Cain Velasquez and Flag for UFC 121[edit]

I changed Chain Velasquez's flag to Mexico as per MOS:FLAG#Use of flags for sportspeople because the UFC is advertising he is competing in this event and will be representing Mexico. Specifically they state he is "trying to become the first Mexican UFC Champion." The MoS state that an athlete's flag should be of their sporting nationality, not true nationality. Therefore, for this event, the Mexican flag is the most appropriate. You reverted my changes without any form of edit summary or explanation. Flag icons[edit]

Hello. Before this edit war gets any worse please see the discussion on flag icons in the MMA project here. The current consensus is that we should not put flag icons in infoboxes or in the records tables. This consensus is in line with Wikipedia guidelines which you can read at MOS:FLAG. If you disagree with this discussion you can work to build a new consensus at the talk page linked to above. In the meantime since a consensus was reached to not keep inserting flag icons I would ask that you respect the consensus reached by your fellow editors and not to insert flag icons into the MMA articles. I would suggest you review the guidelines at the MMA Wikiproject in regards to renaming of event links in fight record tables. Specifically, the wiki-links for events should not be renamed. In some cases, the Foundation may be required to remove content from a Wikimedia Project due to a DMCA take-down notice. In order to retain safe harbor status, the Foundation is required to comply with validly formulated notices even if they are spurious. We have received a DMCA takedown on the above mentioned filed.

Wikimedia Foundation has published the take-down request at wmf:Category:DMCA.

As a matter of policy, the Wikimedia Foundation will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of repeat infringers as provided under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512).
