Heya![edit]

Sorry I didn't go with your block request, I'm kinda tied up in real life, and unfortunately Wikipedia takes the back seat in these cases.

Anyway, I figure this might be a great time to introduce some really useful Wikipages to you. If you ever see someone who's vandalizing pages and hasn't been blocked, feel free to report them to WP:AIV. That page is staffed with at least a dozen admins at any time, so they should be able to help; just follow the instructions on the page. Try not to report users who haven't vandalized more than 3 times in recent time (for IPs, say the last two hours). Warn the users adequately, and if they keep vandalizing, report them. Severity of vandalism is also a factor, but I trust your judgement. :)

Also, if a page is being attacked by more than a few users, you can try WP:RFPP, which will also help you get a page locked for a while (usually temporarily) so that vandals can't reach it. There are plenty of other pages which you'll probably notice in the header bar at the top of those pages, so feel free to explore. In my opinion, WP:AN and WP:ANI are the most useful; if you ever feel like learning some stuff, reading what's happening on those should be very enlightening.

Anyway, cheers! :) Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 03:57, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, you're too sweet! ^_^ Thanks, I appreciate the compliments, and I'm happy to help. But how dare you steal my TOC template?!! Just kidding! I got it off a friend's page, who got it off another person's page, so I guess that makes us all thieves (funny, if you think about it Wikipedia is almost like communism except good). Oh, and I figure I may as well keep introducing stuff to you and tell you about IRC. Basically, there are a few channels (see here for a list) devoted to Wikipedia that you can often get instant help at. Of course, be warned that IRC may send your social life into a downwards spiral, haha. Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 20:04, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you peer reviewed Facebook a few weeks ago. If you have time, could you please take a second look at the article as it is now and post some comments at the peer review? Please let us know if the comments you posted last time have been addressed or not. I would like to bring the article to FAC soon, so any copyediting help would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Gary King (talk) 00:05, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done Congrats, Gary, on an enviable article. =) --LaPianista! 00:31, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've addressed your concerns. Please check it again :) Also, if you have time, a copyedit of the article would be useful, so that a second pair of eyes can go through the article. Thanks! Gary King (talk) 19:15, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to close the PR and submit to FAC. If you've still got time for a copyedit, feel free to do so :) Gary King (talk) 19:43, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done I only found one thing. Good luck on that FAC! =) --LaPianista! 23:14, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sig problem[edit]

{{helpme}} This might be minor, but why does my signature disrupt the surrounding space? I'm...more than a little ticked. --LaPianista! 19:05, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's bigger than normal text, and also has the raised part. They will combine to disrupt the line spacing. Stwalkerstertalk ] 19:09, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well...I kinda knew that. I should have asked how to fix it. I've tried shrinking it by 1 pt, but it becomes very, very small. And I'm quite reluctant to change the font face. --LaPianista! 19:11, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You just need to remove the size parameters to fix it. However, this shrinks it back to normal size, so will become small, like LaPianista!. This does not disrupt the surrunding text, and personally, I feel that it is OK small too, but overall, it's your decision. Stwalkerstertalk ] 19:17, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Note: the css style of this page modifies the sig, so you will need to preview it in edit mode to see the difference. Stwalkerstertalk ] 19:19, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LP! Thanks immeasurably for the artsfish (my very first). I would have replied earlier, but I am lazy and also preoccupied in The World (macro- and microcosmic). Hardly doing anything WPedic just now. I will be happy to give you a personalised answer to any question, since I have never responded to anything of yours at the ref desk. Here is a voucher:

(Pardon my parchment. Clean out of recycled paper.) And here are questions for you: Do you agree that Chopin's Prélude in C♯ minor, opus 45 (the only one with its own opus number), is the most beautiful thing in creation? Well, equal third best, I mean. Why is it not played more often, and celebrated more by the angels?

I'll scrutinise your page. More soon.

Rollback[edit]

I have granted you rollback as you requested, I doubt there will be any problems with you :). You should read over WP:RBK, to make sure you are clear in your understanding of when, and when not, to use rollback. Additionally, you mentioned you were using Lupin's tool, which is a nice tool, but I would strongly recommend you try out Huggle, which is without a doubt the best anti-vandalism tool out there, especially now that you have rollback. If you find you prefer a browser based solution, Twinkle is another option, for Firefox users. Let me know if you need anything, and enjoy 'rollbacking'! Prodego talk 19:49, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting help?[edit]

Hi there, I saw you listed at Peer Review as a copyeditor. I have Madman Muntz up for FA review and was wondering if you have the time and inclination, if you'd mind giving it a thorough copyedit? One or two others have worked on it too, but the FA guys seem to think the prose can use work and I'm honestly pretty mindwiped at this point. Thanks! Nobody of Consequence (talk) 00:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help here! You've made good catches and edits. :-) Nobody of Consequence (talk)

Request for Peer Review help[edit]

Thank you for you work as a peer review volunteer. Since March, there has been a concerted effort to make sure all peer review requests get some response. Requests that have gone three days or longer without a substantial response are listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog. I have three requests to help this continue.

1) If you are asked to do a peer review, please ask the person who made the request to also do a review, preferably of a request that has not yet had feedback. This is fairly simple, but helps. For example when I review requests on the backlog list, I close with Hope this helps. If my comments are useful, please consider peer reviewing an article, especially one at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog (which is how I found this article). Yours, ...

2) While there are several people who help with the backlog, lately I have been doing up to 3 or 4 peer reviews a day and can not keep this up much longer. We need help. Since there are now well over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, if each volunteer reviewed just one PR request without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog. To help spread out the load, I suggest those willing pick a day of the month and do a review that day (for example, my first edit was on the 8th, so I could pick the 8th). Please pick a peer review request with no responses yet, if possible off the backlog list. If you want, leave a note on my talk page as to which day you picked and I will remind you each month.

3) I have made some proposals to add some limits to peer review requests at Wikipedia_talk:Peer_review#Proposed_limits. The idea is to prevent any one user from overly burdening the process. These seem fairly reasonable (one PR request per editor per day, only four total PR requests per editor at a time, PR requests with cleanup banners can be delisted (like GAN quick fail), and wait two weeks to relist a PR request after it is archived), but have gotten no feedback in one week. If you have any thoughts on these, please weigh in.

Thanks again for your help and in advance for any assistance with the backlog. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:57, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh my. Please do not feel guilty - you do what you can and I am sure that all of your contributions are useful - there is this thing called real life too. I just spammed everyone at WP:PRV - was not trying to make you feel bad. Take care of yourself, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:36, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review request[edit]

I saw your name on the peer review list and was so excited that you listed 18th- and 19th-century literature as an interest. I study that area and am busy writing Wikipedia articles in that area. Speaking of, I was wondering whether you had time to review Maurice? It is a children's story by Mary Shelley. I would really appreciate it. Thanks! Awadewit (talk) 02:16, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit[edit]

I'm sorry, you appear to be busy, but I how would you like to copy edit McGill University? It has gone through two peer reviews, has been promoted to GA. And several users, such as (AccuratEdit)(talk) and (The Dover Demon)(talk) and me have contributed a hell lot to this article, particularly AccuratEdit. So, please, take your time and have a quick peek at least at the article. Thanks, --Sunsetsunrise (talk) 12:09, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good copyeditors are in high demand[edit]

Thanks again for your help on Madman Muntz, which has been promoted to FA! As someone noted above, it looks like you're pretty well buried, but if you have the time and inclination, I was wondering if you'd be willing to work on Steve Dahl? I have it at peer review currently. I'm planning on bringing it to FAC in the near future and would like to have it a bit cleaner than Muntz was when I first submitted it. I'll ask a few others as well, so if you're too busy, no worries. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 06:02, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hi there! Do you remember my request? The article has undergone major improvements. Mind copy editing it now? KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 19:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

:O[edit]

That message scared me so much! Thankfully you came back though... I was on a bit of a break, but it seems everything's great now. Ironically, I'm kinda at the stage where you were, where WP takes the backseat on life. Sometimes it hits me in the face that I've got a girlfriend to spend time with, friends to visit, and work to do, and that as much as I love it Wikipedia can't consume so much of my time. I guess it's hard to soldier through, but the beauty of it is that you can always take a break whenever you want and not get called on it, because your life is more important.

Anyway, I'm glad you're back, and I hope life's good!

P.S., you may want to fix your signature; it's leading people to User:La Pianista!, which doesn't exist. La Pianista! should work. Cheers! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 06:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:2008 attacks on North Indians in Maharashtra[edit]

Hello La Pianista, thanks for the copyedits and the comments on the talkpage. I have made some 'annoying' changes after that which I want to explain.

  1. The 2008 attacks on North Indians in Maharashtra began on February 3, 2008 after violent clashes between workers of the (two) political parties—Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Samajwadi Party (SP)—at Dadar in Mumbai, capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra.

I re-added the in place of two since I believe 'between' itself implies 'two'. (I maybe wrong, obviously. My prose has always been cumbersome and grammar bullcrap)

Look at me, a person who couldn't understand anything about prepositional phrases or for that matter its overuse, has the 'audacity' to question and undo your edits. But then this is wikipedia, where kind and proficient users like you have to face inept users like me and have to put up with them by explaining them in detail where they are wrong.

I hope my dumb edits don't put a halt to your excellent copyedits. Please bear with me. --KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 13:25, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

I don't know what else to put on my userpage, any ideas? I deleted most of the stuff that was on there.

And I wanted to start editing articles, but i don't know what to edit.. i'm interested in twilight, but do you have any other suggestions of where to start editing?? ~ California Girl 16:14, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hi[edit]

thanks for the great welcome! ~ California Girl 21:10, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I wanted to ask a favor. I'm going to be going on vacation for about 3 weeks, which leaves my adoptee, Rebel Queen Pokeynut (she changed her username from Princess Rebel) without an adopter. I was wondering if you'd be able to make sure she gets any questions answered that she needs while I'm gone. I know this is a lot to ask, and if you can't handle it or something that's fine, I was just asking because you know her as well, and did want to adopt her. Thanks, ~ Bella Swan? 13:55, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
