Glad to hear that you're getting better. I afraid not for the time being actually, time constrains and the killer workload I've to handle in real life means that I have to keep it as it is for the time being. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 17:34, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TFD[edit]

I'm curious about your voting at Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2006_May_24#Template:HalJordan. You voted to subst and delete {{applecomputer}}, yet you vote to keep {{KyleRayner}}, which has the exact same rationale for deletion, without giving an explanation. What's your rationale? Night Gyr 16:57, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious about this and still haven't seen a response from you. Night Gyr 15:30, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to an MFD nomination[edit]

On Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Requests for comment/John Bambenek you suggested that the nomination had been a case of WP:POINT. The nominator took that quite badly. You may have been right, but I think you'd have been better off stating your case without the accusation. Please assume good faith when dealing with other editors. See Wikipedia:Assume good faith for the guidelines on this. Happy editing! --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 09:41, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to say that the anon shouldn't take it too personally. Yes, I do assume good faith, but I do have to point out that the other editor who voted keep also mentioned that the anon IP is making a point. What I write there is not to be taken personally. However, I am feeling that I'm going too far at times. --Terence Ong 09:48, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, the anon should assume your good faith too. You and stillnotelft may well have been right, but you didn't need to say so, you could have made the same point and simply missed out the accusation. That's what the WP:AGF policy means. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 09:53, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Canon[edit]

I will be grateful if you will let me know what Roman Canon treats of other than what Text and rubrics of the Roman Canon is about. That will change my mind about considering it duplication. Of course, I do not refer to its few words on the History of the Roman Canon, which is dealt with in immeasurably greater depth in the article of the same name. Lima 14:25, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Bowlby article[edit]

Thank you for attempting to improve the version of the John Bowlby article with the addition of links (popups).

I don't know if you've yet noticed, but it was reverted within 5 minutes!

I've tried to compare to see what you added, but the oddities of the diff function made that difficult. You might look at my version, and let me know if I missed anything that you had added. (This being my "morning revert", I also made some other improvements, as is my wont.)

BTW, how do you identify revisions by number? I'm so callow at Wikipedia editing that I have yet to learn such arcana.

Larry Sarner 16:16, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I discovered how you identified the revisions. (All I had to do was look!) Thanks, anyway. Sarner

RE:MRT image[edit]

Images on Commons don't need to be uploaded on Wikipedia? Then, what about the Now Commons tag? Is the tag redundant? Does this mean that I absolutely CANNOT upload images from Commons to Wikipedia? Does this mean that I can transfer the images on Commons to Wikipedia directly without downloading it first on my PC? Am I making a mistake here regarding the usage of images on Commons and on Wikipedia? By the way, I am not uploading my own images. I just downloaded them from Commons to my PC and transferred them to Wikipedia. Am I violating any official policy of Wikipedia by doing this? I hope that you can help me out in this area of Wikipedia as I have currently little experience in dealing with Image issues. Anyway, thank you for your feedback on this matter. --Siva1979Talk to me 04:02, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(Allow me to reply, Terence? :) Normally there is no need to transfer images from Commons to Wikipedia. The very idea behind Commons is to have a common store of images that are immediately usable in all Wikimedia wikis (such as Chinese Wikipedia, Malay Wikipedia, English Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikinews, ...) once they are uploaded onto Commons. Hence Wikipedia will immediately "see" an image when you upload it to Commons without any extra steps. Images on Wikipedia that are duplicates of Commons images are tagged so that they can be removed - no need to waste valuable disk space on 2 copies of the same file.
That said, an image uploaded to Wikipedia is not the same as an image uploaded to Commons. Internally their file storage areas are separate - for example, Wikipedia stores fair use images that are not permitted on Commons. In special cases duplication of a Commons image might be needed, but for normal users like us, we'll never have to duplicate a Commons image on Wikipedia. If you spot a duplicate, tag it for the sysops to remove the Wikipedia copy. Kimchi.sg 16:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I wish to thank you for making this clear to me! --Siva1979Talk to me 19:42, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking Editor Review Commentary (If You Like)[edit]

Hi. In conjunction with my RfA (that you voted on), I have created an editor review, to give people a chance to comment as to ways in which I can branch out or alter my contributions to Wikipedia. An RfA seems to solely focus on how one's temperment and contributions relate to how they might handle administrative powers (and the consensus on that seems to be that I'm not quite ready); the editor review opens things up a little more to a larger focus, and I'd love to hear community feedback in the sense of that larger focus, too. If you feel you've already expressed yourself sufficiently when casting your vote, then by all means don't worry about it, but if any thoughts come to mind or if you'd like to expound upon any suggestions or commentary, it would be appreciated. In any case, I appreciated you taking the time to express your opinion on my RfA, and I thank you for that. — WCityMike (talk • contribs) 19:55, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey...

I am one of the people who run the Darkonin, a kingdom in the online Mud Dark and Shattered Lands. Some people are trying to get it deleted due to lack of "notablility." I got your name off the World of Warcraft history, if you would post on the talk page about how it is sort of notable, as if that isn't notable, neither is anything about World of Warcraft, or many a fantastical novel.

Thanks.

My RfA[edit]

I64s/Archive 6, thank you for participating in my RfA. Unfortunately, a great number of oppose voters felt that I lacked experience, and a consensus was not reached (the final tally was 30/28/10). Adminship?[edit]

I feel that it is time for you to play a bigger role in Wikipedia. You have over 10,000 edits and that is impressive. Moreover, you have been here for nearly one year. On a personal note, it pains me to view you as a normal user despite all these edits. Would you consider running for adminship? I am ready to nominate you if you give me the green light. I strongly and sincerely believe that if you are given the extra tools, Wikipedia would be much, much better off. --Siva1979Talk to me 02:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My Thanks[edit]

I wanted to drop a brief note on your talk page (one admittedly not written to you only, but nevertheless truly meant) to thank you for your vote in my Request for Adminship, which concluded this evening. Even though it was unsuccessful, it did make clear to me some areas in which I can improve my contributions to Wikipedia, both in terms of the areas in which I can participate and the manner in which I can participate. I do plan on, at some point in the future (although, I think, not the near future), attempting the process again, and I hope you will consider participating in that voting process as well. This happens occasionally, someone adds something, but, for whatever reason, part of the text is cut out at an unusual position. My RFA[edit]

Terence Ong, thank you very much for your support in my recent Request for adminship, it passed with a final tally of (65/3/3) - which I find both amazing and humbling. I wish I had time to thank everyone personally, but I'm afraid all I can offer is this token of my gratitude. I hope to live up to your expectations/hopes. If at any stage you need to contact me, for help or a request or to point out a mistake in my conduct, please make sure to tell me on my talk page. --Fir0002 08:19, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA[edit]

I am sorry to inform you that your Request for Adminship (RfA) has failed to reach sufficient consensus for promotion, and has now been delisted and archived. Please do not look upon this outcome as a discouragement, but rather as an opportunity to improve. Try to address the concerns raised during your RfA and, in a few months' time, resubmit your request. Thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity! Shame. Give it time, my friend. Just zis Guy you know? 14:49, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Bad luck. Leave it a couple of months. You never know, the community might come round! Just remember that you are an excellent and respected editor around here. See you around. haz (user talk) 15:17, 13 June 2006

Will you still be joining us on the 23rd in light of your Wikibreak? Kimchi.sg 15:20, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keep up your good work and I will still support you.--Jusjih 17:06, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a shame your nomination failed, but you're quite welcome anyways. Better luck next time! --Merovingian {T C @} 19:35, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't expect it should be too much longer. Happy editing! RadioKirk (u|t|c) 20:27, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will miss your photos while you're away. You may not make a good admin now in some people's eyes, but right now you're a good editor! :) Kimchi.sg 03:11, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was my pleasure to support your RFA and I'm sorry it didn't work out...this time. You'll be back and eventually succeed. Cheers. PJM 03:22, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry it did not pass, but don't worry! I will support you next time, as I did this time. It will be better next time around.--Kungfu Adam (talk) 10:32, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA[edit]

You're most definately welcome! But eventually, you'll get the mop, so don't be down! You're much deserving of it! Эйрон Кинни (t) 05:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

T-dot[edit]

Terence man, I don't know what to say. I'm shocked and chagrined that your RfA didn't pass. You've done so much for Wikipedia man, and it's a real shame that things didn't go through. I hope you enjoy your wikibreak (time off is always a good thing), watch the World Cup, chill for a bit, but then come back better than ever!! And adminship will happen for you... Trust me. In the interim, just leave me a message or e-mail me if there's anything you need from an admin standpoint. And take care man. Would be a shame if a bright light like you got dimmed on Wikipedia -- Samir धर्म 08:27, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
