I may be 63, but the small child version of me is still very much alive! I love bunnies. When I was a toddler I would grab every animal I set eyes on, from bees to horses, in order to try to pet it, or hug it and kiss it. Of course I got bitten and stung quite a lot by a large range of different beasties, but that has not discouraged me. I'm still out there trying to hug the world regardless of whether it hugs me back or not. Maybe you are the same? Hugs and bunnies to you too, Invertzoo (talk) 14:05, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

You are the sweetest! I feel the same way about animals. I adore them, but am not so nuts about people, at the moment. They spend lots of time arrogantly controlling nature, as though they are some sort of higher species, but never seem to question whether or not their own nature could use a bit of controlling. This whole "grab all the bananas and claw one's way to the top" bit seems a bit primitive. Not exactly conducive to carry on the 'ol genetic line indefinitely.
In the words of the to-be-famous Mary Smith, the 2165 AD committee member of the small group of people who survive: "Boy, those guys sure blew it. That's the last time we put idiots in charge." Deep words indeed. :)

Love dart

Thanks for your comment. Well, actually, in my experience love darts are not very much like "darts". We can say they have the shape of a dart, but they are not fired like a real dart. It can take ten minutes to half an hour from the moment you can see the tip of the dart in the snail, until it is left behind by the animal. I have never seen the dart entering the other animal, it just falls and becomes part of the snail's trail, similar to what happens to their excrements. I did not touch the love dart until it was well behind both snails, so I did not interfere. Eynar Oxartum (talk) 23:20, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi Invertzoo! Thank you for helping out and weighing in on the scientific name vs. "common name" discussion. Although I too have heard that species locally referred to as theGeoduck clam, undoubtedly common name usage is not always universal - like in bird species. For some strange reason not a lot of people think of mollusks as "sexy" or "cool" critters! Do we want to come up with some WikiProject Gastropods and WikiProject Bivalves standard guidelines that take into account the Wikipedia Fauna guidelines that the speaker was relying upon, and if so how do we deal with these issues like the "littleneck clam" aka "Quahog" (what the heck is "hard clam") formally known as Mercenaria mercenaria, as these issues are bound to arise repeatedly. We have articles on Abalone which maybe could and should link to Haliotidae, or vice versa. Any thoughts? Shellnut(talk) 00:57, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

  • Metrics are out from week one. Week one showed that the need for Teahouse hosts to invite new editors to the Teahouse is urgent for this pilot period. It also showed that emailing new users invitations is a powerful tool, with new editors responding more to emails than to talk page templates. We also learned that the customized database reports created for the Teahouse have the highest return rate of participation by invitees.   • A refreshed "Your hosts" page encourages experienced Wikipedians to learn about the Teahouse and participate. With community input, the Teahouse has updated theYour hosts page which details the host roles within the Teahouse pilot and the importance that hosts play in providing a friendly, special experience not always found on other welcome/help spaces on Wikipedia. It also explains how Teahouse hosts are important regarding metrics reporting during this pilot. Are you an experienced editor who wants to help out?
