Kyle, I am dismayed. Do you actually sleep at night? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.7.157.102 (talk) 20:24, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Alberta disestablishments

I noticed your recent edits to the Alberta disestablishments by year categories, such as this one. Although conversion to use of the template is probably desirable, there's absolutely no reason to delete the categories not captured by the template. The original categories were sorted into four categories (eg for 2016): Category:2016 disestablishments in Canada, Category:Disestablishments in Alberta by year, Category:2016 in Alberta, Category:2010s disestablishments in Alberta. After your edits, they were sorted into two: Category: 2016 in Alberta and Category:2010s disestablishments in Alberta (ie - you deleted the former two categories). There's a clear loss of information here. Moreover, there's no reason for edits such as this one, which I've reverted. Please take more care when updating categories. A belated welcome back!

Hi Kyle, welcome back! Been meaning to say that for a while now, and unfortunately my delay has resulted in our first reinteraction being a revert. Do hope you can help me to understand the intention. I think what you added as a description to the category is helpful. One thing in the Oxford English Dictionary definition is the word "indiscriminate". Looking at the definition of that in the OED (and in the much more reputable Dictionary.com ;) ), my interpretation is that the murders of the four officers in the Mayerthorpe tragedy were not indiscriminate. Rather, they were discriminate, deliberate and pre-meditated, returning to the site undetected with the intention to kill all or as many officers occupying his property by ambush. Thoughts? Hwy43 (talk) 05:56, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Thank you, The reason I added the Mayerthorpe tragedy was due to it listed here: "List of massacres in Canada". I completely agree with you he ambushed the RCMP officers, it was planned and pre-mediated. I have since removed it from the list, I am also looking at the others listed. Both the 2014 Edmonton killings and the 2014 Calgary stabbing, also do not seem to fit the list or the definition I added from the Oxford English Dictionary. I'm planning to go-over the list, as well as the Category:Massacres in Canada to fit the given definition. Kyle1278 (talk) 06:32, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
Great. I'll swing back when I have some uninterrupted time to look at it further myself.

Where have you been the last year and a bit? School if I recall correctly. If so, you done now? Hwy43 (talk) 17:15, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Yup, finished up school, hours at my work have been cut due to the dip in oil prices. So I have extra time and decided I would start editing more regularly. Otherwise, life has been the same. What have you been up to? Kyle1278 (talk) 23:25, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
My edit frequency is way down for just over a year now. Busy parenting and working, mostly on annexations throughout the province, and slapping the puck around when I can. What line of work you in now that you are done school? Hwy43 (talk) 17:01, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

I took a bit of computer engineering, but stuck more towards programming, mainly C#, C++, and Java. Dream job for me would be at the BioWare office, but is still need to build up my portfolio a bit more before that. Did some work for the City at the Meadows Rec Center, on 23 ave and 17th street. Right now i'm doing some work at the University hospital. This year winter was dry as hell, I think this was the earliest I have seen the snow pack melt. Kyle1278 (talk) 01:25, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has appointed a committee to lead the search for the foundation’s next Executive Director. One of our first tasks is to write the job description of the executive director position, and we are asking for input from the Wikimedia community. Please take a few minutes and complete this survey to help us better understand community and staff expectations for the Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director.

List of Canadian Tornadoes

Hi,

We appreciate the additions made to the List of Canadian tornadoes and tornado outbreaks page, but please follow correct guidelines when adding new entries. Your recent additions have been undone as some of the dates entered did not match the EC Database, and some confirmed tornadoes in Quebec were removed (looks like the references for those went to a dead end page....a quick Google search of the tornado date takes you to a different updated page. The reference link just needed to be changed.)

Also, when adding new entries, please edit within the decade it happened. For instance, if there is a new entry for 1989, insert the new addition and save. If there are multiple entries to add in 1989, insert each separately and save.

This list is continually getting updated, and thanks to the new EC database released in March, more entries still need to be added for older years. Every correct edit helps!

Happy editing! Suckerpunch (talk) 14:05, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
