Trap

A source has been given for the change to the stylistic origins section along with a comments from other users citing their agreement with the change (in my talk and in the Trap talk page) to the stylistic origins sections of the trap music page.

My initial edit was made in good faith and is only disputed by one user staticVapor who has given no reasons for his (Blanking, illegitimate) Vandalism. This does not excuse the fact that you are edit warring. When in a content dispute, you must stop editing the article and focus attention on the talk page, editing the article only when a consensus has been established. I have stopped K6ka as soon as I saw your warning, as I take it very seriously. I am relatively new to wikipedia and have provided sources as required and achieved a measure of consensus amongst all other users except for staticVapor on the talk page. I have observed the edit wars between 129.178.88.81 and staticVapor and the only individual who seems to dispute the changes is staticVapor himself. Why was user 129.178.88.81 threatened with having his IP blocked, when StaticVapor has made multiple edits with no sources to back up his actions? it seems a tad unfair to me.

Also user 129.178.88.81 did provide a source showing the links between dubstep and trap (see below)

The LA weekly also noted the links between the newer electronic form of Trap and its UK Bass progenitor Dubstep http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2012/10/trap_music_edm_uz_baauer_ugk.php?page=2 stating re Trap "You could basically call it the next phase of dubstep. It plays at a club-ready 140 bpm while retaining dubstep's craze-inducing drops. (That said, eschewing the over-hyped and much-disparaged name "dubstep" is definitely a good PR move.)"

It very much looks like one user StaticVapor has been able to set the agenda, above all other users with regards to the trap music page. I dont want to get involved, but I think you should revaluate your position and revert staticVapor's recent edit and wait until other users except for him, show their concerns with the stylistic origins section of the trap music wikipedia page.

It's still not an excuse to edit war. Edit warring exemptions are fairly rare, and are limited to reverting vandalism, self-reverts, etc. See WP:EDITWAR. Both parties need to discuss the issue first before they edit again. If edit warring ravages, a report at WP:AN3 should be filed. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 19:57, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

about the reviews of the surfs with sense

i think what i wrote on the smurfs makes sense and it obviously says on the critics part, the film was criticized by its script, but the performances of the actors and the voice acting were generally praised even (if i m not mistaking) the cgi animated smurfs, don't you think what i said was correct?

"This is someone's pathetic attempt at..." does not sound neutral at all to me. You're implying that their attempt was stupid, wrong, or otherwise plumply ridiculous. Things on Wikipedia must be written in neutral point of view. My changes to "Dong"

I believe that you're wrong. Wiktionary has no article named "Dong", but there's dong instead. Also, as you would see in the wiktionary article, it's also used as a name for Dildo. @SpaldingTac: Articles for deletion is when the community gets together and discusses whether the page should be kept or not. It differs from proposed deletion, which means the page can be deleted if there are no objections. An articles for deletion is where people discuss what to do with the page, and it either results in keep, merge, redirect, or delete. Anyways, where are you getting these warning messages? Your talk page contains messages with several links that lead to pages that likely have the answers to the questions you have. You should read them. The maintenance tags on the article Intradeco Holdings indicate the article has issues, and is a "call-to-arms" for editors and "You can help out!" sign for readers. If you can improve the article, please do so!.

Decapitation

New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

Hi K6ka, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ #huggle connect!

Major changes:

  • Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
  • Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
  • Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

VisualEditor newsletter—July and August 2014

The VisualEditor team is currently working mostly to fix bugs, improve performance, reduce technical debt, and other infrastructure needs. You can find on Mediawiki.org weekly updates detailing recent work.

Dialog boxes in VisualEditor have been re-designed to use action words instead of icons. This has increased the number of items that need to be translated. The user guide is also being updated.

The biggest visible change since the last newsletter was to the dialog boxes. The design for each dialog box and window was simplified. The most commonly needed buttons are now at the top. Based on user feedback, the buttons are now labeled with simple words (like "Cancel" or "Done") instead of potentially confusing icons (like "<" or "X"). Many of the buttons to edit links, images, and other items now also show the linked page, image name, or other useful information when you click on them.

  • Hidden HTML comments (notes visible to editors, but not to readers) can now be read, edited, inserted, and removed. A small icon (a white exclamation mark on a dot) marks the location of each comments. You can click on the icon to see the comment.
  • You can now drag and drop text and templates as well as images. A new placement line makes it much easier to see where you are dropping the item. Images can no longer be dropped into the middle of paragraphs.
  • All references and footnotes (<ref> tags) are now made through the "⧼visualeditor-toolbar-cite-label⧽" menu, including the "⧼visualeditor-dialogbutton-reference-tooltip⧽" (manual formatting) footnotes and the ability to re-use an existing citation, both of which were previously accessible only through the "Insert" menu. The "⧼visualeditor-dialogbutton-referencelist-tooltip⧽" is still added via the "Insert" menu.
  • When you add an image or other media file, you are now prompted to add an image caption immediately. You can also replace an image whilst keeping the original caption and other settings.
  • All tablet users visiting the mobile web version of Wikipedias will be able to opt-in to a version of VisualEditor from 14 August. You can test the new tool by choosing the beta version of the mobile view in the Settings menu.
  • The link tool has a new "Open" button that will open a linked page in another tab so you can make sure a link is the right one.
  • The "Cancel" button in the toolbar has been removed based on user testing. To cancel any edit, you can leave the page by clicking the Read tab, the back button in your browser, or closing the browser window without saving your changes.

Looking ahead

The team posts details about planned work on the VisualEditor roadmap. The VisualEditor team plans to add auto-fill features for citations soon. Your ideas about making referencing quick and easy are still wanted. Support for upright image sizes is being developed. The designers are also working on support for adding rows and columns to tables. Work to support Internet Explorer is ongoing.

Can you please let me know what the issue is with that info?

@TheProWriter: The issue is that I believed the external links to be a matter of link spam - basically when a mass amount of often unrelated or promotional links are added to an article. I do believe one of the links probably didn't belong there, I believe the "Find a Physiotherapist" one, since Wikipedia isn't the yellow or white pages. The links also appeared to be focused on a single country/region and didn't represent a worldwide view of the subject. If you're citing a piece of information in the article, consider using the <ref></ref> tags instead. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 13:37, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

@TheProWriter: No, per WP:MOS, page titles must begin with a capital and then remain lowercase throughout unless it is specifically written that way, for example, eBay. The Plague, by Albert Camus

A section of the article describes how the novel is an allegory of occupied France and offers no alternative view. It is, therefore, an article that lacks balance. I have tried to redress this by including an opening paragraph to the section offering the alternative view of the novel, but you have deleted the edits on demand of a citation. The allegorical nature of the novel, if it exists, is of a secondary nature, and the article needs to acknowledge Camus' insistence that the novel carry his metaphysical ideas of the absurd as the central, driving force of the work. The incorrect response would be to add awkward commentary above the paragraph, or blank and remove the entire paragraph to replace it with a sentence saying it was completely wrong. Consider raising the issue on the talk page, and then slowly working the issue out with other editors. I have made a comment on the talk page for the article, and note that it is the first to have been made for four years. It will be interesting to see whether, after all this time, one of the other editors of the page gets back to me. Regarding this edit summary...unless I'm misreading what you mean, all you have to do is click the "diamond" in the top right when you're logged in to gmail. That's the mail handler. Tarc (talk) 15:02, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

@Tarc: What I meant was how the "mailto" function was broken in Chrome. When you click on a mailto link in Chrome, nothing happens. I remember mailto links work in other browsers like Firefox and IE. Could be just me being dumb, or maybe I didn't set something correctly in the browser settings. Anyways, I still replaced the mailto links with {{nospam}} in an attempt (and precaution) against spambots reading the email address and then preparing to mass-send crappy emails for crappy products. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 15:07, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
That's what I was saying; it isn't broken, just off by default. :) I have no preference for what the links are on Jimbo's page, that's fine, but when you have a moment login to gmail via Chrome and look for the diamond icon in the upper right. I just tried it on mine a moment ago and once you enable it, it lets mailto: links be usable via Chrome. Tarc (talk) 15:23, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
