UCL Versus SSC Census Population Figures

I have received previous criticism for using Urban Centre / Locality Census Population Figures as opposed to State Suburb. It is my understanding when describing a town, it would be preferable to refer to the UCL figure where available (as it describes the population associated with the urban area) rather than the State Suburb (which can often include surrounding rural populations and excludes multi-suburb urban areas). I note that you also regularly update census population figures and was wondering what you thoughts were on this matter?

To be perfectly honest from my side of the story, I would go ahead with what has been used for the previous census data, however there are a very small number cases where a change of type might be necessary, so I agree with your statement to a certain extent. An equal proportion of the Tasmanian census data that has been updated from my side appears to be using UCL instead of SSCs (some of the smaller villages might be State Suburbs instead of UCLs). Yeah, I was trying to manually revert some IP vandalism because what the IP did was mess up the structure of the RFPP page (for which I warned the IP on their talk) and RFPP is a high traffic page and the edits from the IP went unnoticed between the time the IP made that edit and when users put new protection requests so when I was trying to undo it, it was creating a mess on my part.
