Thanks for uploading images to the Wikipedia Commons. This is an excellent way to make images available to a broad audience.

Digital 3D[edit]

Hi, I noticed you've been doing some work on imaging / film pages, and thought I'd draw your attention to this. A new user has just created a page Digital 3D (Which used to redirect to Disney Digital 3D). I dont know much about digital standards but to me this appears to duplicate material on the 3-D film page and the Disney page. The locking out of jokers[edit]

Out of interest, what did you mean by "Isn't there some way to lock this joker out?" - is this a recurring style of vandalism you've noticed on this or other articles? The IP address itself only has one other edit, from a few weeks ago. --McGeddon (talk) 16:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If it starts happening multiple times per day, you can request that the page be semi-protected so that anonymous IP editors can't edit it for a while. It doesn't look like it's getting that much vandalism at the moment, though, and getting recurring joke vandalism from shifting IPs can just mean that it was a joke made on a TV show or something, that different people are repeating. --McGeddon (talk) 17:29, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Preview, Group, Summarize[edit]

Please Preview, Group, Summarize

Thank you for your edits on the Stereoscopy and related articles. Please consider 1) Using the Show Preview button (beside the Save Page button), 2) Grouping edits together to avoid clogging the page's edit History which makes it hard for fellow editors to monitor the edits, 3) Describing each edit with the Edit Summary box (above the Save Page button).

Too many small edits bulk out the article histories and make it more difficult to find important edits. Previewing saves some doing and undoing edits. Thanks. Hu (talk) 12:08, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cross Eye 3D image[edit]

If I open up the cross eye image on the 3D article page and attempt to look at it cross eyed, the image is patently 'inside out'. Looking at it in parallel view, it is the right way out. The cross eye image is identical to the parallel view image. But don't take my word for it - they link to exactly the same image. And to prove the point, I placed the following comment on the 'parallel view' image discussion page: "=== Same Image? ===". The poster is using Wikipedia's built in stereo image support. If you look at it in the page it will be normal or cross as appropriate but saving it to your computer will give you the original, normal image.

Fulgurite[edit]

What is the point I having a stereoscopic image? If you want to show variety, a single image of either irregular specimen would be sufficient. --TimL (talk) 12:50, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You could say the same thing about color images, since all the characteristics except color would be apparent in a black and white image which may clearer and sharper than a color image. The flat image would show all the characteristics except the depth. Many flat images are misleading with regard to the actual shape of objects and this is a good example. The more regular of the two tubes looks more like a blade when viewed as a flat image and many people see it that way, but when it is viewed stereoscopically the shape becomes clear.

Stereo images have become common enough to be used in articles not specifically about stereo images just as color images are used in articles not about color photography. The stereo support built in to Wikipedia allows only the right image to be shown by default so that to those not inclined to view it stereoscopically it looks like a flat image but the stereo viewing options are available to those who appreciate the clarity a stereo image offers. [Fulgurites may be classified in a number of different ways, but one of the more obvious is by their shape. Though subtle variations make fulgurites almost as unique as snowflakes, they can be classified into a few general categories.

Tubes: This is the most common fulgurite shape and is what people normally think of when they think of fulgurites. Tubes may be branched or unbranched and are generally rather rough on the outside with bumps and ridges. Sometimes openings are found in the middle and one end may have collapsed, leaving only one open end.

Blades: A blade is a tube which collapsed, leaving a relatively flat formation. Blades are not completely flat, however, and usually have a crumpled appearance.

Rods: Rods are similar to tubes, but, as the name suggests, they are solid rather than hollow. This can occur when a strike has partially dissipated and lacks enough energy to blast out the inside or a tube may have become filled with sand or other material which subsequently hardened. Like tubes, rods may be branched or unbranched. Some rods resemble fossilized roots.

Spheres: If material is sufficiently heated it may melt into a roughly spherical shape.

Irregular: This category is for shapes that defy classification. These can be formed when other shapes fold in on themselves before fully hardening. It is also possible that an already formed fulgurite was hit and partially melted by a subsequent strike. It is even possible that two or more fulgurites were partially melted and fused together by a subsequent strike.]

Microscope[edit]

Before raising an issue on the article talk page, I thought I had better try and discover why you believe that Microscope should be written in American English. The first recorded edit is by Sodium, an editor who says of himself that he is an English doctor in London. The article then goes through very many edits before any words that can be assigned to American of British English are encountered. Eye of a needle[edit]

Hello John,

I think you didn't understand well and some explanation would be useful. I NEVER said that the Jaffa Gate already existed in the time of Jesus. The "Eye of a needle" is a generic name for the little door inside a big one. You can see a lot of "Eye of a needle" in Jerusalem until today. Almost every big door in Jerusalem has a small door inside i.e. an "Eye of a needle". The Jaffa Gate is an exemple of that.

That's the "Eye of a needle" Jesus was talking about. It's important to know that it was a small gate, and not a literral needle. The difference is that a camel cannot enter through a needle in the literral meaning, but a camel can actually enter through the narrow door, although it is not easy. it is difficult, but not impossible. That make a big difference...

The little gate in Jaffa Gate is a good exemple of that kind of small door, even if that gate didn't exist in the time of Jesus.

Scroll down to the Signature section. In the Signature text box I believe you will see this:
