indian cinema articles just aren't fans that way. We like watching movies -- old, new, by many directors, featuring many actors and actresses. We don't care who's hot or who's not. It's all ephemeral. Today's hearthrobs are going to go the way of Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt ... dead, gone, forgotten to everyone but fans of old movies and encyclopedia article writers. Well, in an encyclopedia, the article for Salman Khan should be just as cool and neutral as the article for Raj Kapoor.
You can't just declare your ownership of the Salman Khan article and revert any other edits as vandalism. See WP:OWN. The rest of us have been fairly hands-off so far, hoping that you'd get involved in the project as a whole and learn to work cooperatively. That doesn't seem to be happening. Today its only me, tomorrow there will be many likewise, who will notice the kind of shape that was given to Salman Khan's article, since its inception.
Yours and Plumcouch's contributions to Salman Khan's article in particular can be best described as biased and distorted if not vandalism.
Before I started contributing, Salman Khan's article was described in exactly 4 sentences. And all contributions to it were thwarted by Plumcouch and users like you.
A student who has scored 95% marks cannot be credited with 45% marks, similarly Salman Khan's filmography can be checked at boxofficeindia.com- where you will also find the difference between a Hit, Super Hit, Blockbuster and All time Blockbuster film.
Besides, you can find their entries, definitions in wikipedia and any dictionary or thesaurus.
So where is the fangush/ fancruft? (there are no such words, by the way)
And since when is Indian Cinema credited as Bollywood alone? It is not an official term yet.
I am sorry, but you edits were totally unreasonable and there is only one term to describe it.
However anyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, new or old doesn't matter as long as the content is true and verifiable.

You need to prove that my contributions to the Salman Khan article are non verifiable to begin with. Whereas I can prove it that your edits to the same are nothing short of vandalism.
As far as Indian Cinema is concerned, contributions will follow only after safeguarding Salman Khan's article. I believe in promoting truth and encouraging new editors.
By the way, Raj Kapoor's article is probably one in a very poor shape. Only 4 paragraphs compressing his illustrious career, its a pity.
If this remains the order of Wiki' editors, people will dismiss its claims of being an unbiased encyclopedia.
Perhaps users from the first world wan't to make sure that the third world cinema stays down and thus is sparing no effort to supress its credibilities.
You can be more effective, contributing for American Movies. Think global, act local.

Please also assume good faith in your fellow editors' contributions. Perfection is not required for editors; however, you should generally attempt to integrate new edits into the article through compromise unless they fail basic standards (vandalism, citable inaccuracy, overt violation of policy). Even in these cases, you should still assume good faith (vandalism excepted). Nonetheless, please understand that the whole function of a wiki is to allow articles to grow and evolve, and even our featured articles are still being actively edited. Otherwise everyone ends up wasting their time in dispute resolution, which is usually annoying for both parties. A much easier thing to do is to use the article talk page to discuss edits you find problematic so as to create a consensus as to how the article can best be re-edited. in my humble opinion, you can never have enough references, because otherwise, people can add any nonsense they want. If you have a look at Katie Holmes' article, there is even a reference as to her name (I think we should get one for Salman Khan's birth name, too). She even has a bibliography, and I'm afraid with the references Khan's article currently has, it can be as long as it wants, it'll never reach feautured status. PS. Ah, yes, and about my insistence of avoiding brackets and "/": there are handicapped users of Wikipedia which use Screen reader and the likes (some of these programs are able to interpret anything which is shown on the screen). However, some of these programs have problems to interpret brackets and "/", so I think in order for those kind of programms to "read" and article to their user properly, sentences should have a clear structure.[reply]

yes, I know about the content of the Bollywood article; that's why I deleted the corresponding note in Salman Khan's article, since the Bollywood article was already linked and corresponding information was given there. Salman Khan is a famous actor and lots of information is available on him. The article is most likely to grow and explantions about movie industries only clutter the article. I mean, that's what links are for: you click on them so you don't have to explain everything in the primary article (not to mention the Screen reader issue concerning handicapped users). It's already mentioned that he works in Bollywood - why do you need to explain where it is based and what language is spoken there, if the Bollywood article already explains that? Also, in none of the American actors' articles, it is mentioned that Hollywood is based in Los Angeles and it's language is English. How abou rename it and get rid of the brackets (Screen reader, anyone?), and cut the Mumbai part since it is already in the Bollywood article. Also, in the West Indian Cinema *is* known as Bollywood, just like American Cinema is known as Hollywood. In no article of American actors, there is a not about the base of their industry or the language which is spoken there. ~The usage of brackets is of no exception in Wikipedia articles, Brackets[8] are defined in Wikipedia as well as finding its use in the Screen reader[9] article as well.
There is no proof that screenreaders do not understand the use of Brackets or even a Slash/ [10].
These signs are a part of the English Language, taught to and understood by all special users as well. Wikipedia does not deter the usage of relevant signs whenever applicable.

about Screen Reader and brackets: out of personal experience, I know that older versions and some of the alternatives are not able to interpret brackets, slash, &, *, ~ and the sort of things. Also, including a sentence with brackets that could very well be incorporated into the sentence structure apparantly isn't encouraged. That is why I applied for Third Oppinion that time and corresponding answers are still in Khan's talk page.

Of course I talk to "vandals", though about forty percent, I'd estimate, aren't really vandals, but are just unexperienced and generally mean well. Lucky, I'm not engaged in any vendetta against Salman Khan. He's been in the newspapers for all these things. He's been charged! he's been in jail! It's all a matter of public record. You shouldn't be trying to keep this out of Wikipedia. Since he's a living person, of course we have to be very careful not to say anything slanderous and I think that I was indeed very careful. Times of India, BBC, Tribune are reliable sources. We can't keep baby-sitting these articles for NPOV. Please keep fan-cruft out of here. We are here to write a encyclopedia. There are many other articles that you can work on. Please stop removing criticism section from the Khan article. It is widely known that he had legal troubles. If you keep reverting established editors like Zora and Plumcouch, I will personally block you for disrupting Wikipedia.

The Wikipedia 1.0 Assessment statistics for India related articles show there are 51 Featured Articles, 5 Class-A articles, 16 Good Articles, 101 Class-B articles, 167 Start-Class articles and more than 4000 Stubs. There were more than 10000 unassessed articles related to India.
Welcome. It has been weeks and months since the idea of newsletter was mooted among the WikiProject India Community. This would be our first full-fledged edition of our Newsletter, and we'd like to start by saying we are very happy to have you among us.
This is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips here. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. If you have received or given any barnstars recently, do let us know.

Cartography Department (Shortcut:WP:INMAP): The Department of Cartography within the WikiProject India is a group of wikipedians who work on providing quality maps related to India. Their contributions gain more significance as we try to provide more information on places, districts and states of India. As a thumb rule, maps serve better if they are in SVG format. The location maps by the cartography department has helped us include location information based on latitudes and longitudes for a give place within India. The Indian Roadways map is a featured image, one amongst the few best road maps in the world. Still, there is more work to be done. There are 604 districts in India (see List of districts of India), and each district page needs a map of that district. You can help too. Contact the Cartography Department to learn how you can help in making the best maps in Wikipedia to be India-related!

Name change of cities in Karnataka: A straw poll was conducted on the proposal to change the name of cities in Karnataka, per the Nov 1, 2006 decision by the Karnataka government to rename them from the current anglicised forms. The result of the poll was to change the names. As controversial as the decision may be in the real world, the article Bangalore in Wikipedia still reflects the old name. You may be interested in knowing why. Dig the archives.
New Project Noticeboard (Shortcut:WP:INB):WikiProject India now sports a new colourful centralised noticeboard. An effort to make the noticeboard current and dynamic was mooted a few days back, and Ganeshk came up with the new format. The new noticeboard will strive to be the one-stop shop for all project related information. The shortcut is WP:INB.
Members List: The old members list is being phased out to give way for the new members list. New members are requested to add their names to the new members list. As the newsletter grows, further issues of the Project Newsletter will be delivered to those enlisted in the new list. So dash down now, to check if ur name is in there.

The rating process gains more significance as we try to sort out which articles and which topics need more attention to balance the India related systemic bias within wikipedia. As a thumb rule, anyone can rate any article based on the related criteria, within the Stub/Start/B/A levels. However, ratings for Good Article Status and Featured Article status go through the nomination processes.

Project tagging:After a brief edit war over the addition of {{WP India}} to ancient archaeological sites now located in Pakistan, a "pre" parameter was introduced to remove the ROI flag from the template for pre-1947 articles, following discussion. After another large discussion on ANI alleging that the automated tagging by Ganeshbot and LostBot was "nationalistic", Ganeshbot was briefly blocked. Currently, the bots are again in action.
What is India?:Recently, there have been ongoing discussions here which discuss the stated issue of "India" the historical region is different from the Republic of India. It consisted also of modern Pakistan and Bangladesh, but a search for "India" automatically redirects to the Republic of India. Should there not be a clarification? . This comes in light of clashes on articles such as Panini, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, regarding the status of the individuals.
Swastika on Hinduism templates:Recently, an extremely large and at times emotional debate broke out regarding the use of the swastika on Hinduism templates, given its association with Nazism. As a result, {{Hindu Links}} now contains an educational message about the use of the swastika, as discussion on a more permanent resolution continues.

Translation Department: Can you read and write any languages of India? Do you know multiple languages and are looking to keep your skills at a high level or improve them? If so, the Translation Depeartment may be for you!
The translation department of the India WikiProject aims to utilize high-quality non-English material related to India for the goals of the project. This includes both translating articles from and to other-language Wikipedias as well as assisting contributors with non-English sources. The department aims to provide services in transliteration, formulating scripts for various languages, as well as translating articles from one language to another and validating sources in other languages to that of the encyclopedia article. If you are looking for a friendly translator here is your go-to point. Currently, we are still seeking representation for Kashmiri, Nepali, Oriya, Sindhi and Tulu, as well as reinforcements in all other languages.

Project News
Tag & Assess 2008, an assessment drive initiated by the assessment department began on June 7, 2008 and will be running until July 2008. Many Wikipedians have started contributing to this mammoth task. This housekeeping activity will help manage articles in better way. You can also get involved!
Bot Assisted Assessment was successfully done using Bot0612 in May 2008. 1744 articles (18.5%) of all India unassessed articles were marked if they had been assessed by some other project.
IPL was hot on Wikipedia too!!! During the tournament, the article was among the most frequently edited articles. It is currently the only Indian article in top 100, occupying 58th spot.
Do you know of an article that is currently underrated? If so, please nominate the article at the Assessment Department's request for assessment. This will allow our project to get a better idea of the quality of our articles.

From the editors…
The last newsletter was written a year ago. In June 2008, Indian Premier League was "hot" on Wikipedia, but the article about this year's IPL has attracted 477 editors, or 53% more than the previous year! Even the number of articles in the scope of our project jumped by a whopping 18,500+ articles in an year. The 3.2-year-old India quiz continues to attract old and new Wikipedians, so join in the fun!
Wikipedians are organizing a meetup in Bangalore on July 4 or 5. If you are interested, head over to the page and add your name! Topics of discussion include Indian language editions of Wikipedia and Wikimedia India.

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16.
Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a large scale disruption of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010.
This picture, shot in India, won the Commons:Picture of the Year contest 2009. Translations of the description in Indian languages are solicited.
Wikipedians in Bangalore have been organising periodic meetups over the past year, in collaboration with the Centre for Internet and Society. The next meetup is scheduled for July 18, 2010. Indian and other Wikipedians from all Wikipedias in various languages are welcome to attend.
A discussion is underway here to reach a consensus regarding the use of Indian number names (lakh, crore etc.) in Wikipedia articles. Please participate and add your comments.
Some unintended vandalism is going on at the Assamese Wikipedia by the sole active editor. This is a request for Assamese-conversant Wikipedians to help resolve the issue.
A discussion is in progress here in order to determine whether non-Western (including Indian) forms of classical music should be referred to by the nomenclature of art music instead of classical music. Please participate and add your comments.
Watchlist the Articles for Deletions page for India related discussions. Opinions from more Indian Wikipedians are required in many of the discussions.

After a missed issue, the WP:IND newsletter is back on track to being a regular bimonthly feature. The Indian WikiProject has seen plenty of online and off-line action, both in English as well as other Indian languages, and we now have a bigger, better format that intends to feature content and news from the English as well as other Indian language Wikipedias.
Reaching out to Indians has been the theme of the Indian Wikiproject over the past couple of months, aiming to involve a greater number of Indians in editing both the English and Indian language Wikipedias. To this end, efforts to set up the Indian chapter of Wikimedia have moved into their final stages, and registration of the society is currently pending. An effort is underway to push for "WikiMarathons" at meetups, where attendees will be encouraged to edit the English and/or Indian language Wikipedias. This is intended to popularise Wikipedia editing among the general public. In addition, a bot to post DYK's from the Indian Wikiproject to Twitter was created and launched by User:Logicwiki.
What's New?
Regrettably, the number of Featured Articles has dropped from 63 in June to 58 at the end of October 2010. Several FAs came up for review and were delisted, while Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India was saved. Meanwhile, Chalukya Dynasty appeared on the main page on July 9, 2010. Hearteningly, the number of Good Articles increased from 130 to 136 during the same period, while the number of Featured Lists remained constant at 16.
The date change vandal mentioned briefly in the previous issue made a reappearance when the range block on his IP range expired in September. Consequently the block was extended till September 2011.
In October there was a heated discussion in the India project noticeboard regarding the copyright status of the Indian party symbols. The discussion was triggered by the deletion of Wiki San Roze's party symbol images by Hammersoft as copyright violations. No resolution was reached, partly because of our inability to explain to Hammersoft how election symbols in India differ from party logos. Comments are requested from anyone with a background in Indian copyright law to clarify this issue.
The Bengali Wikisource, which contains the literary works of many prominent writers of Bengali language including Rabindranath Tagore, has crossed the 5,000 pages milestone. According to List of Wikisource page, Bengali Wikisource is now at rank 21 among 56 Wikisource based on number of content pages.
The uploading of Tamil technical words donated by Tamil Virtual University to the Tamil Wiktionary was completed in October. The words were donated by the Government of Tamil Nadu due to lobbying efforts by Tamil Wikipedians during the runup to the World Classical Tamil Conference 2010 (WCTC) in June. Nearly 70,000 words were uploaded increasing the word count in Tamil Wiktionary from 1,20,000+ to 1,90,000+. This has brought Tamil to the 10th place (from 17) in the list of largest wiktionaries and has earned it a place in the Wiktionary front page logo. In addition, Tamil Wikipedians set up a stall at the WCTC and introduced Tamil Wiki projects to people from all walks of life.
The Hindi Wikipedia and its sister wiki projects migrated to the new vector interface on September 1, 2010. In addition, Hindi is the first (and so far the only) Indian language to be incorporated into the WikiBhasha translation and contribution toolkit developed by Microsoft Research.
Mumbai and Delhi held their first meetups in September, where Wikimedia Board members Barry Newstead and Bishakha Datta met up with Wikipedians and other interested members of the public in these cities. A month later, Hyderabad also held its first meetup.

Wikipedians in Bangalore continued their tradition of meeting up regularly at the Centre for Internet and Society, with the nineteenth meetup in September featuring Barry and Bishaka as attendees, and marking the release of the community newsletter. Along with Delhi and Mumbai, Bangalore is reported to be one of the three cities in contention for the Indian office of the Wikipedia Foundation.
The first Wikimarathon, where Wikipedians and members of the public were encouraged to contribute to Wikimedia projects onsite, was held simultaneously at the meetups in Bangalore and Chennai on November 14, 2010. Wikipedians in Delhi also held a meetup the same day.
The Malayalam Wikipedia held several academies in different parts of Kerala over the past few months.

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
