Old Skool Esperanzial note[edit]

Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted page vandal[edit]

Looking at what that guy did and how fast he did it, do you think he could be Squidward? Maybe an indef block would be appropriate if it's an open proxy. CanadianCaesar Et tu, Brute? 18:03, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A wikiquote copyright concern[edit]

I recently added some quotations by Ludwig von Mises on socialism [1]. However, my source seems to be rather demanding on copyright issues, stating All rights reserved, including the right of reproduction in whole or in part in any form. Brief quotations may be included in a review, and all inquiries should be addressed to Liberty Fund. [2]. Does it mean that it would be better not to have these quotes on wikiquote page? Anyway, if not done by someone else, you might take the necessary action (I'm myself not a frequent contributor there).--Constanz - Talk 09:46, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3[edit]

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Hi, you contributed to discussions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel News Agency. It was deleted by User:Danny, but not done as an Office Action. As you contributed to the original AFD, I was wondering if you would take the opportunity to make comment at DRV. Please note that if it remains deleted then I'm not terribly fussed. However, because the community found that it was notable and should be kept and it was not slanderous (that I can see) I relisted it. - Ta bu shi da yu 12:11, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox help[edit]

You seem to know your way around userboxes, so I was wondering about the ones on my user page. I have them in a column, but that column is for the speaking languages. I was wondering how to remove the "babel" table the boxes are in without messing the page up. Thunderbrand 19:02, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got it working. Thanks for the help! Thunderbrand 00:20, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Favorite Songs[edit]

My survey has changed. I am now continuing my mission for the best songs, but now I am accepting all genres. I'm giving you a chance to revote for your top ten favorite songs of any genres (not just classic rock which is still the best). I've made a executive decision to keep the existing survey results and just add on to that with the new entries. My feeling for doing this is because classic rock is the most influential genre in music currently so it should be expressed more in the survey. Thank you for contributing in the past, and hopefully in the future. ROCK ON. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 03:27, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings[edit]

Hi there Robert...Yes well...hmm, my signature. Well, as you know I copied your original sig some time back, but changed it to the straight darkblue (getting rid of the e) a few days ago, for some odd reason, its the same as yours again. :P I have to say I love the bold darkblue, its a good idea and just looks cool. However, if you like I'd be happy to change it for you. Thanks, I did have a good wikibreak, ready to edit fulltime again. :) Regards -- Banes 08:42, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PC game covers[edit]

Hi. Please do not sort anything into Category:PC game covers unless absolutely necessary. Category:Video game covers has a large collection of categories that the images should be sorted into. RfA thanks![edit]

Thanks for voting!
Hello Jaxl/Archive07, and thank you so much for voting in my recent RfA. I am pleased to inform you that it passed with a final tally of (119/1/3), into the WP:100, so I have now been cleared for adminship and will soon be soaring above the clouds. I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care.

Ext. links[edit]

There seems to be some disagreement over what external links to put on the Star Fox series page. Anons and other people have been removing and re-adding them back and forth. I guess I kind of "started" it when I took out a couple lesser-known ones, since I rememeber reading something about only having the most "popular" fansites in an external links section (see WP:EL#Occasionally acceptable links). What do you think? Thunderbrand 19:07, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Metroid seems like it has too many, but I dunno, I will think about it later. Also, see my post on the List of Star Fox planets and locations talk page about Venom. Thunderbrand 05:02, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support![edit]

Good evening, Robert. Thank you for your support at my Request for Adminship, which succeeded with a final tally of (67/0/0)! Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have suggestions or requests - either of an admin nature or otherwise! :)

Your user page[edit]

I read your user page. When my stamina runs a little low but I want to keep contributing, I look at the following:

Or, there's always just looking through recent changes - but not for vandalism. If you look at recently-created articles, you'll find countless articles that aren't categorized, aren't referenced at all and/or need to be tagged as stubs. New sub-standard stuff is being added constantly. Hopefully you can hang out and get back in the swing!  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 02:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, there's plenty to do! The other good thing about some of these tasks is that they're far less contentious than vandal patrol or AFD. When you need to "get away from it all" - and we all do from time to time - these are a good way to do it.  :) —Wknight94 (talk) 14:12, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Star Fox 64[edit]

The SF64 page is looking good. I guess it would be worthwhile to put it under a peer review to see other people's comments. The only thing I have a problem with is the list of planets/levels. I think lists generally are to be avoided, and can be converted into "flowing prose" (like what i kind of did at the Assault page, although the 3 different routes would make it harder.) Thunderbrand 22:52, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work. It looks better than without all the bullets. It could probably pass as a GA now. Thunderbrand 15:45, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just wondering...it might be better to put the game at the regular Good articles page. You might not get a response for a while at the CVG one. Thunderbrand 23:21, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh....I kind of made a mistake. I really meant the regular Wikipedia:peer review. I can't believe I didn't see that! Thunderbrand 23:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, might as well let it "cook" for a couple days. On a side note, the cover art has no source URL, so you might want to look for a replacement. Thunderbrand 04:13, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also of note, I added a nice little reception section to Assault. Yeah, its not the greatest game, but I felt like it. Also thinking of doing the same to the other series' games later. Thunderbrand 00:14, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed that part too. I'll go and see what I can dig up. I would also like to have the sales figures for Assault, but the only thing I can find is this [3] which is an early ref and not one from late 05. Thunderbrand 00:44, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Jeez, I could have used that site a long time ago. Many thanks. Thunderbrand 01:09, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And now the waiting commences! I think it will pass, though. You did good work on it. Thunderbrand 16:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats! It is now a GA. That seemed kind of quick, though. Thunderbrand 14:02, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks from Yanksox[edit]

Hey, Robert, thanks for supporting my RfA, with a tally of 104/4/7...

I am now an admin!!!

I was and still am very flattered by all the kind comments that I recieved, I will also take into account the comments about how I could improve. I guarantee I will try my best to further assist Wikipedia with the mop. Feel free to drop in and say hi or if you need anything. Again, thank you so much! Yanksox 07:40, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SF: Assault peer review[edit]

As of note, I nominated it for a CVG peer review, following in your footsteps! I dunno....I think the page looks pretty good and I was happy with the weapons list I converted today. Drop on by if you see something there is to fix up/add. Thunderbrand 23:30, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help! And that smiley message below is kinda funny. Thunderbrand 02:38, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for trimming up the story. I was messing around with it earlier, but could only reduce it as seen in my recent edit. I couldn't really shorten it up anymore. Anyway, it seems pretty good now. I might submit it for a GA nom in the coming days. Thunderbrand 19:43, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I'll try to take care of that extras section. Robert 19:51, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, I don't know. I was looking for the source a few days ago, but I can't find it. I thought I got it from Nintendo's website, but it's not there. Want me to upload a new one? Thunderbrand 17:41, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because I'm bored, most everyone else has one of these, and for some reason it makes me feel better[edit]

Thanks for categorizing my Boxart uploads[edit]

Thank you for further categorizing my SNES boxart uploads into its sub category under Gamecovers, I realized my error and have retagged the ones you didn't get to. I appreciate the fixes. I'll make sure I tag them specifically from here on.

I happened upon an old AfD that you closed and was a little bit put off by how you closed it.

AFD is not a vote. There was a clear merge consensus here. The number of "votes" doesn't matter in an AfD; the substance of the arguments do, and everyone who actually participated in the discussion that went on ended up in support of a merge (including Captain Disdain who later switched his vote, but which you failed to observe because you didn't actually read the discussion, you only counted the bolded words (and even explicitly stated that in your message).

I'm not terribly concerned with the status of this article (in fact, if I had been around I would have argued for a keep against a merge), but this looks like sloppy work on your part which the already disastrous AfD process cannot afford from its closing admins.

Sorry to bring up something that's almost a year old but I hope that if you haven't learned better since then you will take something from this. Have a nice day. — GT 10:08, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clarifying. I now understand that you were a new admin and I'm satisfied that it's no longer an issue. However I must respond to one other part of your response. I was not judging you or forming any negative opinions of you personally; I was simply commenting on that particular action you took. In fact I added the last line because I hoped that this was no longer representative of your approach. I'm sorry to come in here and look like I'm criticizing you but as an admin you should expect your actions to be scrutinized (and you even invite it at the top of this page), so please don't take offense. Finally, after having talked to you, I encourage you to close AfD's as often as you can as I'm sure it will only benefit the project. — GT 13:12, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SF Adventures & barnstar![edit]

In the coming days, I'm gonna give Adventures my full attention and start sourcing and fixing up to a probable good article nom in the future. So I guess if you know of any links or info that can help, you know where to go! Also, I wanted to show my appreciation for helping a lot with Assault and also making 64 a GA with this shiny barnstar! Thunderbrand 19:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
