Thanks for your nice article on the Holy Trinity Column. It is very interesting and has a good chance of being advertised on the Main Page, if you put it on Template talk:Did you know. If you don't know how, just ask me. --Ghirlandajo 22:39, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

From?[edit]

Hello, are you from Olomouc? I live in Olomouc. I can speak Czech too. I will make photos of saint staues at column some day MAYBE... --Snek01 17:26, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your question[edit]

Hello, Jan. The WP:DYK section of the Main Page is updated about twice a day. Your article was linked from the Main Page for thirteen hours yesterday. If you'd like to see what the template looked like at that time, you may check here. If you have any other questions, just ask me. --Ghirlandajo 07:45, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good work on Olomouc. Pavel Vozenilek 00:03, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A really good article. Feel free to contribute with more such :-)

My work here is mostly attempt to create at least minimal stub for every town and village in Czech Republic, plus other related topics. Pavel Vozenilek 04:16, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Small note: the article may have section "References" with info about book used a source here. Pavel Vozenilek 02:05, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I hope these photos will be usefull:

Asteroids[edit]

Argh!

How the hell did I do that?!?

You're absolutely right, it was a mistake on my part - I have no idea how it happened, I just meant to fix the stuff about Asteroid Ike, and... wow. Thank you for bringing it to my attention; I'll fix that right away. DS 16:41, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Asteroids named after Czech towns and villages[edit]

I'd added over two dozens of towns/villages today and still I am at ~5% of total. Yesterday I also added Lysá hora (just a stub, I have limited time and abilities). Pavel Vozenilek 18:33, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is fairly bearable. It doesn't reuire much of thinking and since I am the only one doing it the result has common style and structure. My hope is that people will come later and fill in the details they are most familiar. Pavel Vozenilek 19:00, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
--217.11.255.138 07:00, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DYK disappeared[edit]

Hi, both the admins (including me) who are currently updating DYK were on wikibreak. While I returned by 0530 UTC, the Picture of the day was already on and I thought it best not to disturb it for the day. Thanks a ton for your concern; I doubt if such an occurrence of missing DYK would be more than twice a year. Delayed wishes for a happy new year. On second thoughts, 362 is much more than 3, so the delay shouldn't matter ;) --Gurubrahma 14:41, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Asteroidy vs. planetky[edit]

If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

I used a different image from the article as the image you suggested has appeared on the DYK very recently. --Gurubrahma 17:49, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2005 to 2006[edit]

done; thanks a ton for the heads-up. me thinks the DYK admins are a nostalgic lot & hence remained in 2005 ;) --Gurubrahma 06:00, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations[edit]

I read your latest article and liked it immensely. When I added quotation from the ICOMOS evaluation to the article on the column in Olomouc, I was secretly hoping that someone would be prompted to start an article on other plague columns as well. And here it is. Keep up the good work! --Ghirla | talk 00:26, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Question on deletion vandals[edit]

The page you posted on, administrator intervention against vandalism, is for short term alerts only. For longer term alerts, please see vandalism in progress. --tomf688{talk} 01:13, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I put in parental concept carrying otčina although I somehow miss reason for the translation into every language. Pavel Vozenilek 06:46, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should I have time, stamina and interest I would delete the list from there as unencyclopedic listcruft. I have neither. Pavel Vozenilek 22:16, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When you reveret vandalism...[edit]

When you revert vandalism it is useful to place a tag on vandal's Talk page: {{test}}, {{test2}}, {{test3}}, or {{test4}}. These warnings are generally seen as needed precursor for future block of the vandal. If the guy already has "established track" and is active in recent days you may notice WP:VIP; there's (not very high) chance someone will notice it and block the bloke. The procedure is too slow but that's the way it is.

Pavel Vozenilek 19:12, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS: dealing with vandalism can take all the time one has. WP has shortage of people who are able to write coherent and quality article - please don't get too distracted or disappointed by the chaos.

Diacritics[edit]

The use of diacritics in the English version of wiki hockey articles is under debate. Please leave articles as is until some decision as been made: Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Using diacritics (or national alphabet) in the name of the article Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (use English), Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Ice_Hockey/Player_pages_format#Diacritics_and_non-English_characters ccwaters 21:24, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Interpreters[edit]

Thanks for your correction in List of Slovaks. You were probably right regarding 'Interpreters', although I don't find 'Others' as a better alternative. Eventualy it was reverted (not by me). Now I am looking for a proper term. Dictionary says 'performers', but I am still not sure if this is the word native english speaking would use. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Jurohi 06:51, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Let's go for instrumentalists, although I am still not 100% happy. There are still many things to be improoved/corrected in the article, especialy there is a problem with people falling into multiple categories. For now the primary goal was to enhance readability and editability at a cost of some inevitable imperfections. Cya and thx for your help :). Jurohi 02:26, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Justice statue[edit]

Can you help me to find more information about Justice statue for somebody called Preben, please? --Snek01 15:01, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nectanebo's obelisk[edit]

Glad that you don't mind me making "non-encylopaedic" use of your photo! Regards, Nectanebo 17:44, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry about the delay in response. Looking at the history, I see that I was reverting a vandalism that occurred immediately prior to your edit. Your edit must have been caught between when I started the revrsion process and when I saved the page. It was not my intention to revert your "interpreter" edit, but I had no idea that it occurred, as it had not happened when I started editing. My apologies for the inconvenience. -- Avi 02:06, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikics template[edit]

Hi Jan! Recently, I created a new template to indicate English Wikipedia user who also contribute to the Czech Wikipedia.

Template:User wikics

Feel free to add it to your userboxes if you like it (and if you actually contribute). Happy Easter. Daniel Šebesta (talkcontribs) 17:09, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jan! I've done it for you, but the userboxes have moved from below the photo next to it. I don't know how to keep them in the original position. Anyway, if you don't like it this way, revert my edit. Alternatively, you could ask for advice at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical), where some more experienced users could surely help you further. Daniel Šebesta (talkcontribs) 16:47, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I've just realized you didn't want to replace the Babel box. Wait a minute, maybe I'll find another way. Daniel Šebesta (talkcontribs) 16:48, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've tried another way. Adding the template as part of the Babel box itself. You can still revert it and/or ask at the Village pump for advice. (Sorry about the first edit. I hadn't read your message properly.) Daniel Šebesta (talkcontribs) 16:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gate to Languages[edit]

hi there Jan. I think you need to expand this stub, otherwise the presiding administrator (I'm not an admin) will most likely not include it in the page. Regards, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 01:11, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kojetin/Kojata[edit]

I noticed your question in Czech Wikipedia. Infortunately I cannot reply or discuss it on Czech Wikipedia because I am banned from there by local tyrants. I doubt you will find andy "verification" of Kojata and his relation to Samo on the internet. All those info can be found in Vlastivedne muzeum in Prerov, Olomouc or locally in Kojetin. It is a historical fact. Do not delete anything. Let me know if I can be of any help. Ross.Hedvicek 17:33, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just started this article. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing on the subject. If you do, please expand. Cheers, Ghirla -трёп- 06:41, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need your help[edit]

Could you please watch closely Petr Cibulka article - I think that one of those Czech Wiki stalkers is at it again and trying to delete whatever I write. Thanks. Ross.Hedvicek 19:50, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had a brief look at it and must say that the article needs improving in stylistics, grammar, and also precision (e.g. "very few" seems quite ambiguous to me). The offence directed at Václav Havel was quite famous at that time and might need more explanation. The deleted information is new to me and therefore I would have to find some sources to say, whether it should be in the article or not (I have also never heard the expression "anti-Cibulka law"). Maybe you could suggest some.
Beginnig tomorrow, I am going to take a wiki-break, because I've got something important to do, but I hope I'll be able to have a closer look at it soon. Jan.Kamenicek 20:46, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
