Bibliography[edit]

Hi, Jessie - your bibliography looks good and your sources look promising to me. Two things: if you have a title that ends with punctuation (i.e. What Is Scenography?), you don't need a period after the title -- only one form of punctuation is needed. Also, you need to include an abbreviation for "press" in publishers' names, e.g., "Cambridge UP" is correct but "Cambridge U." is incomplete; "U of Hawaii P" is correct but "U. of Hawaii" is incomplete. Also, you don't need periods after those abbreviations. Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to reading your writing plan in a couple of weeks! ... Oops, two more things I forgot to mention: you need to indicate the type of source at the end of the listing. So, if the citation is a book or a printed newspaper, at the end of the entry write: Print. If it's an online source, write: Web (and with web sources, you also need to include the date when it was created, if available, and the date you accessed it). Preliminary bibliography[edit]

Hi, Jessie -- thanks for posting your prelim bib. The main problem with it, at this point, is that -- as you know -- Wikipedia does not allow original research or analysis from editors, which is why this week's assignment is to create a preliminary bibliography of secondary sources. Due to Wikipedia's editorial standards, you will need to rely principally on secondary (rather than primary) sources -- yet all of the sources in your prelim bib are written by your subject (Treadwell) and therefore would be considered primary. I know from your work last semester that you are a solid researcher and you know how to find sources, so I'm not worried; but I can't offer you any feedback on your prelim bib, since you won't be able to use Treadwell's writings exclusively. Otherwise: please note that MLA no longer requires you to include URLs in citations in a Works Cited list.
