Iaidō[edit]

Hi Alex, a good place to ask would be Kendo World Forums, where kendo, iaido and jodo practitioners from all over the world post daily. There is most likely someone living close to you who could supply you with good information.

Wikipedia at the moment isn't bad for information but the articles on Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū, Iaidō and Battōjutsu are currently a little disorganised.

By the way, if you're wondering about the difference between iaidō, iaijutsu and battōjutsu, there isn't very much at all. Different schools and branches of the art use different names, but in Japanese the terms are almost interchangeable, with only very slight nuances. For example MJER, with its many branches and long history, has been called Battōjutsu, Iai, Iaijutsu, Iaidō, Iaiheihō, Iaihyōhō and so on. My own teacher calls what he teaches by about three different names.

Anyway, if you post a question on the iaido section of Kendo World, I'm sure lots of people will be happy to help you out. Oroshi (talk) 12:09, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
