Mass production of music articles of questionable (or absent) merit.

Hello, I've noticed your proclivity for production. Some of these look OK. Some are obviously not signifying of significance. I have started a thread at WP:AN/I to seek input and to help sift wheat from chaff. You might want to review WP:Music for notability guidelines for music related articles. Thanks for your note. Not up to me unless it meets WP:CSD#A7 and I see it. Articles that do not assert significance can be deleted. Some of them do assert significance an need to be discussed at WP:AFD. Others may be clearly notable-- meeting WP:Music. Perhaps you should read wp:music and work on providing reliable sources for those that do meet notability rather than adding more articles. Dlohcierekim 16:30, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

I make no apologies for my actions. There are guidelines for article inclusion that can be found at WP:MUSIC and WP:GNG. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Organ Thieves a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

Please stop adding back the release dates to the infobox in What If... (Mr. Big album). Per Template:Infobox album, "Only the earliest known date that the album was released should be specified; later release dates (incl. re-issues) can be mentioned in a Release history section." There is a release history section in the article so the information is there, it does not need to be in the infobox.

Also you need to use an Help:Edit summary when making an edit on Wikipedia so other users know why you made changes to the article.

Edits to tour articles

Regarding your edits Screaming Bloody Murder Tour and What Separates Me from You Tour, I have reverted them since I fully explained why I made these changes in my edit summary and you did not leave one.

1) Flagicons that are used solely for decoration are against WP:ICONDECORATION and should not be used.

2) In a chart if an entry already is linked, any further mention of the entry does not need to be linked, to do so would be WP:OVERLINK.

3) Postal codes should not be used per WP:ABBR and instead the state/province should be spelled out.

4) Section headings should not be used in tables.

5) If everything in a table is center, then it makes more sense to use style="text-align:center;" once in the table heading instead of using align="center" for every single cell.

Per WP:BRD, you need to fully discuss your edits to gain a consensus instead of continually reverting. Also in the future please make sure you use an Help:Edit summary for each of you edits so other editors know why you made the changes. Aspects (talk) 01:33, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

First off, you do not WP:OWN these tour articles and other editors making changes to them should not be blindly reverted without any explanation (edit summary or talk page discussion.) Doing this makes it seem as if the other editor's changes were vandalism and in turn calling the other editor a vandal, which most people do not appreciate on Wikipedia. Especially when you complain about the time you put into an edit when you do not take into account other editor's who do the same with reasoning that is never contested, just simply reverted. Second, you are arguing that other stuff exists when most tour pages do not have flagicons in them, so that would actually work against you. Third, your reason for keeping the flagicons seems to be that they are pretty and you like them with this snippet, "see them and also pretty to the eye", which shows they are purely decorative and add no encyclopedic value to the articles. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Your recreations do not address the arguments from the deletion discussions: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Appeal to Reason Tour and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Appeal to Reason promotional tour. Namely, the criteria of WP:CONCERT that the tour has received "significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Sources which merely establish that a tour happened are not sufficient to demonstrate notability." A majority of your "sources" are unreliable...last.fm, setlist.fm, myspace blogs...please see WP:RS for how to find "reliable, authoritative sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." If all you can verify is that the tour happened, and where it went, that does not demonstrate why it was notable. If our standards were that low, then every tour by every artist ever would merit an independent article. Some tips to help you out (and to avoid making mistakes!)

Hi JackShestak, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)

First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.

Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:JackShestak/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.

For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).

Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between <ref></ref> tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type {{reflist}} on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.

Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you.

Something to make your life easier!

Hi there JackShestak! I've just come across one of your articles, and noticed that you had to create titles for your url links manually, or were using bare urls as references.

You might want to consider using this tool - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing!
