Questions on the wikiquette page[edit]

Hi, you'd asked about some edits you made back in December of 2008. First, I would suggest that nearly everything that was added that long ago has seen some revisions over the years. As you might have noted, you created the article Angelwing which still exists but now is a redirect to Nymphalini. The other common names are also redirects to articles. Given the large span of time that has passed since your edits, trying to determine why any particular section or phrasing has changed is impossible. Hope you'll keep editing! Joe, thanks for the comment on my talk page. Couple of quick notes - first, I'd suggest not putting your e-mail address in your posts for both privacy concerns and to prevent a spam harvester from grabbing it. No reason to make it easy on them ya know! If you want to give people a way to contact you via e-mail, click on the My Preference link (should be towards the top of the page after you've logged in) and check the "Enable e-mail from other users". Editors can then send you e-mails through Wikipedia but they won't be shown your e-mail address. It gives you some extra privacy. Also, when you leave a talk page post, it's considered customary on Wikipedia to sign your posts. At the end of your post, just type 4 tildes, like this: ~~~~ This will automatically add your name and a timestamp to the post. The editor also should have a button you can click that will add it for you (looks like a pen writing a name).
Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about butterflies aside from the stuff kids know. I'm a programmer by trade and my hobbies aren't in that area. The best way for you to start would be to suggest changes on the talk pages of the articles and see what happens. Remember that most people who edit articles like that are also fairly knowledgeable about the subject and might have a different view. Just talk it out as best you can if that happens. Something critical to remember is that information on Wikipedia must be sourced. A couple of articles about that requirement that you might find helpful are WP:V and WP:RS.
Best of luck! Ravensfire (talk) 15:38, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
