Dating schema[edit]

On wiki, BC/AD is not the most common, BCE/CE appears more often, in my experience, especially when articles relate to religions other than Christianity. Also, per the MoS, one should not change an existing style unless there is very good reason. There have been many discussions over the years about this, as it is somewhat sensitive; I'm sorry this was your first exposure to wiki. -- Avi (talk) 00:03, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevertheless, as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Year numbering systems, "It is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is a substantive reason." Furthermore, per many a discussion in the talk archives, it is accepted practice not to use BC/AD in articles that are important to religions other than Christianity. I'm sorry if you find that not to your liking, but it is the current consensus to the best of my knowledge. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 02:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As above, please stop doing this. — Gareth Hughes (talk) 23:48, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
