EastEnders[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for all your recent work updating storylines for EastEnders characters, and especially for your work on Linda Carter. Are you interested in joining Wikipedia:WikiProject EastEnders? We need more dedicated editors as the number of active members is dwindling. –anemoneprojectors– 21:58, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Can I ask where you found the name for the storyline? I've seen a few names around online and just wondered if you had a source confirming that it was the official name. Also, the storylines need to be written in present tense (per WP:TENSE) and condensed, as there's far too much detail for one and bit episodes. - JuneGloom Talk 21:11, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've nominated the article for WP:DYK. If you have another (or better) hook suggestion, please add it to the nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/The Erinsborough Tornado. - JuneGloom Talk 21:03, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Canning family article[edit]

Out of all the families that have appeared in Neighbours over the last thirty years, I probably would have picked the Scullys or Kennedys to create an article for (I did start a Kennedy article offline once, but never finished it). I guess I didn't realise how much of an impact they've had on the show. Kyle's been around for years! Are the Cannings a particular favourite of yours? I did notice that some of the dates are missing from the references, would you mind adding them in future? It just helps with WP:LINKROT. If the url goes dead, the information can help in locating a new or archived source. If not, I'll try and get round to adding them at some point. - JuneGloom07 Talk 03:03, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I take your point, and will be happy to create articles for important families such as the Kennedies and the Carpenters/Turners in the future. I suppose your point about the Cannings being amongst my particular favourites is true, but I created their article due to their constantly expanding family promising to continue developing in the future. They have been on-screen in one-way or another for 6 years, nearly 7 (although the Kennedies have been there 20, I admit!). I will continue to maintain the article and appreciate your support. - JABarker97 Talk 12:57, 06 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't upload non-free images, but this looks like a suitable image for the page - [1]. If you think it would benefit the article, I can ask another editor to upload it. Btw, I don't suppose you watch Home and Away? The articles here are in need of a major update and some characters could probably have their own articles now. - JuneGloom07 Talk 17:38, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is a fantastic image, it would really add to it if you got another user to put it on the page. No, I don't watch Home and Away often, although I am familiar with it basically and could help with editing of some of the more main characters. Thank you for your contribution to the Canning family page. - JABarker97 Talk 17:42, 06 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You know I did mention that I had started a Kennedy article, and while it wasn't finished, perhaps you could have come to me for help with the creation of the article here. I have some sources and info that would be useful. I really hope you're going to continue to work on the article though and expand it with many more sources not already in use on other pages (that helps to establish notability outside the parent articles, something the Canning family is lacking atm). - JuneGloom07 Talk 01:16, 19 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi

I'm contacting you as I've become concerned regarding your recent edits to Wikipedia.

You've created an article for the Canning family, yet there's nothing to suggest that the article meets the notability guidelines as it does not add anything to Wikipedia that the existing articles do not already add. The article looks as if it relies on one family member - Kyle. Looking at the second paragraph, of the four storylines mentioned, three are his. Also, the article is very poorly referenced, it should have a lot more than 14 references. I nominated it for deletion because I did not see why it was notable and I honestly thought that there would be work done to it - however I checked it again today and you've done no work to it.

You also created an article for the Kennedy family. Whilst that article does appear to be notable, it is very poorly referenced. For a family of their size that has been in Neighbours for 20 years, I would expect the article to contain a lot more than 12 references. For that family, I would say that it has to be easily 150 references if not more.

The same goes for the Tina Carter article that you created, again lacking in references. That article only has 11 references, Tina has been in the soap a month longer than Mick Carter, yet, when you look at his article there is over 100 references. Not all soap characters are notable for their own articles, when you look at Kirsty Branning, Joey Branning, Danny Pennant, Johnny Carter, all of them were in EastEnders for over a year yet none have their own articles. Sometimes soap opera characters just are not notable enough for their own articles and they should remain as part of a list.

If you are unsure if an article is going to be notable enough, I would suggest creating it in userspace before moving it to mainspace.

Finally, when you performed this edit to Emma Summerhayes, you were correct in removing the unsourced edit that she may be leaving, however, you left the classification field in the infobox as still reading "present; regular (departing)". When I checked, the IP edit that you partially reverted had also added that in. When reverting these types of edits in the future, can you please remove the whole edit.

I would suggest that you read Wikipedia:Your first article which will help you particularly with identifying reliable sources from independent sources as it covers that in detail.

Sorry if it sounds as if I'm having a go at you. I'm genuinely not, I am trying to help you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me--5 albert square (talk) 22:37, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi
Just FYI, the Canning article has now been deleted. If you wish, I can undelete the article and move it into userspace for you. This will then give you the chance to work on the article and it can be moved back to mainspace once it is deemed notable enough. Please advise me if you would like me to do this for you--5 albert square (talk) 01:50, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello
Thank you for your advice. As for the Tina Carter article, it took me quite a long time to find all those references and it sufficiently backs up the points, which is surely why they are there? Mick Carter was created almost immediately after his introduction so people have had time to add different references. If you feel like there should be more references, feel free to add them or recommend that other users add them; if I see anymore when I am surfing the web then I will add them. I think she is quite an important character due to her relationships with other notable characters, e.g. Mick, Shirley and Sonia, and also she has been involved with the Tosh abuse storyline which looks into abuse in LGBT relationships in collaboration with the Broken Rainbow UK charity. When this storyline resolved, I felt it was important enough to deem a section of the article. Nobody ever references on the EastEnders Characters 2014 etc. general character pages, and maybe if they did it wouldn't be such an effort to make an article from scratch. Finding 150 references for the Kennedy family would be extremely difficult, especially as most of the articles about what they did between 1994 and 2006ish have been deleted and there are very little references about. References from the individual pages of the Kennedy family are pretty much the only ones out there and that is why I reused them.
I'll go easy on the editing from now on. I would see deleting unfactual comments from pages like Emma Summerhayes as helpful, even if I do make the odd casual mistake.
