Hutman Artcars

The only mention of the studio is provided because is the originating point of the Artworks. The soul purpose of the page is to record and describe artworks (as in a museum catalog) Some of these artworks are nationally significant all of them are locally significant. Several of them no longer exist hence, the concern that the artworks be recorded and information about them be available to document the history of Art Cars etc. Thanks for your concern. I will be very careful to present only neutral factual information. By the way....I have not been able to find a complete description of how to upload photos. Please send me to such as source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbladey (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your kind assistance. Our cars are mentioned in books, included in television programs. I Shall cite the titles of television programs, books, news papers. Cars have taken part in events and have won awards I will mention the awards. Readers can go and search newspaper archives for the newspaper articles....Eventually I will mention the citations as the individual car information paragraphs are added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbladey (talkcontribs)
I am a Visionary artist....that is how people categorize me.....I can I guess mention that I have had my work displayed at the American visionary art museum in Baltimore? Generally visionary artists are those who produce art yet are not professionally trained to do so and the art is designed to represent a philosophy or idea or "vision". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbladey (talkcontribs)
I have made significant changes. I need a list of everthing that needs to be changed.
thanks again for your time. Note that the page is not concerned so much with the artists as with specific artworks which will be described objectivly and materially only without any opinions other than references to awards, citations etc. The manner of construction, origin of design etc....will be added in for each car. At this time the article looks more like an autobiography because the biography is the only part present. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbladey (talkcontribs)

InsiteOne

I would be interested in knowing why you think the InsiteOne page which was deleted thanks to you was advertising, especially because the company has nothing to gain by advertising; they are not a retail establishment. I suspect this has to do with your lack of knowledge of the medical PACS industry. InSiteOne is too important not to be mentioned; they are the Ford of the digital medical industry. Next time please do some research about the company before arbitrarily tagging things. The article, which was still under construction, will be going up again shortly.

Re: Regarding MLG players

Hi, the reason I put the same reply in all AfD's, is because first all the articles involved were mass-created by one single user, then they were mass-AfD'ed by one single user. The only suitable action for me was to put the same comment in all those articles that I found to be unsuitable, as the same reason was applicable to all of them. Also, I don't see the 3rd party media attention that is being claimed. All I could see were references to either the MLG website or to the USA Network TV shows, which both don't pass WP:RS. -- DJiTH 14:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me to understand how you feel this page is "advertising". We are a state university system office which hosts online education. There are "several" education sites on Wikipedia that have their services and colleges listed. I will make any necessary changes. Please don't delete until I have an opportunity to make changes.

Silicon Dream Page

Thanks for your message regarding the Silicon Dream page. I literally just added it bout 5 mins before you noticed! I've never added a Wiki before, perhaps I should have played with the Sandbox first. Have no idea what i'm doing! I was putting the page up as a placeholder to be honest - i know nothing about the band yet feel they deserve a Wiki. Research is needed!

Silicon Dream

Thanks for the help with the Silicon Dream page. I have managed to find an e-mail address for Klaus Munzert. To my surprise he responded to my mail (I was asking for some information). He responded with:

"Hello, please have look at google, myvideo there you can find the infos. kind regards klaus munzert"

I have responded again asking if he could provide specific links to any information and beyond that whether he would mind answering a few questions via e-mail for us to put on the page. I guess I cannot validate whether it's actually him i'm talking to - is this a problem?

Oh yeh, I agree regarding to word bizzare, it's a 'loaded' comment i guess.

Which article are you talking about? I moved Manchester-centric pages to the Manchester category so that the Hartford County category has pages that either relate to the entire county or relate to towns that do not have their own category. hutman artcars

thanks...I did notice that at the top there have been added a few new entries so I had figured I had been wrong to put mine at the bottom now I know....impossible to grasp the extremely large volume of Wikipedia protocals quickly thank you for being patient I am learning. I am a bit troubled by the hostility for its own sake in the deletion section-not much constructive comment has turned up there-as for notability I have cited non trivial, external and multiple sources-I have in the art car world accomplished all that can be done to achieve notability that should be respected more than it is. I am not the most notable but I have met the test of being notable=Conrad Jay Blade 16:19, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Hutman Artcars

Thanks for your understanding. One of the benefits of coming to Wikipedia as a new writer/editor is that it is possible to provide a fresh interpretation or view of what is being done. So here I am looking at statements like:"strongly discourages" and "multiple non-trivial sources" and I am making valid interpretations.

Much of my time it seems has been spent trying to inform editors that strongly discouraged does not mean banned. This is obvious. Wikipedia may wish at some point to "ban" the practice but it has not as yet done so.

Therefore I have been struggling with the difficult task (which should not be so confusing) of how to self-author a page. I have discoered that citation of worthy sources is the way to go along with avoiding any self composed judgements of quality which are not borne out by the sources. I think I have done this.

I have defined myself entirely with the words of others. I have refined that aspect again more today.

So if you can find where I have said something not backed up by sources let me know.

Self promotion is also a problematic concept. If I read the news but read it myself that is not self promotion even if I am in the news. It is simply stating fact. If it was not sourced as fact It could then be self promotion. It is noted as fact and is written by a non trivial source by someone else. So....complaining about self promotion is shooting the messenger. If the message is independent of the messenger the messenger is off the hook. I have tried to distance myself via utilization of brief quotes from non trival souces and complete citation. When something is mentioned in text I am using the harvard system. I will re do the source listing soon. (putting author name and date first.) but the information is in the source section at the end.)

The vanity accusation is also problematic. How can a person be accused of vanity writing if he does not write about himself? The words of others distance the author from any accusation of vanity. The information is proclaimed by verifiable and cited sources if one thinks this is vanity maybe accuse the sources but again not this author. If the author is value neutral all that is present is fact and facts can not be vanity they are just verifiable history.

There is a time in ones career that one looks at that which has been written and filmed and included in important works that one says hey....I seem to be notable. I am not claiming to be the most notable but Wikipedia does not requrie that.

I hope these efforts help. I am trying to be as quick as possible to respond with quick correctons when I get concrete suggestions that are specific enough to implement. Thanks again for your time and assistance. (wiki needs a built in spell checker my spelling is an unavoidable product of my public school education and I have been spell checker addicted....it is all the time I have here to write what I have written spell checking takes even more so I dont do it often enough)

rewritten article-Hutman artcars

Ok...I should have ovecome the self authorship,promotion,vanity... by removing all but a few brief transitional statements which I have written

I could add a few more bland transitional statements-it might read a bit better- would that work.

I have already written that the article is going to have more content but I am not going to write that until I clear up problems that are on the article already.

There should not be a problem with the information on the page now. It essentially presents what others have written about me with brief exerpts as are necessary can not use long exerpts.....but it gets across the chronology so fulfills the wikipedia need for an introduction.

You are most welcome to insert a few lines here and there independently drawing on the information provided for conclusions and transition. Perhaps that would help. If I write in the conclusions I will have a problem but one way to make it more textual is to say something like "therefore by x year the artist had been recognized locally" or due to this coverage and the artist had become a local figure of note....national.....at the state level.....

Wonder what you think. Thank you for your helpful and constructive criticism. I just dont see why those putting tags on a page do not explain it in the talk including suggestions on what has to be done to correct.

Another almost complete re-write

Greetings-

I have made major changes see the hutman artcars article.

If you find any non objective statement let me know. I have made it more readable and added simple material statements about the artcars. I will soon spell check and add my own photos. Must still find out how to do this efficiently and look up directions again....

I have included external links to my own web pages stating that they are sources of more information but are not considered as such to be part of the article. I have left them as full addresses- must find a rule on this but seems to me more useful for someone printing out the article to have the full address...please advise....

I will have a review/comment section to encourage those who read the article to provide reviews either one way or the other for the article. What do you think of this?

I am concerned that the two artcar artists who have taken part in discussions may not be helpful. See discussion. Check the date they became members and consider writing style and attitude...

Thats about it....at least I have a good piece describing my work which is well sourced for future use.

Hutman artcars-quotes

Greetings again!

I put this on the talk page-

Quotes

I have severely cut back on the quotes but I guess fewer would be ok but they do illuminate the car entries trouble is that while some can be placed with the individual car entry others relate to multiple cars. They do give the reader an idea of the history of the cars and play a role in relation to significance and other assessments. Especially important for this article as I can not make such statements myself I have to use the voices of independent sources. So it boils down to how many is too many and which ones should go and which should stay. And where should the ones that stay be put.

I Invite discussion of this topic here. I am flexible. All of the quotes also appear in the reference section but quotes are hard to look up-one has to go to an online database some where or journey to a library. By having them there the reader is helped to get beyond the basic facts.Conrad Jay Blade 23:01, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

      • As you will understand I must let the quotes of others speak for me. Sort of more than for most authors. But I believe they can be re-arranged. Do you think some would look better as a bottom part for each car entry? This will work for quotes pertaining to only one car-not so well for quotes pertaining for multiple cars which I guess could stay there. The idea is to have enough quotes to get the reader an impression of what its all about so that that the car descriptions dont look so bare. So they are supposed to help readability. Take a look.....

Thanks again for your kind assistanceConrad Jay Blade 23:06, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

hutman artcars

Removed all but four quotes. The remaining quotes seem important to provide a bit of history for the artworks- basically beginning middle and current state. I have left citations of the other articles in the references/sources section.

Let me know what you think- did I take an important one out? Are too many left in. I think four should be a small enough number and the article needs a bit more to it than the car factual sections.

Thanks again for all of your time!

Hi Lee -

I realize SibNet might come down in a few days -

Don Meyer, who runs a large project for research on siblings of disabled people, was wondering about starting it -

I wanted to give him a chance to write something, since he himself is sort of an expert in the field. (The New York Times goes to him for advice on how to deal with disability issues...)

Perhaps he himself would be worth an entry.

Regardless, if it comes down, I'll give him a chance to write something meatier - I only put it up because I was going to let him try to edit it himself...

Thanks for the speedy feedback. :)

Video game wiki

Hi Leebo86, I'm doing a little personal research and I'm hoping you might be able to lend some assistance. I'm thinking about starting a "wiki" like site that is focused on video games. Before I put the effort into creating the site I'm wondering what makes someone, like yourself, want to contribute to wikipedia? I'm very intrigued and encouraged that people contribute to this site without getting something back (monetarily). Is it just the feeling of being able to contribute to something? Is it a feeling of being part of a community?

BLOHARDs webpage

Late last week, I added an article on the BLOHARDs; a New York-based red sox fan group. I looked for the article today, and found instead a message, apparently from you, that it had been marked for speedy deletion. Evidently, I hadn't demonstrated that it was of interest to anybody other than the BLOHARDs.

I was told, if I disputed this characterization, to go to the entry and put a {hangon} tag, and justify the "notability" of the organization in the entry's "talk" page. Unfortunately, I can't find the entry any more, it having apparently already been speedily deleted.

As far as notability goes, I can offer newspaper articles from:

The Boston Globe, on three different occasions: [1] [2] and [3]

Time Magazine's website (three articles): [4][5][6]

The New York Times: [7] [8]

New York Newsday: [9]

The New York Daily News: [10]

And Sports Illustated: [11] [12]

As a matter of interest to you as a Hartford resident, you may note in the last article that BLOHARD co-founder Henry Berry was himself a Hartford native.

In any event, I hope that this satisfactorily addresses the issue of "notability". Is there amy way I can get my article back? Or has it been not just speedily, but also permanently, deleted?

Incidentally, I'm sort of surprised that I didn't get an email pending the deletion of the article. IIRC, I provided an email address when registering for just this sort of purpose.
