my article[edit]

You have deleted my article on Invasio Barbarorvm when you rather ignorantly looked up Invasio Barbarorvm on google via "news" please look at this correct link please thankyou Secthayrabe (talk)

The article has been undeleted and automatically nominated for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion as routine, to gather more discussion. For future reference, I'd appreciate a more civilised tone than "rather ignorantly", and as it says on my user talk page "please add new discussions at the bottom of this page", respecting that this indeed means adding new discussions at the bottom. Just of curiosity[edit]

Hi, JIP. I asked a question at the help desk about typing various Latin characters. You can see it here. I just wanted to ask you - how do you usually insert those? I saw your query on the Refdesk about what to do in Kraków. There you have sometimes misspelt Kraków as Krákow - therefore you can't have copied and pasted it and you maybe didn't use drop-down menu below the "Save page" button. Your computer probably has a Finnish keyboard layout installed, but Finnish uses neither ‹á› nor ‹ó›. So, how do you usually insert special characters? If you have conjured up an easy way of doing that, will you reveal it? Thanks. --Магьосник (talk) 03:13, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Finnish keyboard has "dead keys". There is a key between the + key and backspace that is used for typing accents on letters. Pressed by itself, it doesn't do anything. But when a letter key is pressed after it, then an accented letter is written. I can write Kraków, Krákow, or even Hélsínkí with it if I want. JIP | Talk 03:58, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated BoundCon, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/BoundCon. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Stillwaterising (talk) 13:38, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Perv Park requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi JIP - I just created the bio page for Sachet Engineer. In doing so, I noticed that an article about this actor was deleted by you on 04:44, 22 May 2008. I could not find that article so I do not know what its contents were. Engineer is both an actor and a champion swimmer with enough information to establish notability. More importantly, he starred in a very famous film in India, called Taare Zameen Par (Like Stars on Earth). This film was recently released by Disney on DVD, the first time an Indian film was released in this manner as you can see in the article. Taare Zameen Par (Like Stars on Earth) is now a GA and to maintain its status, and perhaps move it to FAC in the future, the red link for his name should be converted to an article. Thanks, -Classicfilms (talk) 17:11, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks. The deleted version of the article just stated that Sachet Engineer is an actor and he acted in some films. It didn't even have any sources. The article you created, with more details and claims to notability, and most importantly, verifiable sources, is much better. JIP | Talk 18:08, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic! Thanks for the feedback and greenlight. -Classicfilms (talk) 18:17, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion for userifying[edit]

Hi

The version 1.0 bot has started working again, although the article alert bot has not, and I have just found that there were some articles deleted after 7 days.

A Manufacturing Language which falls under the perdue of the Robotics project.

Is there any chance you can tell me please if there was any content in there and if it can be userified for me to try and include in other articles or to be rewritten? If so there is a page ready at User:Chaosdruid/sandbox7

thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 17:40, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I only just got back from my vacation trip so I couldn't reply sooner. I've moved the content of the deleted article to your user page that you mentioned above. The original article is still deleted. JIP | Talk 06:28, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Process Environment Block[edit]

Why was this page deleted? You claimed "non-notable data structure; no indication of how it is more notable than any other data structure in W32". This is likely just due to ignorance of its importance in W32. It's undocumented but it is one of the most important data structures in win32 userland. Microsoft only gives a handful of the fields, rather uselessly: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa813706(VS.85).aspx. More information is at ntinternals: http://undocumented.ntinternals.net/UserMode/Undocumented%20Functions/NT%20Objects/Process/PEB.html.

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.192.253.30 (talk) 23:55, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was not the person who claimed "non-notable data structure; no indication of how it is more notable than any other data structure in W32", that was User:Ironholds, who proposed the article for deletion. I just carried out the deletion. I suggest you contact User:Ironholds about this. JIP | Talk 06:30, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I propose that the section get undeleted. If it's an important enough structure to be discussed in the MSDN journal by MS employees, it's more important than "common" w32 structures, and as it's not documented fully or officially for any windows version on MSDN (you basically have to get it through kd), such documentation on wikipedia is rather important. I don't find myself willing to discuss the matter with someone who claimed it was a "non-notable data structure." That astonishing level of ignorance is frightening and I can only fear how quickly such a discussion would turn into said person throwing wild insults. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.114.240.129 (talk) 16:57, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Nebulos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, no apparent independent notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you also fix the redirect. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Good morning, JIP. I want to say that I really appreciate your translation of my article on the social and economic divide of Oslo. The Norwegian article has got quite a bit of attention, it is read (opened) more than 10 000 times a year, and is probably interesting also to the large number of new new inhabitants in the city not yet speaking Norwegian, and to other foreign readers. Hope you find opportunity to visit the city. Helge Høifødt (talk) 05:38, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tedescoboy[edit]

Thanks for biting the bullet there. You forgot this little gem - using Nazi/or Nazi-esque terminology to call for a concerted deletion effort. I took the approach of ignoring it, consoling myself with Godwin's law and Reductio ad Hitlerum, but I feel it should be included in the RFC as an example of inappropriate conduct. --Malkinann (talk) 09:19, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The RFC already includes a link to the diff where Tedescoboy22 makes the comment. I just didn't think it was necessary to mention his Nazi-esque terminology there. JIP | Talk 09:22, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see - from the description, I thought it was referring to this edit on BlackKite's page. --Malkinann (talk) 09:26, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In re: the block - tricky. On the one hand, I don't know that the consensus at the RFC was ripe for a block of this editor - but, on the other hand, multiple admins (myself included) have reviewed the block and left it in place. Since we can include his comments at the RFC, even while he is blocked, my recommendation would be to leave the block in place for the time being. The fact that you are involved in the RFC does not change the fact that the block does appear to have been aimed at preventing disruption to the project, that being the whole point of blocking. And unblocking now would add to the drama, which is a factor. So, no, I don't think you should unblock - but be prepared to do so if consensus tips that way (which may happen, or may not). why did you delete my biographical entry?[edit]

You deleted my biographical entry because it was not verified and because I am not famous enough.

Verification would be easy with minimal effort. My biography below includes links to the organizations on whose Boards I serve or that I have founded. They may be contacted for verification. My books can be looked up on Amazon and other sites.

As to "famous"... I am uncomfortable tooting my own horn, but I was at the vanguard of opening up the world of interfaith for Pagans -- the first to sit on the Board of a local interfaith council, the first to sit on the Board of a regional interfaith organization, the first to sit on the board of a global interfaith organization (the United Religions Initiative -- the world's largest grassroots interfaith organization). I did this as the official representative of the world's largest Wiccan religious organization -- the Covenant of the Goddess. I founded the Lost & Endangered Religions Project. I am one of the leading historians of the modern Craft movement, judging by both the number of folks who either cite me or denounce me. I wrote the first book debunking the Satanic Hysteria, which was later used by law enforcement all over the US. I created the Interfaith Sacred Space Design competition, the first of its kind. etc. etc.

I don't expect you to include the whole bio below, but I DO expect to have some form of biographical entry reinstated or know the reasons why.

Thank you and Blessed Be, Don Frew 67.188.195.242 (talk) 03:06, 10 November 2010 (UTC) (DHF3@aol.com)[reply]

Donald Hudson Frew III (b. May 11, 1960) was born in California and grew up on the San Francisco peninsula. His parents were not particularly religious and felt it was up to him to make his own choice of religion. At an early age, he chose Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Norse “myths” over Bible “stories” and identified as a “Pagan” in elementary school. By middle school in 1973, he had become involved with a kids’ study group led by a local Witch. Already studying magic (both stage and “with a -k”) in high school, he took a semester off to travel the Mediterranean with a family friend who was a Professor of Archaeology on sabbatical. Visiting Pagan sacred sites as a Pagan - to experience the places where the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian myths happened - made a profound impression upon him. Going to college at UC Berkeley, he majored first in Anthropology, then Religious Studies with an emphasis in “Magic & Occult Religions”.

It was while studying religion in Berkeley that Frew reconnected with the Craft in 1983. Working first in the NROOGD tradition with Coven Firestar (led by Robin Goodefellow & Gaia Wildewoode), he rose quickly through the degrees and in a few years was High Priest of both a NROOGD coven (Black Oak, with Leigh Ann Hussey) and a Gardnerian coven (Tobar Bhride, with Lady Brighit, and later Lady Bhride) simultaneously. Eventually, he retired from both groups, founding a new Gardnerian coven in 1992 - Coven Trismegiston - with his wife Anna Korn.

All of Frew’s covens have been members of the Covenant of the Goddess (www.cog.org), the world’s largest religious organization for Witches. He has served eight terms on CoG’s National Board: five as Public Information Officer, two as First Officer, and two as FO Emerita.

As PIO, Frew started doing interfaith work on behalf of CoG, starting with the Berkeley Area Interfaith Council in 1985. Since then, interfaith has become the dominant activity in his life and he has served as one of CoG’s National Interfaith Representatives since 1998. He has represented CoG and the Craft at all of the modern Parliaments of the World’s Religions (www.parliamentofreligions.org) starting in 1993, serving in its “Assembly of the World’s Religious & Spiritual Leaders” since 1998. He was the first Pagan elected to the Global Council of the United Religions Initiative (www.uri.org), involving over 2.5 million people in almost 500 local groups in 74 countries. He is currently serving in his third term on the URI’s GC. Since 2000, he has served on the Board of the Interfaith Center at the Presidio (www.interfaith-presidio.org), a consortium of 25 SF Bay Area interfaith councils & graduate schools maintaining a permanent site for ongoing interfaith work. Through the ICP, Frew created the first Interfaith Scared Space Design Competition, inviting people to imagine what sacred space would look like that would welcome ALL faith traditions. This resulted in 160 designs from 17 countries. All of the designs were published in 2004 in a book Frew edited titled Sacred Spaces (Interfaith Center at the Presidio, 2004) and they can be seen on the competition website (www.interfaithdesign.org).

Frew is very active in international interfaith, representing the Craft and his various interfaith organizations at conferences in South Africa, Brazil, Spain, Taiwan, Peru, Korea, Turkey, Paraguay, Argentina, and Australia. Along the way, he and the Rt. Rev. David Ponedel created the “Waters of the World”, an ever-growing collection of waters gathered from (so-far) 145 sacred springs, lakes, and rivers in 45 countries, on all 7 continents and from the 7 seas. The Waters have been part of interfaith ceremonies at the United Nations and around the world.

Sometimes, Frew’s interfaith work has led in unusual directions. In 1985, he started consulting for police departments and academies on occult & ritual crime. This led to working with the Committee for Scientific Examination of Religion, the FBI, and the Justice Department on a five-year study of “Satanic crime” in America. The results were published (with Frew as a co-author) in 1989 as Satanism in America: How the Devil Got Much More Than His Due (Committee for the Scientific Examination of Religion, 1989) the first study debunking the hysterical claims of widespread Satanic cult activity behind violent crime in America. This led to several prominent right-wing Christians – Lyndon LaRouche, Bob Larson, Hal Lindsey, Walter Martin, Pat Robertson, Mike Warnke, and others – denouncing him as “an agent of the anti-Christ” and “a general in Satan’s army”.

In 1986, Frew opened dialogue with the Spiritual Counterfeits Project (www.scp-inc.org), a conservative Christian think-tank focused on the occult and New Age religions. This led to ten four-hour dialogues on topics ranging from liturgy to theology to social action. Frew and the SCP’s lead researcher, Brooks Alexander, have maintained a friendship ever since and give talks on how people holding such diametrically opposed views can nonetheless work together amicably. Frew works with other conservative Christians as well, editing books on Wicca and the occult for the conservative Christian community, believing that accurate information and openness helps dispel fear and hate.

In 1999, Frew founded the Lost & Endangered Religions Project (www.religionsproject.org), which works with marginalized religious communities whose religious traditions are in danger of being lost. LERP currently has ongoing projects in Turkey, India, and Latin America. In 2009, LERP developed a partnership with the Initiativa Indigena Global, a consortium of over a dozen tribes from around Latin America, working together to preserve indigenous spiritual practices.

One of LERP’s projects is the Wiccan History Project. Frew & Korn work in conjunction with other centers of Wiccan history to preserve the texts and documents of the earliest history of the modern Craft movement. Text after text is being scanned, transcribed, and digitally preserved so that our history won’t be lost. In the process, Frew & Korn have become some of the leading historians of Wicca, presenting original, source documents (as much as oaths allow) to a Pagan public to support and explore the complex history of Wicca’s development from late classical antiquity to the present day. In furtherance of this work, they have traveled to Canada, England, Spain, Italy, Turkey, and Egypt, and since 1999 Frew has been a Research Associate of the Central Asia / Silk Road Working Group at UC Berkeley. While most of the results of Frew & Korn’s research have been presented at conferences (due to legal restrictions on much of the source material), Frew has published a few articles relating to Craft history: * “Crafting the Art of Magic: A Critical Review”, serialized in several Pagan and magical journals around the world, including The Hidden Path, Shadowplay (Australia), and The Merrymount Messenger. * “Methodological Flaws in Recent Studies of Historical and Modern Witchcraft”, in Ethnologies, Vol. 20, no. 1-2 * “Harran: Last Refuge of Classical Paganism”, in The Pomegranate, #9, August 1999

While interfaith work and Craft history are what the public sees, Frew maintains a very active magical and spiritual life that few outside his students and coveners ever encounter. He was one of the founders of the California Line of the Gardnerian Tradition. Recently, he and his wife issued a new edition of the Gardnerian Book of Shadows, incorporating the results of their study of early Gardnerian texts and increasing the BoS to over 650 pages (all annotated to earlier texts and internally hyperlinked). His overriding concern has been how to reinvigorate current Wiccan liturgy with knowledge and understanding from its roots in the Hermetic and Neoplatonic thought & theurgy of late antiquity. More recently, this has included an ongoing exhaustive study of the role of Decanic magic in theurgic practice.

An early period in college as a professional occult consultant (before there were “Ghostbusters”), has also left Frew with a fairly thorough knowledge of magical combat arts and of the types of - and interactions with - spirits of many varieties. He has written and lectured some on this within the Craft community. His investigative work also extended into work on Bigfoot and UFOs, with both of which he has first hand experience.

Many of Frew’s writings are available online.

Well, most of them require editing the article in order to improve its contents. Let's take a look at the tags: {{Multiple issues}}

JIP/Archive 25

For the first one, add external links to web pages, books or magazines that mention this convention. An external link to the convention's own web site is welcome but not sufficient, it also needs to be mentioned in some other source. For the second one, take a look at the article and replace any parts that outright glorify the convention with a more neutral tone. Wikipedia is not trying to sell this convention or invite people to come, that's for the convention's own web site to do. The third one doesn't usually matter much. It's OK if there are just a couple of articles linking to it. For the last one, see the link provided, and make sure the article follows the guidelines. Unlike the first two ones, this is about the style, not about the content. JIP | Talk 23:25, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Kauko Armas Nieminen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I have been unable to find any sources to support this article about a claimed (pseudo-)scientist.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
