Replaceable fair use File:Eddie.Jackson.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Eddie.Jackson.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 01:37, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Jamal.Adams.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Addition of unsourced content[edit]

Please read the WP:V policy, because you tend to add unsourced and occasionally unverifiable content, which makes it hard to verify it. In addition, please also read the WP:OR policy, because unsourced content can be removed from pages if no sources for claims exist. – Sabbatino (talk) 13:42, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Roquan Smith, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. – Sabbatino (talk) 08:10, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

January 2019[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Stephon Gilmore and Julian Edelman are the ones I noticed, it looks like you did the same for a dozens of other articles. You can't just add random text (true or not) without adding citations for the facts you are claiming. This may result in ALL your changes getting reverted. Tarl N. (discuss) 01:33, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A number of your edits have already been reverted by other editors, and there have been complaints about the remaining edits. I'll revert them all. Please read WP:V and discuss any edits you wish to re-instate on the talk pages for those articles. Tarl N. (discuss) 04:34, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
LaDanian1000000, We appreciate your contributions, but I would strongly recommend heeding Tarl N.’s warning. We would strongly suggest adding references to your edits. Verifiability is the crux of Wikipedia. Any content that is unsourced may be removed at the discretion of other editors. I also suggest you take the time to read over Wikipedia’s Manual of Style, which discusses how to format dates, links, names ect. Be advised that this is the only friendly warning you will receive on this matter, as other editors are not as patient. Thank you for your time. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  19:05, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Josh Rosen[edit]

I didn't finish my edit summary in my revert of your edit. What I wanted to write was that standalone subsections, e.g. only "2018" under "Professional career", are generally excessive. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 14:51, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Mahomes[edit]

Player articles are not intended to have game by game recaps. Doing so makes the articles excessively long. Pick your wording when doing it carefully to make sure you’re only mentioning games where either career highs were set or records were set, you’re addition to his article was more game by game recap.--Rockchalk717 14:11, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not exactly. You add extra detail that is not needed and have missed notable things that have happened in both games. For example for week 1, you added “In week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mahomes completed 25 passes for 378 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Chiefs won 40-26.” You just did a recap, you didn’t mention anything special, you didn’t mention that he did without Tyreek Hill on a sprained ankle. So I adjusted it to “In the Chiefs first game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mahomes threw for 378 yards and 3 touchdowns despite star receiver Tyreek Hill getting injured the first quarter and Mahomes spraining his ankle in the second quarter.” For week two, you just said “In week 2 against the Oakland Raiders, Mahomes threw for 443 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Chiefs won 28-10. All of Mahomes' touchdown passes occurred in the second quarter.” Slightly better then week 1 but the score isn’t really relevant for this game and you didn’t mention that he set a new career high or that his 2nd quarter yardage was the most in any quarter by a quarterback since 2008, so I changed it to “In week 2 against the Oakland Raiders, Mahomes threw for 278 yards and 4 touchdowns in the second quarter alone, which was the most passing yards in any quarter since 2008. Mahomes finished the game with a career high 443 yards.” Hope that helps.--Rockchalk717 23:17, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I repeat: The body of player articles are not intended to contain recaps of every game of their career. Please stop doing that.--Rockchalk717 07:25, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summaries[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! UW Dawgs (talk) 23:53, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Endash vs hyphen[edit]

When reporting game scores or W–L records, please use the wider endash character like ("24–10"), rather than the skinnier hypen character ("24-10"). UW Dawgs (talk) 00:00, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Game by game recaps[edit]

As I mentioned previously, season sections are not for game by game statistical recaps. You stopped doing it on Patrick Mahomes but you’ve continued on other pages. Please stop doing this. Unless there was a notable performance in the game (for example, NFL record set, an injury, career high, unusually poor game for a superstar player etc) there is absolutely no reason to include the players statistics. That violates WP:NOTNEWS or more specifically WP:ROUTINE. This prevents articles from being excessively long. So please stop doing that.--Rockchalk717 16:21, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Those aren’t notable performances. Notable performances are career highs, career lows, as well as injuries, or even like I remember mentioning with Patrick Mahomes, a good game by a quarterback despite missing a star receiver. Or even if their performance won them a player of the week award is ok too. Point blank, unless it’s one of the things I’ve mentioned, do not add it.--Rockchalk717 02:40, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

reverts[edit]

Please use the "ndash" character when typing game scores or team W–L records, like ("24–10"), rather than the skinnier hypen character ("24-10"). Another editor above notes that you are adding routine/trivial content from weekly game results. And you are not using an Help:Edit summary.

I have reverted some of your recent edits based on all of the above, as your ongoing edits are creating cleanup work for other editors. UW Dawgs (talk) 18:54, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

Thank you for taking pictures at a recent game to help Wikipedia. However, many of the pictures are very blurry, grainy, and show the back of the players' jerseys, and I'm afraid they aren't particularly helpful to include. We don't want to distract readers with poor quality images that do not add anything to the article. Please see Wikipedia:No blurry images for more information. Thanks! Random games[edit]

Can you please stop adding random sacks and interceptions to players articles? There is no point of tracking every single time a player gets one of these. First of the season/milestone sacks/picks sure, not every single one a player records. This is not a newspaper.-- Yankees10 08:24, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Individual player performances[edit]

I know I have personally asked you on three other occasions, and at least one other editor has asked you to stop doing this. Please stop adding non-notable performances to player articles. A regular season performance is only notable if it’s one of the following:

  • Career high
  • NFL or team record
  • A notable single game milestone (400+ passing yards, 4+ tds, perfect quarterback rating, 150+ rushing yards, 3+ sacks, etc)
  • A major milestone was accomplished in the game (10,000 rushing yards, 25,000 passing yards etc.)
  • An uncharacteristically bad game for a good player (ie, Patrick Mahomes throwing for 125 yards and 4 interceptions)
  • A career first (first touchdown, first sack, first interception etc)
  • For kickers specifically, a game winning field goal or career long
  • A notable streak being broken (consecutive starts, games with a sack, attempts without an interception)

Obviously this isn’t an inclusive list, but you get the idea. Please only include notable performances. And only mention what part was notable. If a quarterback throws for 400 yards you don’t need to add touchdowns, interceptions, and the final score. Thank you.--Rockchalk717 06:52, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rockchalk717, it doesn't look like this had any effect on him. Is it possible he could be blocked for being disruptive/uncommunicative despite being warned repeatedly by multiple users over a span of years? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:44, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: I feel it could be. It would be worth a shot. Maybe @Eagles247: can chime in here since he’s an admin and active in NFL project?--Rockchalk717 19:56, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Hello! I just wanted to give you this for the work you do on here. Keep up the good work. My only advice is to maybe limit notable performances to the standards set above by some of the other users. That way, the work is not done for naught. Really appreciate the hard work. Red Director (talk) 18:15, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Weekly updates[edit]

We don't need to include weekly updates as prose unless something notable occurred, such as being nominated for player of the week. This type of thinking is how we get extremely bloated articles for longtime players. EDIT: I actually see that you've been warned for this just above, so I'm going to start reverting on sight. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:43, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yankees10, still doing it. This editor is clearly not here to discuss this and will continue to do it until forced to stop. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 09:45, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: I'm seriously considering just reverting everything at this point. It's tiring.-- Yankees10 18:04, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yankees10, I pretty much already do. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:37, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Eagles247 can something be done about this editor? He's been disruptive for years and warned repeatedly about it but has made no effort to discuss or listen. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:39, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: I suggest WP:ANI to see what the community thinks. I wouldn't be opposed to a block as communication is required. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:51, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dissident93 & Yankees10 I would support an ANI. In addition to the random game reports, the editor uses poor sourcing (ex: always using a PFR box score even though they don't mention that x player's sack in the box score was the first of his career); odd, almost robotic wording of every addition and using "recorded" instead of the actual applicable verb (ex: intercepted; rushed for z yards); and also has a tendency to undue other editor's game reports when they actually are notable and completely sanitize them of important context ( such as this edit on Niko Lalos). The refusal to communicate, especially when this editor has replied on this talk page before, is pretty concerning. Best, GPL93 (talk) 16:09, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
GPL93, would you like to start it? If not I can but after today's games. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:57, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: Not sure how good it is but the ANI is started. Best, GPL93 (talk) 21:53, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures[edit]

Hey I saw you got some pictures for some football players and I was wondering if you could do that for Joe Judge and the other Giants coaches Bigmike2346 (talk) 05:06, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can only do this on YouTube channels that have Creative Commons reuse allowed on their videos. I don’t think that the videos on the giants’ YouTube channel have this tag. As far as I know, only the falcons and titans have this. LaDanian1000000 (talk) 05:17, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@LaDanian1000000:, what about college football teams? Bigmike2346 (talk) 18:14, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
