Recently I have been watching the Nicotine article, and just to clarify, Nicotine is an alkaloid predominantly, if not always, found in the Nightshade (Solanaceae) family of plants. Nicotine is not found in Camellia sinensis, better known as the Tea plant, which is a member of the Theaceae family. Tea and other Theaceae members contains such alkaloids as Caffeine, Theobromine, and other Methylxanthine chemicals which function similarly to Nicotine, all of which which act as a pesticide (during growth) and as a stimulant (when ingested or smoked). However, Nicotine is water soluble, meaning Tobacco or other Nightshade plants containing Nicotine can potentially be steeped in hot water to produce a tea-like solution, however this method of intake is quite uncommon due to the strong taste.
