Six sigma[edit]

If you want any chance of Six sigma being a redirect to Standard deviation rather than Six Sigma, you need to explain why and discuss it first. Whether you think Six Sigma is an outdated theory or not is irrelevant, personally I'm not a fan of it either but that's beside the point. Wiki policy is that redirects from alternate capitalisation point towards the correctly capitalised article, not to some other topic entirely, where six sigma isn't even mentioned directly in the text. (Add) If you want to propose Six sigma as a disambiguation page and list both as valid links for the term then fine but discuss now. There's another wiki policy WP:BRD, you're at the D stage now. NtheP (talk) 23:25, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Six Sigma (as opposed to Six sigma)[edit]

In this edit, you added "coinciding with the Japanese asset price bubble which is reflected in its terminology". That's the first time I've heard of that. Where can I read more that explains that connection? Thanks. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 06:34, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The rapid growth of the Japanese economy during the 1980s led many people to believe it would overtake the United States economy, and Japanese culture gained unusual attention and popularity for several years. One of the resulting fads was karate (cf. The Karate Kid). Some of the developers of "Six Sigma" had such interest in karate that they introduced a very strange conception of the already peculiar and idiosyncratic American karate belt system. [1]
