An Update of My Wiki-Related Activities[edit]

During the 2007-2008 academic year, I have begun working with my students at the University of Manitoba to create a student-written textbook called simply [Educational Psychology]. My plan is to enlist future cohorts of students to continue revising and expanding the book.

If you happen to be a teacher educator, and especially if you teach educational psychology or some other "foundation" subject commonly taught in teacher education programs, you might find the student-written textbook of interest. In some respects it resembles a Wikibook, but it was created more systematically or with more of a "script" than is apparently the case for some Wikibooks. Nonetheless students have considerable freedom to select topics and to decide on emphasis among topics, and to adopt perspectives as they see fit. Students' choices about these matters, in comparison to the topics and emphasis found in commercial textbooks, are a special research interest of mine, because they give clues about how commercial texts about educational psychology might be improved.

Second edition of student-written "Educational psychology" now online.[edit]

As of February 15, 2009, the second edition of the student-written textbook called "Educational Psychology" is now online. There were a few changes in the procedures used by the student-authors, compared to the first edition; the changes are explained in an article on my home page.
