Map changes[edit]

Hi Joao. I started a talk page discussion at Talk:Colombia#Map image.

While I appreciate your intent to make the South America articles better ([1]) I do not think it was positive to go and change the map on every article with a new map that you made, without discussing it with anyone. I also didn't understand what you meant by your edit summary in doing so: a better map (if you dont like it well...). This edit summary doesn't say why the map was better and on first glance it doesn't sound very collaborative to write an edit summary like that ("if you don't like it, well..."). It makes it sound like other users have no choice and have to accept what you have put. This is naturally not how collaboration and editing in our community works.

We can discuss it on the Colombia page for now but I would appreciate if you could undo your edits to the other South America articles, given that it is not an uncontroversial change (WP:BOLD). That way, more people than just one user can have a say.

Sorry for the new images, I thought they looked better, I forgot to ask other people if this was fine to change. Also, my edit summary was actually meant to "If you don't like it, then reverse the edit and it's fine." OK, that's fine. Thank you for clarifying what the edit summary meant, I interpreted it in a different way because of what was written, sorry if I came across harsh. Also making changes without asking people is perfectly fine and encouraged according to WP:BOLD. But, if you make the same change across 10 articles... that becomes less of a bold, courageous change and more of a potential disruption to the ability for others to comment. So I guess to clarify what I mean, if you have an idea for a new image, you can maybe test the waters and apply it to just one article and then receive feedback. We will wait for any other comments on Talk:Colombia. seb26 (talk) 17:00, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Amazon[edit]

I'm not going to cite you for vandalism at this time, but I should. You inserted a claim that the Amazon is the world's longest river. It may possibly be, but at best this is a matter of dispute. Secondly, BOTH the sources you had next to your claim say that the Amazon is shorter than the Nile.

Tread carefully, lest you be blocked. Unschool 20:30, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert on the country flags article[edit]

You reverted the article change that I had made on the gallery of sovereign state flags article. I had changed the image display format from a template to a gallery in order to be more easier to edit. I will like to understand why you reversed that. The old design showed larger flags and had shortcuts in every letter (easier to maneuver). I also saw that there were some inconsistencies in the new layout, such as the Azerbaijani flag in the .jpg format instead of .svg and Bougainville being shown as an "Area with disputed recognition", so I didn't see a reason to keep them in the new design.
