The Archers characters

It's great to see another Archers fan around. But I have to ask if you have plans to expand the Jill Archer article? There's so much more information that can be added beyond her casting, and I'm not sure if notability has really been established. It took me many months to create Ruth Archer, as I wanted to make sure I exhausted the sources available to me. @JuneGloom07:@Kdog5592: In the absence of WP:WikiProject The Archers... I've just added "DEFAULTSORT" to a bunch of entries in Category:The Archers characters so that they sort by surname. Wasn't 100% sure whether fictional characters were treated this way, like real people, but checked a couple of Featured Articles Kenneth Widmerpool and Pauline Fowler, and they sort by surname. Well done on creating some of these - I had the feeling that The Archers was under-represented compared to a lot of TV series! Meanwhile I've just added a mention of The Academic Archers to The Archers, having spend a wonderful weekend in Sheffield! Nice to meet you both. PamD 15:07, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Neighbours infobox image updates

If you insist on updating the pictures in the infoboxes of these soap opera characters, you could at least make some effort. You remove images that were perfectly fine and crops and centered to the subject, and of low resolution to adhere to the guidelines. You replace them with the characters in ridiculous poses and in the corner of the screen. In addition, as with Gemma Ramsay - she has appeared twice. Gemma was best known for her original stint and that is why she has an article on Wikipedia. The articles are not supposed to contain the latest gossip and photos - they are supposed to contain notable information, they are not only on here for Neighbours fans.Rain the 1 20:50, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Just adding that the image should represent the majority of a character's duration and look, not just a recent appearance. Beverly Marshall is a good example. I added back the older image, as the difference in hair colour between O'Grady and Armytage is discussed in the article, and this is how a number of viewers will remember her. I do thank you for replacing Gail's image, as it is a significant improvement on the old one with her hair obscuring her face. - JuneGloom07 Talk 01:08, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

Rebuttal

The image is from a promotional advertisement which I sourced online. I hate to be petty, because this really is a passing hobby, but the idea of having old images, particularly grainy ones at that, on these pages is ridiculous. In fact, I sourced many of the images you are trying to keep (Lyn etc). Also, I’ve spent 20 years as a journalist, and have a law degree, so know the ins and outs of building articles, as well as copyright. Quite happy to go toe-to-toe on this one.
