TT[edit]

Hi there Jonie and welcome to Wikipedia. Yes that is correct there isn't an article of all the Take That songs, just the singles and promotional tracks that have charted or been accepted as worthy of an article. Can I ask what you have in mind regarding this article you suggest? I don't see any reason why not if it is sourced and not a repetition of the other articles. Are you suggesting something along the lines of this? or something completely different? Best, Yids2010 (talk) 23:15, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, the Gary Barlow Article looks similar to what I had planned, i was going to document each song released commercially against which albums/singles it has appeared on. Will probably work on it in my sandbox may take a few weeks, thanks for the feedback

Orphaned non-free media (File:Waifs and strays cover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Waifs and strays cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. October 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not replace pages with blank content, as you did with this edit to Still Got the Fever, as this is confusing to readers. The page's content has been restored for now. If there is a problem with the page, it should be edited or reverted to a previous version if possible; if you think the page should be removed entirely, see further information. Thank you. Ways to improve (I Go) My Own Way[edit]

Hi, I'm Righteousskills. Jonie148, thanks for creating (I Go) My Own Way!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. I believe this page does not meet notability requirements because it failed to chart.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Your edit at Chamtar Khan has been reverted. Disambiguation pages are never orphans; they should have few if any inbound links. Think before you tag. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 21:47, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:These Are the Days (Ian McNabb single rerelease cover).jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:These Are the Days (Ian McNabb single rerelease cover).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:29, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Bridge[edit]

The thing about our notability rules for musicians is that if you're going to rest a person's notability on getting playlisted, WP:NMUSIC #11 puts that on an entire network rather than just a single radio station. So if he got a song onto one of the BBC networks, then that would pass the criterion, but just getting onto Radio Caroline (a single radio station) does not. But even more importantly, it would take a newspaper or magazine profile writing about his getting playlisted for the criterion to be passed; a primary sourced audio or video clip of the song getting played, or a sworn affidavit from the radio station itself asserting that "yes, we've playlisted the guy", doesn't really cut it.

To pass any criterion in NMUSIC takes reliable source coverage — even if a person technically passes all of the NMUSIC criteria, they still fail the actual inclusion test if the claims that they pass it aren't adequately sourced. But the only sources that were present in the original version of the article were his own website, his own iTunes profile and a Blogspot post (two primary sources and an unreliable one), and that's not the kind of sourcing it takes to get a person an article on here. A primary source like his own website is acceptable for additional confirmation of basic biographical details after enough independent sources have been added to cover off the basic notability issue, but we can't keep an article that's based exclusively on primary sources.

I'd be happy to restore the article to sandbox space for you — it'll be at User:Jonie148/Joseph Bridge — but what it'll take to get the article back into mainspace again is evidence that reliable sources which are independent of him (e.g. daily newspapers, music magazines) have written about him. Hope that helps a bit. Bearcat (talk) 17:50, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation[edit]

A gummi bear holding a sign that says "Thank you"
Thank you for using VisualEditor and sharing your ideas with the developers.

Hello, Jonie148,

The Editing team is asking for your help with VisualEditor. I am contacting you because you were one of the very first testers of VisualEditor, back in 2012 or early 2013. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work better for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.

More information (including a translateable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

Blogspot reviews in articles[edit]

Please do not add blogspot blogger reviews to album articles. Please see WP:ALBUM/SOURCE of a list of publications you can put in articles. Also for future reference, Reception goes above the track listing. thanks. --Jennica / talk 03:33, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Star Smile Strong has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable soundcloud album. removed blogspot review. Couldn't find any notable review or charting information

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jennica / talk 03:34, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. The review site Louderthanwar.com usually publishes a review of new Ian McNabb albums, but hasn't done so far for Star Smile Strong. Can I please request that if or when the article is deleted, it can be copied to my sandbox space first, and I'll then work to merge it into Ian McNabb Discography. DYK for Dad Behavior[edit]

On 5 August 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dad Behavior, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that critics found the couch gag of The Simpsons episode "Dad Behavior" remarkably "grim" and "bleak", as all but one of the Simpsons die during its otherwise familiar title sequence? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dad Behavior. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Dad Behavior), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I see that you recently reverted my edit to University of Chester, where I removed the rather bizarre claim that an institution which only received its university status in 2005 is somehow the fifth-oldest in England. I did see the Times Higher Education article that was being used to support this claim, but felt (and still feel) that this claim has rather dubious basis. Such claims are not unusual: for instance, the University of Manchester likes to promote itself as dating from 1824, tracing it back to the foundation of the Manchester Mechanics' Institute, even though the present institution was only founded in 2004. These subjects are discussed at length in articles such as Universities in the United Kingdom and Third-oldest university in England debate, where it is obvious that this is a complex question which cannot be answered just from a single article in THE.

However, what I take exception to is your edit summary "Wikipedia goes by sources, not original research - this information is sourced" treating me like some kind of ignorant newbie rather than an experienced editor. Yes, there was a source, and THE might normally be considered a reliable one, but policies on citing sources are clear that we, as Wikipedia editors, should not just parrot information from them verbatim. Rather, we should be thinking critically about what the source is claiming, whether it is credible, or whether it contradicts other information present either in the article in question, or on other Wikipedia pages. --RFBailey (talk) 05:16, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to politely ask you not to message me any further - I'm not here for aggression Jonie148 (talk) 05:59, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if the message above came across as rather harsh. It certainly wasn't intended that way. However, I do think that the point about evaluating sources critically is an important one to make. Regards, --RFBailey (talk) 22:38, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
