Duckhorn wineries[edit]

Hi Liza, could I ask you to take another look at this edit of yours which once again makes the claim that Duckhorn has eight wineries. I do not believe this is true, and it certainly isn't what the source for that text says. As far as I can tell it is accurate to say that Decoy and Magnitude are not wineries, they are second labels of Duckhorn. That is definitely what the source says. Unless you have a superseding independent source that Decoy and Magnitude are wineries, please revert back to the accurate and sourced version. Could you respond to this, please? It would be much better if you took the incorrect information out of the article - or gave a reliable, independent source that shows that there are indeed Decoy and Magnitude wineries. Edit request declined repeatedly[edit]

Hi Liza Zimmerman, the talk page at Talk:Duckhorn_Vineyards has reached considerable size. Please take a while to read the whole content of the talk page, including your requests, and the community's answers to them. My personal recommendation after all these edit requests would be accepting the article in its current state without making any further similar requests. This recommendation is mainly based on the community's detailledly explained, policy-based reaction to the requests, not on the content of the edits itself. That said, I do agree with the community regarding the content as well, and I may have left the neutral position to voice similar points if there hadn't been enough editors to explain them already.

The existence of the conflict of interest guideline and the paid-contribution disclosure policy are, as you may have expected, the result of many years of problematic edits made by people with a conflict of interest, including – yes, really – Wikipedia's founder Jimmy Wales himself. It would be surprising for me to see that your conflict of interest is entirely unproblematic, and I see no indication of such a surprise.

My request – and I would say "my kind request", but then again, perhaps such a request inherently isn't kind, for which I apologize – is, please, to avoid making any further edits regarding Duckhorn Vineyards, and likely Kosta Browne, including edits to the talk pages of these articles, unless you are requesting (or very, very, very carefully implementing) the removal of factually incorrect information. We are very tolerant of newcomers, but we do expect you to put in a little effort. I'm sorry Liza, I cannot help you on this. I do not think the company is notable and would not approve it for mainspace. Others may disagree, which is why AFC has a number of reviewers who may see it differently and is a good thing. You're welcome to submit it though, I will not take any decision on the draft and am happy to leave it for someone else. However the fact that you re-created it after @Deb and @Bbb23 deleted them rather than discussing it is not the best way to proceed. Thank you for the disclosure re: payment, although that is still a COI and if this is approved you should make edit requests rather than editing it directly. Lopifalko did good work cleaning it up since Theroadislong and Star Mississippi made their comments, and while this would likely be a WP:PERMASTUB, that did not sway my decision. The 'History' section is entirely dedicated to what Kenward did before this company, which doesn't bode well. The Napa Valley Life Magazine and Drinks Business sources both fail WP:INDY. The Valley Register source is hyper-local, and I can't tell how much if any the Wine Spectator piece actually has to do with the company (it appears they were selected by the publication for their California Wine Experience, but so were almost 200 others). The Chronicle source is an interview with Ames, and the D Magazine source was an interview conducted with Kenward over lunch. The Robb source seems to be independent (it has a brief quote from Kenward, but I don't think that's necessarily indicative that the whole section of that article non-independent). The draft's creator states that they are "only editing under [their] own name", and given they've been forthcoming with other affiliations, I think it's reasonable to give them the benefit of the doubt here. Nevertheless, until the draft contains more robust sourcing (the best source I could find outside of it is this listicle from Food & Wine), the subject fails WP:NCORP.

I think that editor misspoke, or misunderstood your question. You don't need to add anything to show you're editng it unless you're making a major edit, for which you could use {{inuse}} but that's more applicable in main space and for "breaking news". If independent sourcing doesn't exist, there might not be anything you can do to improve the article. Unfortunately that's one of the challenges when you're used to a different style guide and audience, which I'm sure you've run into as well in your writing career. It works for wine publications, but they're not usable for an encyclopedia since (generally, not you specifically) you are interviewing the subject for their POV on a topic whereas what's needed here is what a third party is saying. I believe it would be best left for an uninvolved editor. You may not have a direct COI, but as a wine industry writer you're not particularly independent as for whether sourcing is of the standard required for an encyclopedia. If you feel it's ready, you're welcome to submit it and it will be reviewed by an AFC editor like has been done before. It's not that you need to find someone outside the wine industry (although that would help), but maybe someone who has no interest in/familiarity with Tor. Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink could be an option. I don't edit in this area so don't have any other thoughts but maybe someone else watching this will. If you make it crystal clear on your user page that you're not getting compensated for this, it will help because a challenge in general is why volunteers should help when others are being paid for their work.
