Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your determination and dedication to help the encyclopedia grow. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

Editor Buster7 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

Editor Jetstreamer loves airplanes and anything to do with airplanes. His over 100 articles created on the subject and his participation at WikiProject Airports are ample proof of his interest. His 99.5% use of the edit summary speaks to his collaborative nature and 70% article mainspace input speaks to a willingness to do the work of an encyclopedia creator rather than get stuck in the drama. Jetstreamer has received his fair share of barnstars over the 5 years of activity but is worthy of the Eddy because, as one barnstar stated, "You are a great editor with a great ethic. Another editor noted his "willingness to learn and change your opinions". Work ethic and changeability are valuable tools for an editor to have. This nomination was seconded by White Arabian Filly. Air cote d'ivoire

Jetstreamer you have idea of what's going on in this company stop changing the information about the fleet there is 4 Q400 TU-TSK, TU-TSL, TU-TSI, TUTSQ i work there i can see them every day — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.68.4.176 (talk) 17:35, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

I don't care what you see. We have policies here. WP:VERIFY is one of them. WP:RELIABLE relates to it.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:56, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

There are reference and different sources you don't even try to look at informations if you look at this article which is in french it clearly says that they have 4 Q400 http://www.air-journal.fr/2016-04-29-air-cote-divoire-commande-deux-a320neo-et-deux-a320-5162173.html you should consider to check information first before removing it you are not contributing cleverly to this page you should forget air cote d'ivoire as you don't bother checking info — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.207.216.238 (talkcontribs)

Ecuatoriana de Aviación

Ecuatoriana de Aviación never flew to Brazil or Costa Rica with their own airplanes. The airline had a codesharing agreement with Varig, an former airline from Brazil. And it was Varig the airline that flew to those destinations. For example, you could buy a ticket from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to San José (Costa Rica) in a Ecuatoriana de Aviación office o agency but you had to fly with a Varig airplane. I know this fact because I did it many times. It was imposible to fly with an airplane from Ecuatoriana between Ecuador and Brazil or Costa Rica. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.164.230.175 (talk) 00:38, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Use of templates

Hi! I found that you have removed the current month template in the IndiGo page. I had a similar discussion with User:LeoFrank when he was of the opposite opinion. Refer to the discussion her at User_talk:LeoFrank#Use_of_current_month_template. Need a consensus here as to whether it should be there or not. Can discuss in the project page for opinion as well. Let me know in case if it has been discussed already. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 17:39, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Brussels Airlines

How difficult can it be to simply accept that OO-LTM is stored at BRU and has been so since the incident in Congo and the termination of all activities by Korongo. That aircraft is broken up despite still being officially listed in the register, it is retired, being scrapped (engines, several parts of wings and tail, etc. are long gone, I'm looking at that aircraft (or what's left of it) every day at work) and will never fly again. You can keep turning down all sources claiming it is stored since the incident and even ignore to believe the pictures of the current state of the aircraft, that's not going to change the facts. Maybe just check with Brussels Airlines itself if you don't believe anything else and stop acting like this.

I'll try one last time, you say the airfleets source doesn't support the fact that it is stored (something clearly mentionned by Planespotters, CH-Aviation database, ...), but it shows Korongo as the last operator with the remark that it ceased ops. If airfleets doesn't put SN again as the latest airline, it means it never flew again since operating for Korongo.

How do you expect to be a trustworthy editor of wikipedia if you fail to understand sources like this for months despite numerous people trying to correct something which is simply wrong. What's the point of wikipedia if the information is simply wrong. SN is not operating a 737 in its fleet anymore and it shouldn't be shown. So a broken-up, stored aircraft should be in the list, while long term wet-lease aircraft of BMI and FlyBe operating daily flights for SN can't? Where's the logic... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1810:440C:E700:E8F1:75AB:2480:7412 (talk) 23:10, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Sources shouldn't be understood. Read WP:VERIFY. Material should be directly supported by companion sources. Otherwise you're introducing original research.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:14, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

Reliability of PlaneSpotters

As my previous change in Vietnam Airlines was reverted because you said that source from Plane Spotters wasn't reliable. I found this page Lufthansa, which is the 4th largest airline in the world and its fleet section referred to source from Plane Spotters. I wonder if we can use planespotters as a reliable source for Vietnam Airlines or not because source from ch-aviation isn't reliable (it doesn't match with source from Vietnam Airlines). 0x44616E68 (talk) 07:29, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Planespotters is not a reliable source. You may want to start a discussion regarding this at WT:AIRLINE.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:56, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello. Hence you allow yourself to threaten me blocking for forgetting to source while the information that was written before was also not sourced ? Not only I but then sourced more your threat is too much. --Panam2014 (talk) 18:31, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

Forgetting to source? As far as I can see, you've been editing the English Wikipedia since January 2014. You cannot ″forget″ to apply one of the core content policies.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:43, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
reverting a sourced information is a vandalism. As if by chance, you ask for my version of the sources, but not to the previous which was never sourced. Moreover, when it is not sourced, simply put the right band or seek a source, not to cancel. I do not have to justify myself more. --Panam2014 (talk) 23:28, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
Your comment above only evidences the lack of knowledge in policies and guidelines. I'll lend you a helping hand. You may start reading WP:VERIFY, WP:BURDEN and WP:VAND. Take your time to read them. You are invited to come back later to continue discussing how Wikipedia works.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:27, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

I did not violate any rules in force. So from that moment, you do not have to tell em what I should do. I understand that my information was not sourced at the time . But previous information also was not . Why not have asked for sources? Thank you for your intéressents links, I would be careful next time, but we must not dramatize the situation , especially since the subject is verifiable, you could either find sources you or even ask me and let me cancel without time to answer , instead of threatening me blocking. Good night.--Panam2014 (talk) 00:42, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

All I can say is read WP:BURDEN again. I'm not gonna do your work for you.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:11, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

You had to leave me a message asking me to source , instead of cancel wildly. Because according to your reasoning , undo a change is to do my job . Or you leave for consistency in the state , especially since even the date of December 10 was not sourced and you never asked source . And the blocking threat was abusive and a kind of violation of the rules of etiquette . --Panam2014 (talk) 10:20, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

You already had warnings regarding the introduction of unsourced material into articles in your talk page. You should know about it.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:46, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Put a warning for that is ridiculous and disproportionate. Also, why did not you say to the date of December 10 was not sourced ? I reject this ridiculous trial of intention. --Panam2014 (talk) 10:49, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

You did not follow a core content policy. If you think policies are ridiculous do not edit Wikipedia.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:57, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
No, what 's ridiculous is revoked as a nag free to contact the author and get out of abusive threatening, knowing that the previous information was false and non- sourced . Point. Thank you to stop now . --Panam2014 (talk) 11:05, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
I don't have to contact you for adding unsourced content (i.e, for not following a policy). You had been warned for that at your talk page at least once before I warned you. You were well aware of that. Again, familiarise yourself with WP:CCPOL first and then come back to further discuss this.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:04, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

The facts are there , you have not done your part to contact me and tell me you preferred what is disproportionate. Finally, there are tools to highlight what is not sourced , you could have done for my modification or erroneous date that has never been sourced . You are wrong and your " warning " is null and void .--Panam2014 (talk) 17:34, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

If I'm right or wrong is out of discussion. It was you the one that added unsourced material.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:27, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
This is not the issue . You are totally wrong when you have undo the edit in lieu of asking for source. This is the truth , whether you like it or not. --Panam2014 (talk) 21:52, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
Look, I'm starting to lose my patience as this discussion has become circular. Either you do not understand or you do not want to. You won't face any more troube if you source your changes. I wonder why you do not use the energy you're spending in replying every answer of mine in sourcing your additions.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:59, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
You violated the rules of etiquette. Period. I'm starting to lose my patience. --Panam2014 (talk) 10:31, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
There are no rules of etiquette, they are guidelines. There are policies, and one of them is sourcing your changes. You violated it.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:39, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
Whether you like it or not , the dispropotion for your actions , you have violated the rules of etiquette . I have not broken anything. --Panam2014 (talk) 10:43, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
I consider this discussion as over. I won't spend more time trying to explain you what policies are. If you don't understand that's your problem, not mine.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:06, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Norwegian Air Shuttle

Hey, the new destinations have been announced, but how do I add the specific source and convert it into like this; [number] , on the column? When I copy the source and add it to Wikipedia, that gives me only the link to the website, not like this; [number] . Can you help me how I can edit the link into this; [number] ? Or perhaps I could give you the specific source, since I am not used to transfer sources into a website. Links down below:

At the same time as Norwegian opens three new US routes from London, Bjørn Kjos notifies that the airline expands by flying to India and Hong Kong from 2016." Air Algerie and Air Canada Rouge

Though I will concede that the 737-combi may not have been delivered to Air Algerie, a list on Air Canada's home page and flightradar24 data confirms that C-FJQL has indeed been delivered to Air Canada Rouge. (http://www.aircanada.com/en/about/fleet/fin.html and https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/c-fjql). Unless you have any objections, I will therefore edit the fleet of Air Canada Rouge. Nikola Tesla Airport, Belgrade and Air Serbia

Hi Jetstreamer! I've a problem with the guys responsible for Belgrade Airport's page. They are keeping reverting the change I've made there thought an official source was added. According to Air Serbia magazine (I believe this more that official information) the flights to Hamburg, Kiev and St. Petersbourg are seasonal - citation was added (http://elevate.airserbia.com/Elevate_jun2016/index.html#120). I've made the change 3 times and every time it was reverted. I don't think this is normal! Or providing a source from the airline itself isn't enough anymore? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mashine1984 (talkcontribs) 19:50, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

@Mashine1984: As far as I can see the article has been protected. I suggest to start a discussion at the article's talk regarding the matter. Please note that the page being protected does not mean it is an endorsement of the current version.--

Jetstreamer Talk 20:32, 6 June 2016 (UTC) Hi Jetstreamer,

The page have become protected after I made the change for 3 times and each time providing source of the information - the official airline website. For some reason they have being reverting it... and after that they have protected. I'm kindly asking you to check the source that I've provided and to make the needed change. All I want the correct information to be displayed.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mashine1984 (talkcontribs)

Please define a "Reliable Source"

Greetings,

My somewhat minor edit to Ethiopian Airlines accidents and incidents were reverted with the comment that https://www.planespotters.net/ is "Not a reliable source". I have found that site to be exceedingly reliable.

For future reference, what defines a reliable source? Please advise your reasoning since I do not understand it.

Thanx, Eassa (talk) 23:35, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

The definition of a reliable source does not depend on you on me but on consensus. It has been discussed the reliability of Planespotters many times at WT:AIRLINES. You may want to take a survey at that page and its archives to find your answer. Cheers.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:57, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
I looked at WT:AIRLINES and its archives. All I saw are statements by you on several occasions stating that planespotters is not reliable. I do not see any sort of debate or consensus on the view you expressed. Repeating your view on multiple occasions, with all due respect, does not constitute consensus as I am used to seeing at Wikipedia. Thanx, Eassa (talk) 15:58, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
Do dig further and you'll find comments from other editors besides mine's.--Jetstreamer Talk 18:35, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Málaga WP:UNBROKEN Revert

Just a quick note about your revert of my edit on Air Europa destinations. You mentioned WP:UNBROKEN and I can understand that the link to Malaga leads to Málaga, but I felt the edit was justified since there was a visual change in the actual name presented on the page. If you feel the name should be Malaga and not Málaga, perhaps we should have changed the link to Málaga Airport which appears on the page to Malaga Airport so that there is at least some consistency on the page with the placename? ~ Ablaze (talk) 10:38, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

No, I don't think so. But I feel your question is more appropriate for WT:REDIRECT, where you can discuss whether or not to bypass such redirects. BTW, an edit of the same kind at Aeroflot [1] has been reverted.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:05, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
I've put the question on WT:REDIRECT. ~ Ablaze (talk) 07:43, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Aeroflot special livery planes

Hi,

It's not for the project.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:29, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

What does it mean - "One more post of this [1] kind at my talk and you will be reported.--Jetstreamer"?

Are you threatening me? Are you a God here?

I fixed some incorrect data and added some new. A what was your job? You just deleted all I did....

So, b.t.w.,do you want to write to me, that A330-300 VQ-BCQ is NOT in a SkyTeam livery (as I put to Notes field and you deleted)? Do you want to write to me, that this photo [1] is falsified? Also with other hundreds photos of this VQ-BCQ aircraft around the web? OR do you want to write to me that, what we see on these photos IS NOT SkyTeam livery? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ulafme (talkcontribs) 23:28, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

I meant exactly that. The next time you use ofensive language not in accordance with WP:CIVIL I will report you to an admin. Regarding Planespotters, it is a fansite and it is not considered reliable. I already wrote this above. Use this [2] other reference, directly from SkyTeam.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:40, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
planespotters.net is widely used source in thousands of articles here on Wiki in all languages. It is the biggest, up-to-date, air transport aircraft database in the world. According to your source, VQ-BQG doesn't wear SkyTeam livery. According to your source, VP-BDK doesn't wear SkyTeam livery. Your reference is wrong and you are a liar. There are thousands of photographs on the web (and also on planespotters.net) they prove, that my changes of Aeroflot's article were correct. The changes you deleted! And the same situation concerns Aeroflot's fleet. I proved, that Aeroflot has 5 of A330-200 and 17 of A330-300 by THREE independent sources. And you deleted my chynges! Why? Do you own the Aeroflot's article? Are you the only person who can make changes there? Or are you an owner of Wikipedia? If you want, report me...--Ulafme (talk) 14:02, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
Planespotters is not a reliable source regardless of what you say and the number of articles the reference is used in. You may want to start a discussion at WT:AIRLINES to check by yourself what I say. And four your information, images are generally not reliable sources.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:41, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

Little reply

On Village Pump you said: Separately, nobody is commenting on the way Ulafme approached me at my talk. Not doing so may give them the wrong impression they did it the right way when they actually did not. Neither I see them mentioning it. You probably mean the vulgar language Ulafme used. Believe me, we all on Czech Wikipedia criticized him for this and he started to be a little bit choleric on Czech help forum, therefore I asked on Village Pump here for help. I hope disputes between both of you and him will solve in a near future. --Dvorapa (talk) 17:27, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

@Sunnya343:I'd be happy to help, but what's exactly the matter? It's hard for me to figure it out from the discussion at your talk.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:40, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
There is this website that the other user claims is the official website for Kolkata Airport. Thus he wants to list that website on the Wiki article and include its logo in the infobox. I put a list at the bottom of the discussion explaining how this looks to be just a fan's site. (This user also says that even if the website is not official, there is no problem in using its logo just for the sake of having a logo on the Wiki article. Which is obviously wrong.) - ✈Sunnya343✈ (talk) 01:20, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. ANI continuation

I wanted someone to make a difference between both behaviours. I've never used uncivil language.

I recognize the difference, and I said so. I have no doubt others recognize the difference, while yet others wonder what all the fuss over words is about. The main point is that you can't really bring an ANI complaint unless your hands are clean—unless you did everything right—and the first thing to do right is "don't edit war". WP:DR details the alternatives. All of those options take longer, but there's no urgency. Anything but edit warring, and ANI should be a last resort.
Most of us need to work on dialing back the adrenaline when editing (and testosterone probably doesn't help).

This user is aware that, in the end, it's only Wikipedia.

the book "Erebus" adn the Erebus crash

Regarding your deletion of the mention of the book "Erebus" from the Erebus crash page: I have the book physically in hand, I have read it. It is a tribute to a victim and an in-depth study of the tragedy. What more references do you need? Travel guide information?

You recently removed information from Turkish Airlines stating the WP:NOTRAVEL policy of which I am well aware. However, the information given has nothing to do with travel guide information but describes the aftermath of the coup d'etat attempt and how it affects the airline - there wasn't even routes or dates mentioned. I reworked the section and added additional sources explaining the just announced record loss and decline in passenger traffic due to the political situation. It hopes that makes clearer that this is not supposed to be guide information (which it clearly isn't according to the policy you quoted yourself). Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.244.159.82 (talk) 16:23, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 350 articles in just six days. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thankyou. Airport database

Hello Jetstreamer, I wanted to check if you know how to retrieve an airport database from ICAO or IATA. There are a lot of discrepancies in the names of Indian airports. For eg, Mangalore Airport (India) has been unanimously moved to Mangalore International Airport, AFAIK, there is no change in the name of the airport till date, but AAI website now displays the name as Mangaluru Airport. AAI website is actually factually wrong with airport names for many airports like BLR is listed as Bangalore International Airport wherein the official name is Kempegowda International Airport. Retrieving such database would really clear all the edit wars that take place wrt the names of the airports in India. Thanks,  LeoFrank  Talk 11:45, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Airlines and destinations tables

Hello, I noticed you were leaning against the Airlines and destinations tables in airport articles. I have noticed some others feel the same way, including myself. Do you think we should have another discussion at WT:AIRPORTS; or should we take this higher, e.g. have an RfC? I was thinking about the following argument:

  • Wikipedia is not a travel guide with up-to-date lists of places a person can fly to from a particular airport. WP:NOTTRAVEL
  • The lists are changing regularly and are difficult to maintain. Some airports have so many airlines with so many destinations, it can be difficult to keep track of which still operate and which do not. As a consequence, the lists may be out of date; but this is not indicated with an "As of xxx" statement (nor would this be feasible with so many airlines).
    • For example, Jiangxi Air's destinations are only accurate as of September 2016; but the airport tables do not reflect this.
  • The existing consensus is that there is an implicit reference for the information in the tables: the airlines' timetables. But how can the average reader be able to quickly find and verify this information, for so many airlines and destinations? And does the reader need to know every single destination served? WP:VERIFY
    • Especially in Indian airport articles, new destinations are often added without references – the timetable shows them, but there are no news articles, etc. that confirm it. A reader has to go into the timetable, set the origin/destination and the date – and, what if the destination appears at some earlier date? Imagine checking each prior date for that.

All in all, the tables are a hassle to maintain; and it is difficult for a reader to verify the information. In addition, I don't believe the reader needs to know every single destination served from an airport. As an alternative, I think mentioning only notable airlines (e.g. airlines hubbed at the airport) and notable destinations (e.g. an airport's only international destination) is enough.

Should anything be added/deleted/changed? — Sunnya343✈ (háblamemy work) 02:41, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

One way to avoid being a travel guide is to remove the lists of destinations served and to keep the airlines serving any given airport only.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:36, 10 December 2016 (UTC)
That sounds good. For example, it was easy to update the destinations for Air Guilin by looking at the list in the schedule; but clicking on each city, noting which destinations served, then putting that in the airport articles' tables – too much. I wonder how many of these tables for Chinese airports and the like are entirely outdated by now. — Sunnya343✈ (háblamemy work) 04:14, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Editor of the Week seeking nominations (and a new facilitator)

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

In addition, the WikiProject is seeking a new facilitator/coordinator to handle the logistics of the award. Please contact L235 if you are interested in helping with the logistics of running the award in any capacity. Remove your name from here to unsubscribe from further EotW-related messages. Aviation Stubs

Hi, the reason I add stub tags articles (especially ones that can be added to with translation of a different article) is b/c 1)Some are, by definition, stubs 2)they are flagged as aviation accident stubs so they have a greater chance of being lengthened 3)they can easily be found in Category:Aviation accident stubs to await addition 4)People like me can find them in such category and edit them when translation of other article or source is available. Currently searching for somebody who is very fluent in Russian to complete Aeroflot crash articles, and an EgyptAir crash article. I do eventually ad to the articles, putting them in the stub category helps me find what needs expansion. For example, I edited Aeroflot Flight 3843 to a point it was no longer a stub b/c in was in the category PlanespotterA320 (talk) 13:48, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

BA destinations edit

Per your diff here, can you please explain why you are violating the long-standing WP policy at WP:DERRY? Regardless of the reference may say, the city is referred to as Derry on Wikipedia and the county is referred to as Londonderry. We are discussing BA's destinations and the reference says Londonderry, but we aren't quoting from the reference, and to promote consistency, we should use Derry per the MOS. --st170e 13:17, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

@St170e: I'm not against the use of Derry if there's an explanatory note. As you said, Londonderry is the name supported by the source (and not Derry) so there's no violation to WP:VERIFY, which requires material to be directly supported by the reference. Please also note that even though Londonderry is visible in the article there's a piped link that links to Derry. I think this is not a violation to WP:DERRY either.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:18, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your reply! If we use Londonderry for every source we use on WP, there would be a lack of consistency which is why I changed it initially (the MOS aims for consistency too). It is still the same city, it's just that (for the name controversy), there are guidelines for how we should avoid controversies like this. The source still backs the reference up anyway, regardless of the name. st170e 15:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
@St170e: As I said above, I'm not against the use of Derry but the source does not directly support it. Does an explanatory note work for you if you change it back to Derry? Or maybe a hidden note so we do not disrupt the article?--Jetstreamer Talk 16:39, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
That's fine with me, an explanatory note would be good to explain that Londonderry is used in the source. --st170e 18:41, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

In the first place you unexplainedly deleted the {{Dts}} format in the destinations table. Secondly, this table was up to date until October 2016 as the supporting source was last acceesed that month. Finally, the number of destinations is six until new routes are opened. Regarding the first item, you should not modify templates in articles until you gain experience on it. In most of the cases they do have a purpose. @Jetstreamer: Hi there, Thank You for telling me the reason for my edit. :) By the way, what do you think about my edits on Wikipedia? Need explanation or good work? Thank You! FlyJet777 (talk) 05:58, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
I've surveyed on them and they are good. What I like most is that you source all of your edits. Keep up the good work!--Jetstreamer Talk 13:28, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
@Jetstreamer: Thank You very much for the complement. :) I will always provide source for every content I edit on Wiki. By the way.... Are you an administrator? FlyJet777 (talk) 18:04, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
No, I'm not an admin. One more thing: there's no need to ping me if you contact me at my talk.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:06, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi ! I add information about Bul Air wich is a new Bulgaria Air charter brand since 2016 like Aviolet and Air Serbia. I add correct references but the edit is deleted. I post here because from this summer season Bulgaria Air will be add 4 more aircraft to Bul Air fleet: 1 737-400 from Cargoair (who is waiting for conversion to cargo version and for summer season will be operated for Bul Air) and 3 737 retired from Enter. Bul Air fleet will be increase to 6 aircrafts. Also I edit section of Bulgaria Air charter destionations and information is deleted. I will be glad to discusion the page. I reverted this [13] edit because it introduced unsourced changes. You should source your modifications.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:38, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Reversion Air Mauritius Destination, Amsterdam

Hi, I would like to point out that within the source I have selected for this edit there is a part that says that from 28 March 2018, the Amsterdam-Mauritius route will be flown by a Air Mauritius Airbus A340. KLM will operate the winter schedule and Air Mauritius will operate this route in the sommer schedule. Why are you still reversing my edit, stating that Amsterdam Schiphol is a Air Mauritius Destination from 28 March 2018. JoeriB92 (talk) 10:59, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

@JoeriB92: You're right. I've reinstated your edit.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:57, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi again ! Can you look Burgas Airport page its ok with edits ? I added link with Burgas airport schedule search. Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimitrakizzz (talkcontribs)

@Dimitrakizzz: Ideally, each item must have its own citation. Separately, you should use --~~~~ to sign your posts. You may also want to see WP:SIGN regarding this.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:11, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

TAAG Angola Airlines destinations

@Bundubear: Just ridiculous.--Jetstreamer Talk 17:28, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Messages to IP addresses

I opened Wikipedia at work, Concordia University Ann Arbor, and saw a "User talk" page message from you.

I need to tell you that Concordia assigns the IP address on the fly from a large pool of them. From day-to-day, and from machine-to-machine, there is no consistency.

The message you sent, "use reliable references", was not seen by the editor who made the unreferenced change.

This is very often the case with IP address users. They are at libraries, or places such as this university.

I suggest that you refrain from such messages, as much more often than not they are going to people such as myself, and are not helpful just annoying. I have been editing Wikipedia since Jan 2006, have made over 6000 edits, and always reference. I am a professional research scientist, and *know* how to reference.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.60.34.200 (talkcontribs)

It seems you edit Wikipedia not as often as to know that you should sign your posts. Regarding your message, I suggest you to create an account to avoid further warning messages. I won't stop sending such messages to editors that do not follow a basic policy.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:40, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Please note that the detail i added is from Planespotters.net

Link is as below. I hope it is a reliable source.

you can verify and the same in the fleet list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guysbenny (talkcontribs) 12:16, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Planespotters is not a reliable source. But even if it was, you did not reference your additions with it.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:36, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Air New Zealand Flight 901

I'm a bit confused as to why you reverted my changes. The source was the very Privy Council case quoted. The current version is surely somewhat misleading in not reaffirming that it is the general consensus now that it was indeed ' “appalling blunders and deficiencies” by the airline (not the flight crew) “had caused the loss of 257 lives” '.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ncameron (talkcontribs)

@Ncameron: Can you please add (or point to) the spefici page? Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:38, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Equipment vs Aircraft

I reverted your edit on Air Afrique because it does not even make sense in British English. I suggest you take a look at the meanings of the words "equipment" and "aircraft" on http://dictionary.cambridge.org/. They are not exactly interchangable: The sentence "Airline XYZ previously operated DC-3 equipment" can possibly mean the airline didn't actually fly the DC-3, but merely used "the set of necessary tools, clothing, etc. for a particular purpose:" (ie, perhaps operated any component of the DC-3 aircraft, or used parts from the DC-3 in some way. This makes no sense, hence the wording needed to be changed aircraft:"any vehicle, with or without an engine, that can fly, such as a plane or helicopter") while saying "Airline XYZ previously operated DC-3 aircraft" is much clearer in meaning, more coherent and logical. You left no good reason to use this strange wording that almost seems like it was spat out by google translate when clearer, encyclopedic wording replaced it.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 01:28, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

@PlanespotterA320: Just take a look at the following article [14] and pay special attention to the title. You won't need a translation to read it. Equipment is a widely used term in the aviation industry.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:33, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
"Equipment is a widely used term in the aviation industry" yes, thats the problem. The reason that article said "equipment" was because it was referring to more that just aircraft (everything associated with aircraft). When just talking about an aircraft used on a specific route, "equipment" is a bizzare term to use; would never be used normally by a native english speaker as opposed to "aircraft. Again, the phrase "Example Airlines previously operated DC-3 equipment" is improper and vague (it could mean the airline didn't actually use the actual plane on a route, technically speaking. They could have just used parts from the DC-3 for ground operations) "Example Airlines previously operated DC-3 aircraft" is more logical. If nessesary I will appeal this issue to a third party; I have already spoken to several English teachers at my school and they agree with me. Most of the time when talking about aircraft used, the term "aircraft" is used, not "equipment"

Examples: http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/air-transport/2017-01-09/malaysia-airlines-order-25-widebodies-2017 "Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) has returned to expansion mode and plans to order 25 widebody aircraft by the end of the year, according to chief executive Peter Bellew." if the sentence said "Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) has returned to expansion mode and plans to order 25 widebody equipment by the end of the year, according to chief executive Peter Bellew." in a lack of proper context, one might conclude they were ordering maintenance materials associated with widebody aircraft, not actual aircraft.

http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/10/08/qatar-airways-boeing-order/ The title is "Qatar Airways Orders Up To 100 New Boeing Planes" not "Qatar Airways Orders Up To 100 New Boeing equipment"; the latter makes less sense

https://www.emirates.com/us/english/about/news/order-boeing.aspx Title is "Emirates’ $76 billion Boeing aircraft order a boost to US aviation industry" not "Emirates’ $76 billion Boeing equipment order a boost to US aviation industry"; the latter makes less sense

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/qatar-commits-to-up-to-100-boeing-aircraft-in-186-430162/ Title is "Qatar commits to up to 100 Boeing aircraft in $18.6 billion order" not "Qatar commits to up to 100 Boeing equipment in $18.6 billion order"; the latter makes less sense

Stop insisting on using improper and bizzare; it is downright destructive to the purpose of Wikipedia.PlanespotterA320 (talk) 13:49, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Toa Airways

Stop being such a deletionist. If a citiation is lacking in the article but present in a linked article, (like Toa Airways) you could copy that citation instead of reverting it or tag as "Citation needed" so someone else can fix it. You deleted information that you knew was correct based on the link when adding a citation would have been more beneficial to the Wikipedia project. And I notice most of your contributions are reverting other peoples edits, not actually adding content to the encyclopedia. If you need ideas on how to actually improve Wikipedia I can give you a list of articles that need to be created.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 14:37, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

@PlanespotterA320: You can look at my page to brief yourself about my contributions, including good articles and DYKs. Regarding the article, and as I once told you, you need to follow the WP:VERIFY policy here. This is not your personal website.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:41, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
I occasionally forget to provide citations. If anything, you seem to act as though this is you personal website. Regardless, deletionist behavior is damaging to Wikipedia and it is better to provide citations for easily verifiable material than to delete it on a whim.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 14:44, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm certainly not gonna do your work for you.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:45, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

The German page of Air Namibia includes a destination map. It's been approved there. So what difference does it make? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bundubear (talkcontribs) 14:18, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Help at Discussion

Hi. Can you please join this discussion regarding the directness of a direct flight ? Since you are well informed and expert in aviation, you can give better opinions to the initiator of this discussion or to me. But so far, I think all my claims are accurate and verifiable. It would be great to have you at the discussion. Vibhss (talk) 17:49, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Question

Should final destination of a direct flight starting from a foreign destination making a layover at the primary hub of its airline and then flying to secondary hub (in the same country in which primary hub is located) be included in destination table of the "foreign airport" ? Or in the reverse, should originating point of a direct flight starting from secondary hub making a layover at primary hub and then flying non-stop to a foreign destination should be included in destination table of that "foreign airport" ? Do these violate bullet #7 ? Vibhss (talk) 19:31, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

I only checked the JFK-DEL-BOM flight (AI102) on AI's online timetable, and I'd tend to inlude BOM as a destination from JFK since the airline considers it a direct flight.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:55, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
@Jetstreamer: Would you like to have your final word in this discussion ? It can help achieve consensus quickly. Vibhss (talk) 13:45, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
