Thanks for the welcome message Just H and also for the comments. I have attempted to remove the advertising vibe from the entry but it could probably still use some work. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

110th Congress List[edit]

Hey, that list is really spiffy and useful already! Just wanted to say thanks for the good work on the 110th Congressional Table! Panchitavilletalk 16:57, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've been wondering who to give this picture to - it's too cool for school:

Thinking about it, this is my ideal vision of a Wikipedia administrator. Someone who integrates users with other users, users with parts of Wikipedia, and Wikpedia parts with parts. Hey man[edit]

How's it going. The 2006 New England Patriots Season page is going quite well. Remember to cite references in List of members in the 110th United States Congress and try to make it a featured list if possible (which will increase your chances in your RFA). Your showing consistency this month, and you can try to answer the RFA questions or even more, write out a sample RFA if you like. I will look over it and help you! Cheers! Oh, okay. (plugs in sense of humor which was set aside for RC patrol) :-) Honestly, I just thought it was confusing - some people don't have the text of the test templates memorized (yet?) and wouldn't recognize the joke. Cheers, FreplySpang 17:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please subst warning templates[edit]

When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Will (Talk - contribs) 22:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry but I have returned 2151 to a redirect. There are no pages for years beyond 2065 as there is not much that can be said about these years other than stating any anniversaries, fictional events or predicted astronomical events, all of which are shown on the respective century pages. Hope you understand. Also, 2150 is the page for the book of that name and not the year. Philip Stevens 08:16, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

Are there ways to do without class? I'm confused. That's how I did it above.... Use of the style parameter is modern HTML; the other methods will soon fail to work as modern browsers are updated. As for width:
This table is half the available display width
Try resizing the width of your browser to see how it behaves.

This table is 225 pixels wide and shouldn't resize as your browser width changes.

Please make sure that you have wide consensus before editing our content policies. Thanks. Jkelly 01:18, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please define the wideness of the consensus you speak of. Consensus seems to be wider for some people on Wikipedia than others, which is a shame considering that Wikipedia is generally seen as having a egalitarian reputation (I didn't see a little asterisk with a link to statements like yours next to "The Free Encyclopedia Anybody Can Edit" statement on the front page.)

Sorry, I was just making sure that you knew where the new discussion was, since you commented on the old one. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 23:53, February 6, 2007
I don't think that linking to WP:JOU and calling it "the bible of quotes for all personalities" is any sort of sucking up. That is what it actually is. People on the deletionist side and the inclusionist sides will both cite Jimbo in defence of their argument. Jimbo has a lot of influence (obviously), so people have treated some of those quotes as decreed law. It also formed the basis for WP:UBM. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 21:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We'll have to agree to disagree then. To me, treating Jimbo any more or less important than any other Wikipedian because of "who he is" goes against the very spirit of Wikipedia, and valuing his words for his name rather than the content of the words is just plain sucking up. Thank you for the welcome[edit]

I just wanted to say thanks for the welcome to wikipedia. In the short time I've been here, I've done a lot of anti-vandalism, but haven't yet created my own article. I would like to get involved in expanding any articles having to do with juggling, however I do not have many printed references to include in any articles I may create. I have two questions:

(1) How can I join the anti-vandalism project on wikipedia? (2) How can I expand articles without printed references?

Your comment to the survey[edit]

Hey, I noticed that you made this comment. That is why catalysts, like I try to be, are important to IRC channels. Often, I watch and participate in constructive policy and guideline disputes, discussions about improving and articles, and mostly off-topic nonsense and intelligent discussion, all usually imbued with Wikipedia culture. Furthermore, there are channels intended for tracking recent changes, such as #vandalism-en-wp, which I find essential.

Finally, public logging is intended to avoid making extemporal off-topic comments permanent. If you asked me, I would release my copyright on any Wikipedia-related discussion (permission is required, since it's copyrighted), and most others would probably also. If there's anyone that uses IRC for making binding decisions about blocking regulars, or canvassing RFAs, or making personal attacks, that's not ideal, but that's what I try to prevent: a high channel temperature and culture of a cabal. By the way, have you read the recent ArbCom statement on IRC channel usage? GracenotesT § 23:50, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Question on Chinese Characters[edit]

Hello, if you use Windows XP or Vista there will be Chinese input either PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Macau. I use "Chinese (PRC)" and I type the Hanyu pinyin characters into it and I select the word afterwards. I just typed it into the signature box with "Raw" characters checked. You can type Chinese characters into the Wiki, you won't have any problem. Terence Ong 恭喜发财 04:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why append time zone list to Daylight saving time?[edit]

Your recent edit to Daylight saving time has the effect of appending several lines to the page, most of them relevant to time zones rather than to daylight saving time. It's true that there are two lines at the end that say "Northern hemisphere countries or territories observing daylight saving time (DST)" and similar for the southern hemisphere, but these labels don't have any data associated with them so they're fairly useless; and even if this were fixed the information is already at the start of the page in a more-useful form (the thumbnail map). Would you mind reverting that change?

Comments on RfA comments[edit]

Hello JustH. I don't think it will serve much purpose for me to have that discussion within JuJube's RfA but I still want to comment on your note to the effect that "Pascal, it's the 'crats job to assess the validity [of votes]". While I sort of agree with you in principle, I think this actually doesn't happen much in reality. Furthermore, oppose votes tend to snowball on RfA and baseless oppose opinions on RfA create unnecessary frustration for the candidates. So I've made it a habit of mind to call out the particularly silly opposes as a way to preserve the little bit of sanity left in that process and, hopefully, to change people's habits in the long run. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 13:40, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I most certainly was not insulted by your comments (and I don't think anyone in their right mind could have been). I just wanted an opportunity to say that I hadn't made the comment because of my stake in Jujube's RfA or my personal dislike of Sethdoe92 (I don't really know either of them). I'm not trying to change Sethdoe92's mind about JuJube but we can't let these vague innuendo-laden opposes in RfA stand, especially since a number of people view unfavorably candidates that actually stand up for themselves in such cases. Cheers! Pascal.Tesson 18:49, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. By the way, you probably would fall short of some people's "time in service" criteria for now but let me know if you're interested in an RfA nomination in, say, a couple of months or so. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 18:59, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For Clarification[edit]

Hey there,

Thanks for your comments supporting my proposal to merge the List of widescreen Wii games and the List of Wii Wi-Fi Connection games into the Comparison of Wii Games. As the discussion has become a more formal tally of votes, I took the liberty to add your votes as support for the List of widescreen Wii games and the List of Wii Wi-Fi connection games. I humbly apologize if this was not your intention.

I also added that the page List of Wii games using Miis be merged into the article as well, and updated the table to reflect it. However, as your comment of support was made prior to this addition, I do not know where you stand for this page and as such would like you to cast your vote for this page as well, if you are inclined to. As it stands the List of Wii games using Miis contains less votes than the other two proposals. Thanks again. -Digiwrld1 05:16, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
