What do you think about this article. It looks wrong just by the content. Doesn't do the subject any good to have it's own article like that i.m.o.. What do you think? --Amaraiel 14:02, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Speedy Question[edit]

Hello Improbcat, I have picked you at random in the course of testing a bot to check for recent recreations of deleted pages.

I notice you have CSD'ed New Inn Tennis Courts - within 45 minutes, which is quite impressive unless you share a room with the person who created and re-created it or have a Ring of Power of some kind.

I am wondering how you spotted and investigated this page addition. You might be able to save me a lot of work and/or help me filter out the huge number of re-add hits I am getting.

Thanks for your help. Franamax 15:35, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Improbcat, your lucky break provides a serendipitous case study for me. This article also existed as lower-case letters in the past.
I have posted a sample of my little bot, using a 1-month filter over 500 additions, at my talk page. Note the first entry also exists in the past with a variant capitalization of the second word. You will likely find by the time you look that most of the articles are already CSD'ed or gone.
Now some questions:
1. You are a newpage patroller. What pages do you patrol? Do you get assigned a list or do you just go to Special:Newpages and start at the top?
2. Depending on answer 1., do you find that another newpager has beaten you there and how do you know the page has been previously reviewed (or do you care)?
3. If you have reviewed the listing at my talk page, can you see a way that it would be of benefit to you personally and/or the newpager community? If so, suggestions on how to format and distribute it? (This would be short of making it an active bot and can be done quickly)
4. Suggestions for bot-ifying - what is a good way to make it an active tool?
Thanks for help. Keep in mind that each answer you give will spawn at least two more questions! :Franamax 08:57, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kiki Vale[edit]

I don't understand why Kiki Vale is going to be deleted. I tried reading through all of the links that were sent to me and all of the rules but I just don't get it. If you could please explain this to me and possibly tell me how to not have the entry deleted that would be much appreciated.

Ok...I have re-edited some of the info on the page. I am again sorry that it looked like a resume or an advertisement. This is my first time doing a Wikipedia article and am still trying to learn the ropes. And to answer your question I am not "Executive Producer Justin Strandlund" (I did take that part out of the body of the text hoping that will help). Please review the new entry and let me know if it is passable. Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by BigJ83 (talkcontribs) 18:38, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Canto4425 talk[edit]

(comments moved for easier readability) I just added my first WIKI page on the company I work for and added a {{Hang-on}} but you deleted it anyway. I already went in to delete the copyright symbol I placed because the symbol sent you the wrong message. Biosafety and the kinds of design projects I work on are important so I don't understand why CUH2A is deleted. Other firms like Hellmuth Obata and Kassebaum and Perkins and Will were not deleted. Why? Why? Why?

OK so the article I posted looked like spam and in violation of Wikipedia policies. I edited it of much marketing stuff and wanted to have links to "vivaria" and "high-containment". I guess my question is how valid can Wiki subjects be if I can't add definitions to terms it does not have. I'm clearly missing the best way to add information that hasn't been included in the Wiki universe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canto4425 (talkcontribs) 18:32, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Custom-fit deletion[edit]

Sorry, I did not want to be annoying, I am unskilled on this. Our consortium have named CUSTOM-FIT to new manufacturing system and now this concept is being spreaded over the world. We thought that an article on Wikipedia will be useful for everybody. We will communicate this.--Customfite 14:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commenting[edit]

I have been paying attention to the vandalism/protection. There's no need to add comments to the article. Just revert the vandalism. Commenting should be avoided because external sites copy our pages. The Main Page featured article receives hundreds of vandalisms while it's on the main page, and people neither protect it nor add comments to the top - they just revert the edit. — BRIAN0918 • 2007-10-26 12:52Z

The Rohan Hours Deletion[edit]

Greetings,

I have no idea why you want to delete my page. I am in the process of creating the page. Rapunzelina 19:57, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Overlap - Angelo kissos[edit]

Sorry about tagging overla on Angelo kissos due to slow mobile data speed. TRIRASH 18:48, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on WalsallShopMobility, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because WalsallShopMobility is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting WalsallShopMobility, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. I appreciate the work that you do on RC patrol, but please be a little more careful with the way that you tag pages for speedy deletion. This article was just a stub, but it included an assertion of notability (that the guitarist was a member of Legião Urbana, a notable Brazilian musical group). As such, it was not eligible for speedy deletion, and I have removed your tag. If you would like to pursue deletion further, you might want to nominate the article at AFD, although I think that the subject is sufficiently notable to deserve coverage in Wikipedia (there's already a pretty decent starter article on him at Portuguese Wikipedia, for example). -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 19:50, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jean LeRoque[edit]

Yeah, delete the page. But it's neither nonsense nor a hoax. I'm just new to wikipedia and haven't figured out how to do the references properly yet. It's harder than I thought it would be. But yeah. Delete it. Sorry. I'll work in the sandbox 'til I get it right.

Good catch,

Your friend, Clay (talk) 20:24, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is your evidence that this material comprises a hoax? I have no evidence that the information is true, but without evidence to the contrary, the label "hoax" is a bit heavy to swing around. On the other hand, there may be grounds for removing some or all of this information (no original research, for example). If you can demonstrate that this information is a hoax, I'll be happy to take the appropriate administrative steps. Just let me know. If not, then please take a different tact. Rklawton (talk) 20:43, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I messed up nominating that article for Afd instead of speedy deletion. Should I change it, or just allow it to run its course? Flibbert (talk) 02:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Quit[edit]

I guess I can't do anything right. First the LeRoque page was marked a hoax then the Mountain Man edits were marked as valdalization. In fact, all my edits were marked as vandalization. This is terrible for me. The last thing I wanted was to ruin my good name and have everybody think I'm a jerk. But that's exactly what I did. I'm embarrassed. I've sent links to my family members (mom, uncles, cousins, etc) and of course my edits aren't there and then they go to my user page and see that everyone thinks I'm a vandal. Great. Like they didn't have a low enough opinion of me anyway. (It's believed by some that I'm gay, though I'm not. I just don't want to marry someone because "that's what's done.")

I admit it. I'm not as smart as everyone on Wikipedia. Yes, I dropped out of college. I had to work. My dad was sick and his business was suffering. No, I didn't want to get into the manufacturing business, I wanted to be a writer, but that's not the way things worked out. Since he died, I've been cleaning out the family cabin up north (I live in Rhinelander, WI, the cabin's in Eagle Harbor, UP MI), and I found a huge trove of journals that my grandfather collected. There's some amazing stuff in there. Reading these journals has been the only bright spot in this long, dark period of my life. I was looking forward to really getting into Wikipedia this winter (there's not a lot to do here, especially if you don't hunt, drink and ride snowmobiles). But I guess it's not for me.

That guy Rklawton had some useful information for me, and I'm going to follow up on it. Thanks Rklawton. You're the only person who's been nice to me on this whole website. Maybe there's someone at Nicollet College who can help me. Or maybe down in Wausau at the University. Someone just who'll talk to me.

Oh well. I guess I tried. That's more than a lot of people can say. Needless to say, you don't have to "watch out" for me anymore. I quit.

You are now the poster child for WP:BITE. Please reconsider your approach to handling new editors. You may also wish to consider posting an apology. Rklawton (talk) 16:59, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your apology is accepted ... and appreciated![edit]

Thanks, improbcat. It means a lot to be extended the good faith. I realize I need to figure out how to edit correctly ... and I need to get these journals published and verified! I know you're trying to help. I didn't mean to take it so personal. Sorry about that. Now I feel silly.

Anyway, I appreciate your comment on my talk page and thank you for all the work you do here. Now let's get back to it!!!

The Gungner Theories deletion[edit]

If a .PDF preview of the work were submitted for public review, would that allow the page's continued existence? Also, with a currently unpublished work, would that violate any future copyrights once it is submitted to a publisher? I don't entirely understand Wikipedia's stance on copyrights. If you Google my book title in quotes, 34 of the 36 sites either are me or link to me: [1]Darienfawkes (talk) 16:19, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot! I couldn't find those articles when I was looking to post, and it didn't really occur to me that it could be viewed as spam. I'll stick to what I've got for promotion. Thanks again. Re:Your messege[edit]

Thanks for your messege. I am AfDing using twinkle. When I am using it, it appears that could not connect to today's deletion log. I don't know why this is happening. You can see my monobook configuration User:Otolemur crassicaudatus/monobook.js. Can you suggest if there is any problem with the configuration or why it is happening. HYBRID CARS[edit]

I understand that batteries to get recycled, but according to sources such as www.hybridcars.com, they state that "According to a 2003 report entitled, "Getting the Lead Out," by Environmental Defense and the Ecology Center of Ann Arbor, Mich., an estimated 2.6 million metric tons of lead can be found in the batteries of vehicles on the road today." More cars today are using nickel metal hydride batteries which are not as bad as lead and other batteries, but the cheap price of lead makes it such an easy route to battery production. Companies like Toyota and Honda are recylcing batteries which is good, but we still have toxicity, and companies like Toyota and Honda are funding research to try and get batteries to be lithium ion.
