Art cars[edit]

Hey thanks for helping out with the art car stuff. I'm amused that given your general record with spelling you corrected some of my spelling errors :)

Anyway, I was wondering if you had any pics of artcars from the east coast that you'd be willing to contribute. One criticism that (nameless) made that I think was valid is that most of the cars represented on the page are west coast. I mostly only have pictures of west coast cars at this point since I didn't even get my digicam until shortly before I moved here. Do you have anything from rhode rally or artscape? I think the article could use a good pics of a bunch of cars parked for a parade or show. I'd also like a good shot of a gluey - especially one of the ones with lots of really random seemingly unrelated stuff. And, ya know, any other pics you have that are of stuff not covered so far. Plymouths 19:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just let the spell checker in Firefox do most of it, and found a few Capitalization errors and such. I put some links in your discussion page, I also have the pics from artscape '03 that I never got around to uploading. I'll sort through them for any particularly good ones and email you them or upload them.Improbcat 14:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please sign your post at [Hutman Artcars AfD]. You make some interesting points and I'd hate for anyone to overlook your remarks because they're unsigned. Doczilla 18:01, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you listed a bunch of (unnamed)'s images for deletion. It seems like maybe one or two of them might actually be useable in the art cars article - magnet truck IS a reasonable example of the use of magnets. Or do you think that would just encourage him too much? Plymouths 18:52, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have no strong opinion either way. I marked them because they were all orphaned, same way I deleted the links he put in a few places to his article once it was deleted. I you are planning to use the images feel free to note it and I'll withdraw the deletion request.Improbcat 20:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dealing with Vandals[edit]

Hi there - good work on reverting vandal edits! As a quick (and standard) way of dealing with vandal edits you can post a series of warning messages to their talk pages automatically. The code to post is {{subst:test1}} ~~~~ and that will automatically create a warning. The warning scale is flexible, but can be summarised as test1 for curious test edits, possibly not vandalism just people testing whether they actually can edit pages. test2 if they keep going, test3 for a serious warning and finally test4 as a last "red hand" warning that if they vandalise again they will be blocked. Alternatively if we have someone who is very clearly a vandal then you can posts {{subst:bv}} ~~~~, which is the blatant vandal warning. An account can only (normally) be blocked if it's talk page has a couple of test warnings and a test4 or a bv warning on it - that way the admin who is checking whether the IP can be blocked knows that the person has been given a fair chance to stop and follow the rules - and mostly avoids people being put off wikipedia by being blocked for doing very little (and then not coming back and adding something good). I hope this has been some help to enable you to better deal with the vandal problems, Best Wishes, SFC9394 21:37, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edits to At The Throne of Judgment:[edit]

Your recent edit to At The Throne of Judgment (diff) was reverted by an automated bot. You have been identified as a new user or a logged out editor using a hosting or shared IP address to add email addresses, phone numbers, YouTube, Geocities, Myspace, Facebook, blog, forum, or other such free-hosting website links to a page. Please note that such links are generally to be avoided. You can restore any other content by editing the page and re-adding that content. The links can be reviewed and restored by established users. Thank you for contributing! // VoABot II 18:18, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • By the way, although this bot is going screwy, I did remove the speedy tag from the article because it seems to assert notability as being signed by a notable record label. I also removed the myspace link and spammish language, though, and warned the author not to put it back in. If you still think the subject isn't notable, you can always submit it at WP:AFD. Kafziel Talk 18:41, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • No, I have no argument with your tag removal. At the time I speedied it I missed that they were signed and noted only the reference to and link to their myspace. Improbcat 18:43, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Error in vandalism reporting[edit]

Improbcat: When I visited Wikipedia today, I found a message regarding vandalism of the Miracle-Gro page. Here is what you wrote:

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to the Miracle-gro page. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Improbcat 18:49, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you check the history, you'll find that a person at this IP address didn't vandalize the page, but rather removed the vandalism. My daughter (age 10) had been on the Miracle-Gro page to learn what chemicals are in it for a science project, noticed the "My NAME IS VICKY" text, and took the initiative to remove it herself, and told me about it that day. If you look at the history of that page, it will bear this out.

Just what vandalism are you suggesting we did to that page?

This comment was posted by 70.118.67.236, and responded to on their talk page. Improbcat 20:00, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand why you saw fit to add FOUR tags to my new article. This was a missing article identified in the Insutrial Revolution Template. While I was writing it, an Admin (not you) saw fit to delete where I had started it. The result was that I lost most of what I had initially written. He appears to have reinstated my article, enabling me to continue it, but in the meantime I lost what it had taken half an hour to an hour to write. I had to repeat this work. Perhaps I was less careful with my spelling than the first time (but is that surprising?) I am very prone to making typos and I expect that is all I had done. I was careful to cite all my sources (in Furhter Reading). It is possible that you added tags before I had finsihed, but I would ask you to reconsider the tags that you have added in the light of what I have put on the discussion page. I would also suggest that you beware of putting such tags on very new articles that may still be under construction. Peterkingiron 19:38, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My above reaction was partly due to frustration at the loss of a lot of hard work to the Admin. I have not found a way of running a spell checker on Wiki (except by removing the text to Word (or such like). If there is a way of doing so, I will happily do this myslef as a matter of course. Perhaps I should have used the heading 'references' rather than 'further reading'. However, on one of my early articles, when I put 'sources' some one changed that to 'further reading'; perhaps that editor was mistaken. I am changing this now. Andres Lopez redirect[edit]

Please take a moment to read the five pillars of wikipedia and about the redirect you did to the andres lopez article, please notice there is MOVE link on top of every page, its function is to transfer not only the article but the history of the article and the talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or any wikipedian, you can also write your question along with {{help me}} on this talk page, save it and someone will assist you shortly.--((F3rn4nd0 ))(BLA BLA BLA) 17:42, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reality (Stephen Colbert)[edit]

Did you even read the article? Did you see that I took time and effort to make it factual, NPV and linked from Reality (disambiguation). I would really appreciate an explanation to this deletion. It was not grandiose, self-serving, or angled in any way. It was factual and relevant to a real issue the effects Wikipedia.

Please explain your actions to delete the article within 5 minutes of its posting and not even having the courtesy to email me regarding it.

I think you are being overly aggressive simply for the fact that it related to Stephen Colbert - which was not the focus of the article.

Ok, listen here, this is the free toast nutter.[edit]

Listen here, I am angry. You have taken away my sock pupeteer's dignity, you have take away his page on toast, and you have been a bully. You have even made a 'court case' about me. However, this is the last straw. You created a page for Robertanian123, and have taken away my freedom. How could you? You oppress me like a dictator. Doggy123M 16:48, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't "oppressed" you. All i have done is pointed out your repeated violations of the rules of wikipedia. You have broken the rules, which includes not making nonsense pages, not re-creating nonsense pages, not using sock puppets to circumvent bans, not intentionally misrepresenting yourself, etc. If you had not done any of this, you would never have come to my attention.
There is no such thing as "sock pupeteer's dignity". You are a vandal and a rule-breaker, and as such you are not wanted on wikipedia. You keep claiming as Dom56! that you are reformed, and yet you continue to break the rules. This is not "reformed" this is continued wasting of the time of other editors. -Improbcat 16:55, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How dare you lead my colleague into that terrible trap. Also, you said a sock puppeteer has no dignity. How is that? I thought every human had dignity. Obviously not. Being a sock puppeteer doesn't make me inhuman, does it? I think you've been oppressing and bullying me. Can you please reply to this, I want some answers NOW! How dare you guys! 12:37, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

:Dignity (n): worth; worthiness; the state of being worthy of respect or esteem
Someone who repeatedly and knowingly breaks the rules and guidelines of wikipedia, lies about who they are, and does nothing but vandalize pages and create nonsense which wastes the time of people trying to make actual contributions are not worthy of respect or esteem.
If you want to be treated with dignity, act with dignity. This includes accepting that your free toast page does not meet the guidelines for inclusion in wikipedia and dropping the issue. This means not creating tons of sockpuppets (in violation of the rules) just to harass and annoy the people who are trying to uphold wikipedia's rules.
Also. related to your comment here that "all we want is to own a wiki page". No one "owns" any one page on wikipedia. Everything on wikipedia is "owned" by the community, even your own user page. Thus it is up to the community at large to decide what does and doesn't belong on wikipedia. And your "free toast" page has been decided time and again, but multiple people to not to meet any of the guidelines for inclusion. -Improbcat 15:04, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry...[edit]

I'm so sorry, Improbcat. I've been a complete idiot. What you said about my dignity moved me. This is a sock puppet I've created cos all my others have been blocked. I'm going to use this for good, though, not for vandalism, and evil. I read about a vandal called [Mr oompapa]and I don't want to turn out like him. I'm sorry. Deletion of Battlefield Pirates article[edit]

I can't believe you actually deleted the article on Battlefield Pirates, despite our extensive communication on its talk page as well as my hangon-tag. Furthermore, I promised to add more references (such as one linking to a magazine article), but you barely gave me 24 hours. I cannot see any justification whatsoever -- similar articles about the exact same topic exist already in Wikipedia. Moreover, the article was brand new and was in the process of being improved on. Besides, there are many, many stubs already existing in Wikipedia that work as a launchpad for further development of the article -- just as this article. Jaakovs 20:31, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Improbcat.

So you being blamed by Mike1 for being associated with XP-Vista.. Anyways i know you are not but there is an issue with that site.

xp-vista(dot)com says it helps removing sylocked which is not entirely incorrect.. though lemme tell you some other facts behind it.

This site promotes SpyHunter.. former rogue application..

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm#sh_note

When you download some tool for removal from this site you end up downloading spyhunter which would ask for $$ for removing spylocked.

you can check that.

Cheers ES101

You removed links to forums[edit]

Hello,

I noticed that you removed links to forums which had best tools for removal of spylocked and drantispy stating that forums links are not to be posted in external links according to wiki policies.

I Respect that so for adding free tools which are listed and highly popular downloads at download.com and also are totally ad free, can we add these links?

Second one has over 7 K downloads and 4 star feedback

Be assured that if they are on download.com and CNET sites they are ad free. Lemme know your thoughts... I thought that it would be a good decision to add a tool which is free and best for the malware removal.

I agree it should be deleted! I was just moving the page from a poor redirect because someone messaged me. That page is pathetic. I agree; it should be deleted. Timneu22 17:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, the image fits none of the CSD criteria. If you really want it deleted (for whatever reasons you may have), you might want to send it through WP:IFD. That's my take. Yeah, I know, it's a long process, but CSD criteria are narrowly defined. I'm sorry that you have received conflicting messages. —Kurykh 21:33, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for my slowness in resonding to your comment. Yes, the article was Complete bollocks. But I note that Complete bollocks is an essay, not a speedy deletion criterion. SDC G1 is for pure gibberish, not studip ideas. The fact that you were able to summerize the ideas of this article in such a way as to meet my own understanding of the article demonstrated that it is not gibberish. This article was a false defintion of a term supported by incorrect fact. That makes it a hoax, which explicitly is not covered by G1. Dsmdgold 12:13, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Judging by the apology on the article's talkpage, I think he's got the idea now (I suspect English isn't his first language). If he removes the CSD tag once more bring him straight back to AfD. Thanks, ELIMINATORJR 18:26, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ronald A. Carson[edit]

Hello. I appreciate all of the fine work that you do. We need more people like you. I was hoping for your assistance with the page Ronald A. Carson. I have re-created it on several occasions so that it would meet the necessary standards. I have even included sources like the aurora advocate and articles in that paper that were specifically written about Ronald A. Carson. He is a political operative and wonderkid. Thousands upon thousands of yound africa-americans saw his page and they somehow felt that if he could be successful, they could be successful. President's, Senators, Governor's, Actors and athletes have also worked alongside Ronald A. Carson, his story deserves to be told, he is notewothty. The articles in the aurora advocate are neutral third party accounts of his notability. He is the beacon of hope for so many african-americans who feel that they have no chance in this world, please assist with allowing his page to be permanent, you would be doing a great deed for so many who looked at his page and were inspired to do great things. Thanks again for your help.

Alinob77 16:58, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for getting back to me. Your advice is appreciated. I have been able to contact the editor of The Aurora Advocate and have retrieved a couple of newspaper articles featuring Carson. I have also been informed that they are in the process of putting these articles online, which would give them a url that can be used on a Ronald A. Carson page. Once that is done, this would satisfy the third party source that is lacking. Also, Carson has been the point person/strategist in cities across the country for President Clinton, Vice-President Gore, Senators Lieberman, Edwards, Kerry and now Clinton. He is a political strategist in the mold of a James Carville, or a Paul Begala. This is what makes him notable, becasue he is so young, a wonderkid if you will. Also, it should not go without notice that he is African-American and let's be frank, this is an accomplishment that not many African-American's can boast of. This is why this "story needs to be told" it serves as inspiration for the throngs of African-Ameican youth who feel that if Carson can do these things, why not them. So, I will find the url's to the sources and then I hope that, after this, you will assist me in making Ronald A. Carson a permanent page on wikipedia--thanks again.

That is pretty apparent. I like what you said about all of these comments being in the Wiki server and people will see them if they use search engines. Very good point. For some reason I think there will be more socks if this doesn't get closed quickly as it should be. - Rjd0060 18:51, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To conclude this little fiasco, I posted a note on the Administrators Noticeboard and the article was salted. - Rjd0060 14:19, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Really? I was not aware of that. Well, I'm keeping it in my watchlist in case it returns. - Rjd0060 14:22, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pristine images[edit]

Nominate them at WP:IFD. Since they are not unused unfree (WP:CFD#I5) I cannot speedy them. Merely being unused is not a speedy reason. Cheers, Carlossuarez46 16:59, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
