Request for photo usage

My name is Griselda Lehrer and I am writing a book called “The Alexander Pantages Story” to be published by the Tacoma Historical Society.

I have served on the board of the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts for 23 years, which has managed the Pantages Theater for the past few decades.

In my book, I will be including brief vignettes on the five remaining theaters still in operation, including the Hollywood Pantages Theater, and would like to use your digital photo exterior of the theater posted on wikipedia.

PD credit

I'm intrigued by your new credit template. If I'm interpreting it correctly, this appears to be requesting reusers follow certain conditions rather than requiring this through legally-enforcible conditions. Do you intend to use this for all future pictures or perhaps just those with no potential commercial opportunity? Have you considered CC0 (here and here)? I'm curious to know the reasons for the new terms.

I have myself considered if CC BY-SA was enforcing something I have no intention of enforcing. I think people morally should attribute the creator of works but if they don't then that's their problem not mine. I'd like people to keep my image free if they reuse it, but do I specifically require them to keep using that CC licence version and wording - not really. So I wonder that strict SA terms may actually prevent some reuse. Perhaps the world needs a licence with nearly no legal obligations but with some expectations? -- Colin°^Talk 09:33, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
