File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Platthead.jpg[edit]

 Doing...

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Platthead.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 17:06, 15 February 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:06, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Searles Castle Gate.jpg missing description details[edit]

 Fixed

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Searles Castle Gate.jpg is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:13, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:With colorwheel icon.jpg[edit]

 Fixed

Thanks for uploading File:With colorwheel icon.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:24, 15 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:24, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MHP mediation[edit]

I don't see you on the list of parties requesting mediation. Please explain what your involvement is with the article. Andrevan@ 20:45, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'm an interested bystander at this time. Was quite active about five years ago but began to lose interest in editing this article a couple of years ago as the the arguments became redundant and saw some of the editors becoming intransigent. I love this article and so have continued to watchlist the current proceedings in hopes of seeing this yearlong saga resolved. Please let me know if my comments are unwelcome because of my not being on the list of parties requesting mediation. I didn't realize that there was a policy about this. hydnjo (talk) 21:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you feel that your interests are not being represented with the current group of participants? The more people involved in the mediation, the harder it becomes to manage. Andrevan@ 05:56, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, not at all. I think that my impatience has taken over my keyboard! I've made some intemperate comments and to my embarrassment, directed at you and I apologize for that last comment, I realize how difficult this particular case is and that I didn't help with my comments. Thanks for bringing this to my talk page - you've gotten my attention and that's what a mediator does. I'll gladly step back let the principals have their pagespace without my interference. Best wishes to you with this difficult mediation. hydnjo (talk) 23:28, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not to worry. I've added you a section since we are switching to Arbitration style, so feel free to participate now. Best wishes, Andrevan@ 16:02, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your considerate invitation however I don't believe I can add anything that hasn't already been proposed and well articulated by Rick. For the record, I don't agree with either the Martin or Glkanter positions regarding Morgan. I believe that a WP FA needs to be comprehensive and fairly represent the creditable published literature. A simpler and less scholarly presentation can be found at simple:Monty Hall problem and perhaps that could be noted in the article. hydnjo (talk) 15:46, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Platthead.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Platthead.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 00:19, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete, no permission at this time. hydnjo (talk) 13:02, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please include the in-line citation into the article. Otherwise POV applies. Thanks,

Maths ref desk[edit]

Hi! I'm curious, why did you consider this edit to be vandalism? It's not the most intelligent question we've ever had, but I see no evidence of bad faith. Is the user a sockpuppet of someone I'm not recognising? --Tango (talk) 02:13, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem with the question but it was posted by a banned user. His multi-year history has the same M.O. - lots of disruption, blanking, hundreds of socks, etc. We would like nothing more than for him (originally User:Light current) to establish a new identity and contribute in a productive manner which he is quite capable of doing. He has started down this path several times but then reverts to his prior unacceptable persona. His method on the RDs is to pose several snickeringly childish questions (How big is Uranus?) with an occasional legitimate question (as you spotted). Some of us have elected to not sort out the good/bad posts but instead to revert on sight. It is our hope that he gets the message and comes back without the traits that got him banned. hydnjo (talk) 02:34, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Let it be...[edit]

Ironically I edit conflicted with your post at the Reference desk :-D. I won't add to that discussion any more, but what did you mean by "let it be"?--Commander Keane (talk) 03:46, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just a whimsical reference to the Beatles song suggesting opposition to your proposal. In other words let's not introduce another layer of overhead burden. Regards, hydnjo (talk) 14:06, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

why small[edit]

Well, I for one was whispering because it's the small hours over here. Anyway, nice to meet you. Haploidavey (talk) 01:14, 21 August 2010 (UTC) Oh, Aerosmith! Great link - saw them live at Wembley, years ago. Of course, this was back in the days when I was allowed out on my own. Haploidavey (talk) 01:18, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good to meet you as well. My mind sometimes thinks that small = keyboard quiet so that Heidi doesn't think that I'm surfing for naughty stuff ;-) Thanks for your humorous helpfulness at the HD. BTW, Steven fell off the stage - again! hydnjo (talk) 01:37, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That list[edit]

It looks like not everyone thinks it's a good thing that we 've been adding signatures before asking (see here). Should we change the list to plain and boring user names? What do you think? ---Sluzzelin talk 23:09, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No to plain usernames as it defeats the purpose of memory jogging which is useful and besides 1/240 ain't bad. Having said that, we probably shouldn't ignore even that small fraction so how about something like:
If you don't object I would like to add your signature to this list. Regular doesn't mean frequent on a daily basis, nor does it mean with a fixed pattern (in other words, it doesn't mean regular). It just means editors who, time and again, help out at the desks. Please comment here If you object or not to being on that list. If you want to be on the list but prefer to add yourself please feel free to do so. The presence of your signature on the list does not put you into any category. hydnjo (talk) 01:23, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Thanks! ---Sluzzelin talk 01:43, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just to say your lumen question was quite clear[edit]

Well I sincerely thank you for being so thoughtful as to comment here. I'll admit to doing some tongue biting with some of those responses but I knew that some others would come to the rescue ;-) hydnjo (talk) 20:28, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mind taking a look at the MHP mediation?[edit]

The article OS-X has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability problem; looks like someone's hobby project.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Qwertyus (talk) 23:55, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for the above (Twinkle-generated) message; it appears that you only created a redirect to OS X. I'll notify the author of the actual article currently at OS-X. Qwertyus (talk) 23:56, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
