Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, Laplorfill,

Just a reminder that any time you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/TFD/CFD/etc.), you need to post a notice on the talk page of the page creator informing them of the tagging. Otherwise, if the page is deleted, they may never know that it was deleted or on what grounds. Admins have access to editors' Deleted Contributions but editors can't see their edits that are now gone. I recommend using Twinkle because once you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator", the program will post the notifications for you which makes things very easy. Thanks for your work! @Liz: thanks for the heads-up. I am using Twinkle and I do have the "Notify page creator" set, so I thought it was sending the notifications. Was there a recent example where I didn't? @AccurateJournalist: I have explained the reverts in the edit summaries. See, for example: [1] where I explain that you calling covid misinformation a "theory" is bias. Then there is this one:[2] where you added your personal interpretations that are unsupported by the source you tried to use. @AccurateJournalist: you added this: "Ethnic minorities are also more likely to be arrested" to Stop and search. That has two problems - both of which I pointed out in my edit summary. First, you need to say who ethnic minorities are more likely to be arrested than. I'm assuming you mean White British people, right? But let's assume you mean than the average of all people in Britain. Either way, the source you link does not support your claim. It clearly shows that Chinese, Indians and Mixed White/Asian ethnicities are less likely to be arrested than White British and than on average. So it is clearly not true that "Ethnic minorities are also more likely to be arrested". You are continuing to deliberately add inaccurate facts to Wikipedia articles. More specifically, please read Wikipedia:Notability (people) which clearly explains the rules for when a person is notable enough to have an article about them. You clearly fail to meet these rules. Jomart Allaguliyev

I noticed your warning on this user's talk page, and I wanted to let you know that I have had trouble with them for a while now as well. I think it is either a bot or a very dumb editor, as they only seem to update short descriptions, and when they do, they almost always simply parrot the first sentence of the article or reduce the description to something that is meaningless. I haven't gotten around to reporting them, but I would absolutely support that move if you decided to. Very, very few of their edits are productive—all you have to do is scan through a random sample of them to see—and they don't respond at all to comments/warnings on their talk page. I would go so far as the tag nearly all of their edits as disruptive. Anwegmann (talk) 20:02, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Dear Laplorfill, thank you for reviewing my article. As it is the first I have written alone, I am having trouble getting it approved. The feedback has consistently been about a) the tone of my article sounding too much like advertising, and b) the sources, which are mentioned to be not independent enough. This being my passion project (I feel in love with the idea of this project and the super cool unconventional measure to 'make the world a better place') I would really like for this to be published. Could you offer any suggestions as to what I can change in order to have my article published? Some of the sources I found are in German, but I also found articles written about the launch of this art initiative in publications like the Miami Herald and other reputable art publications. About the tonality, it could be that my excitement may be making it sound too emotional. I will try to fix it myself, but if you also have any suggestions I would gladly incorporate those. Thomas and Tugs

Greetings. I'm very happy to see you reverting the incessant IP vandalism at Thomas- and Tugs-related articles. It's been inexplicably going on for many, many years and shows no sign of stopping. With Tugs, it's always this same edit where he switches around the credits. As far as I can tell, he's been doing that every few months since around 2011(!) And then with Thomas, I think the 2xx vandal has been at it for the past few months—always this same edit across the episode lists. Hope to see you sticking around! @Beautyscars: if you have permission from the photographer, you need to use the Commons:OTRS system to file a copy of the permission. Claiming that the photograph is your own work, when it is not, is both illegal and a poor choice. I also need to ask you what you mean by "our production team"? What is your relationship to Vance Larena? it sounds like you are employed by/on behalf of him. In which case you have a serious conflict of interest and are likely an undisclosed paid editor. I cannot find a delete button on commons actually. Commons:Screenshots says "Common free web browsers include Mozilla Firefox, Chromium, Konqueror, and Web. Screenshots of these browsers displaying free content should be permissible, so long as they do not include copyrightable elements of a proprietary operating system, other proprietary software or non-free user interface customizations." As this Tor Browser is a derivative of Mozilla Firefox under the BSD 3-clause license, it seems that it is allowed. --Yejianfei (talk) 07:32, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion moves

Hello, Laplorfill,

There should be an option in Twinkle to post a speedy deletion move request. For this, you'll need to state what page will be moved over and then the admin can move and delete the original page at the same time. Generally, administrators are reluctant to delete a page for a move unless they can see what page is being moved over to replace the page that is getting deleted. Liz Read! @1samirpatel1000: as I mentioned when I declined the Draft, you need to do two things:
1. Show that Hud Software is notable. This means that it has enough impact in the world that people other than you have written about it in reputable, published sources.
2. Add reliable sources for the information in the article. Please read WP:V which is one of Wikipedia's core policies, for more informtaion.

Question

You removed the Derek Chauvin section entirely but gave no reason to - the only thing correctly implied by what you said would be to remove the word "alleged" - which you did not. Why? The "Events" section uses present tense and that's why I changed my work into present tense. And where is the bias? I purposely included the word "ALLEGED" to try to remove any bias that was shown because there is some disagreement what killed George Floyd; it will forever be a controversial topic and just because YOU believe something doesn't mean every single person reading the article does. There are multiple meanings to the word "alleged" which I assume you are not aware of, and I was using this definition: "suppose or affirm to be the case". I can tell you don't like Conservatives, but if I really was right-biased I wouldn't have added the section at all, I wouldn't want anybody to remember it. Even if the word "alleged" was 100% biased, you should've removed that word ONLY, not the entire section. That is my opinion, however I shall not express it because I believe (and hopefully this website does too) that any information published on this website should be purely objective. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, and even with the consensus rule in place, there's still no reason for the removal of the ENTIRE event's paragraph. :@Laplorfill: This is where your bias starts to show - you must've not read the definition of the word that I provided. Honestly I really do not care if it is removed, but you deleted the entire paragraph which seems very immature and over-the-top. I don't delete entire articles because someone accidentally let their opinion slip into their writing (which I didn't, as I have previously and thoroughly explained). Supposed/affirmed. Supposed is the perfect word because it refers to how it is believed, not if it's false or true according to it's definition. Affirmed just means to be stated strongly and factually. Yes, we are objective. If someone has been convicted of a crime, in the vast majority of cases we consider that to mean that we can say they committed that crime. The only exception would be is if there's reliable sources questioning the outcome of a trial. The existence of some dissent doesn't require us to ignore the truth (see Wikipedia:False balance). That's why, for instance, we say that the Earth is round, not "allegedly round", even if some people disagree with that. As to the rest: @Laplorfill, would you object to me restoring the entry, with ... the alleged killer of George Floyd, is sentenced to 22.5 years in prison ... changed to ... is sentenced to 221⁄2 years in prison for murdering George Floyd ...? -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 19:10, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
