Hi Hybernator. Great work on the railways of Myanmar! Just a quick heads up that the circular railway in Yangon is Yangon Circular Railway, not railways in the plural. cf. [1]
Thanks. I've gone back and forth between the two. I started the article with the singular but have found the plural used in other places. e.g. [2]. It might be better to name it Yangon Circular Railway Line (although technically, it is no longer circular nor a single rail-line as it has at least a branch line to Dagon university. Well, google throws up 3 links for Yangon Circular Railways of which two are to this article, and 9 for Yangon Circular Railway of which one is to wikipedia and one is to another site where you've contributed the article! So, I guess, it's not clear at all. I have a copy of an Air Mandalay magazine article that calls it "Yangon Circular Railway". Generally, Railway is preferred for a single railway company regardless of the number of lines (thus, in India, it is Indian Railways for the holding company but Central Railway or Northern Railway for each individual railway company). Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

I reverted your deletion about Yangonites carrying stashes of cash. Well, stashes of cash doesn't mean buying power. In Yangon's (and Burma's) case, it simply means high inflation, not wealth. And people don't have access to credit or debit cards, so yes, even regular people have to carry lots of cash. Very annoying problem. I can see now what you are trying to say but it was really written badly and misleadingly. "Stacks of cash" used in an encyclopedia looks very amateurish and it wa smisleading as if you were trying to claim everybody was reall rich and floating in money. Say something like, "Due to the problems of high inflation and the fact that many of the population do not have access to credit or debit cards, it is common to see citizens carrying a considerable amount of cash." A lot of that section reads as original research. You need to reference such claims.
Anyway is always good to see people from places like Burma on here, if you have any photographs or anything of places across Burma please upload them!!

I'm currently working on a family tree of Burmese monarchs, but I'm having some problems:
First of all, I don't know how Mohnyinthado of Ava is related to Kalekyet Taungnyo of Ava; same thing with
Minkhaung II and Thihathura of Ava
Hkonmaing and Thohanbwa of Ava
Sithu Kyaw Htin and Mobye Narapati of Ava
Zein Pun and Saw Zein of Hanthawaddy
Smim Sawhtut and Takayutpi of Hanthawaddy.
Swasawke of Ava and the Three Shan Brothers/Bagan dynasty (In the list you say that Swaske is descended from both the Three Shan brothers and the Bagan dynasty, but you don't say in what way)
If you or no one knows how they are related, or if they aren't related, tell me and I'll put unknown relationship or not related on the family tree.
Second of all, you say Thohanbwa of Ava is the son of "Sawlun the Mohnyin conqueror." Is he somehow related to the kings of Ava?

To call the events before 1569 a revolt is wrong, the Burmese sources states clearly that this is the case, but the truth is much more complicated. The Burmese sources states rather plainly that the Siamese King (without specify who it was) went into monkhood and was taken to Pegu, left the monastery and revolted against Bayinnaung. This is not entirely the case. In accordance with Siamese and Laotian sources after Siam was made a tributary in 1564 the status of Ayutthaya was lowered and that of Phitsanulok was raised. This jealously boiled into conflict when King Maha Chakkraphat and Prince Mahin decided to ally himself with Setthathirath of Vientiane (who had been in conflict with Bayinnaung). When King Maha Chakkraphat send one of his daughters to marry Setthathirath and become allies, Thammaracha had her kidnapped and sent to Pegu, this is when in accordance with Siamese history Maha Chakkarphat abdicated (in shame among other things). The new King Mahintharathirat, decided to wage war on Phitsanulok and found an opportunity to take it with the help of the Laotians when Thammaracha was in Pegu. Thammaracha appealed for help and Bayinnauang reinvaded with an army. This is possibly when Maha Chakkraphat returned from the monkhood at the request of his son.
So firstly to call the 1569 a 'revolt' is an understatement as this is clearly not the case, it was a case of civil war between two tributaries, in fact there is really no word to try and sum up the long story beforehand. Secondly there is no need to define a war in one word or phrase in the article of another war 20 years earlier, the intro is fine as it is. Please, really, if you want to contribute bring new sources and new information and not try and change and have issues with just the intro, it is rather petty and tiresome for someone else who really worked hard and who had read as extensively as he can to be belittled and treated in such uncivil manner. Alright, I will drop my objection to your sentence in the intro. That issue settled, I would like you to understand that I have NO viewpoint. The history and facts are all good, I have no object to any of your viewpoints or facts (I have stated this several times). Look my only objections were Wikipedia and semantic ones, I initially did not agree with using 'revolt' because I thought that that was leaving out crucial information. And if all of these facts are not all summarized (or described accurately by one word), then they should be omitted altogether and addresses in its own article. That is all.
Okay here's the other part, I have stated before in our previous discussion that if there is a third party source that mentions that the story involving Queen Suriyothai is not collaborated in Burmese sources (or even if she exists) and is mostly Siamese legend then please bring it over and lets put it in here, in fact lets put it in HER article as well. I have absolutely and resolutely no objection to that. The only hang-ups are that it must be a third party source. I agree with you, and would like to put down the fact that she is not in any Burmese sources but just because both of us hasn't found any mention of her in Burmese books does not give it enough credence and is considered original research, which is forbidden on Wikipedia. The article is important for both our histories, and I really hope that you start believing that I have no ulterior motives, lets put all of that other stuff aside and just improve it instead. You don’t have to threaten me with putting in sources, Please do it!

No, thank you for helping out with Burmese topics. I have data on where each township is located in relation to other townships but nothing else. All population data in Myanmar are just estimates since no official census has been conducted since 1983. Even the population data from the UN for Yangon and Mandalay cities are just guessitmates. Hello! I wanted to thank you for your anti-vandalism efforts, in particular in regard to the Myanmar Radio and Television article. Just so you know, by the way, when an article (such as Myanmar Radio and Television) is moved as part of a vandalism attack, it's actually not a good idea to copy and paste the original text back into the article. Doing that both breaks the copyright attribution needed by Wikipedia (take a look at Wikipedia:Copyrights for the boring details, but if you remember to not do cut-and-paste move fixing, that's enough, and it also makes fixing the move a little bit harder -- but since the vandalism is continuing, I'm going to have to get and admin to whack some sense into the violators and move the articles back. Right now I'm planning on a new article on U Bein Bridge. I'm not sure though I can find much on it. If so it will probably be a DYK next week. Sometime it would be nice to have a GA on Yangon or Mandalay.... Oh about the townships... I requested that somebody draw me a blank map long ago so I could make locator maps for each of them but the graphics workshop are highly inactive I'm afraid. Yes, I'd noticed your excellent work on that. I wondered if you could help me. There is this new TV presenter in the UK who is obviously of Asian parentage but I've been trying to figure out from her looks exactly what country her parents/a parent is from. See this. Her name is Jameela Jamil which I'm 95% sure is a Pakistani name or possible Bangladesh. But from her looks there is something about her face which looks like she has some Burmese heritage or possibly Bangladeshi I don't know. She looks more Burmese to me than Pakistani. What do you think? If I was to guess I'd probably say Bangladeshi... From her looks it might be possible she has both Burmese and Pakistani ancestors. What do you think? Actually in thinking about it she might be of Malaysian heritage. South Asian names are very common in Malaysia aren't they? I was wondering why you changed the IPA for သမ္မတ in the Burma article to θàɴməda̰, where the "tha" has a nasalized final. I guess the spelling would imply that but most I've heard have never pronounced it as "θàɴ" as in "iron" (သံ). I'm pretty sure that the "tha" is pronounced as an open vowel--I've never heard it pronounced otherwise. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if the schwa (what I put) is the best approximate, either. What are your thoughts on this? Hi Hybernator, could you help me expand the Burmese royal titles section, since you seem rather well-versed in this period in Burmese history? (and proofread my Burmese spellings as well?) I wasn't sure how to spell the "Anaukrapa" part of Maha Uparaza Anaukrapa Einshay Min because I've honestly never heard of the word before in Burmese. Perhaps it's rupa. Also, how would you spell "Putra" in "Shwe Kodawgyi Razaputra"? I spelt it as ပုတြ but that's a guess at best. It could just be that the transliterations from the source I used [4] are incorrect. Quality of some of the town articles is definately improving... I've created and started Template:Roads in Burma. Eventually I may have all of the national roads started but its time consuming working out the coordinates! Is National Road 36 (Burma) the correct name or is State Highway 36 (Burma) more correct. Please note that you can't just go around automatically changing "Division" to "Region" in the category and template links. The categories and the templates have to actually be moved to the new titles first, or else you're just breaking the links and decategorizing the pages. You can nominate the relevant categories for renaming through the WP:CFR process — but you have to leave the category link on an article at the old name, even if it's now wrong, until the category has actually been physically renamed to the new title.
