I have one question. I recently come across a page that has incorrect name and I corrected it based on the Bloomberg Profile. Do we Wikipedians consider Bloomberg Company profile as reliable, neutral and notable resource? HorizonHarmony (talk) HorizonHarmony (talk) 19:35, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Mr. Rasel Hasan. It means we have to consider General Notability Guideline, without checking if it's some prestigious website such as Bloomberg, or some normal website? If a regular News, or Article sites qualifies the General Notability Guideline, we can use that as reference, but if some high authority website uses paid/sponsored tag then we should not use it, right? OR if some high domain authority even uses the Paid/promotional tag in article we can still use it because they publish after verify the info during their fact check process? Carbon COI?[edit]

Based on one of your edit summaries, I think you indicated that you are not associated with the company, but - for the sake of transparency - I want to elicit a statement from you about whether you have a connection or not. Thanks. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:49, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Jmcgnh, Thanks for looking into it. I am not associated and have no connection with the company. I am just learning this Wikipedia and this task came to me as suggestion. So Looked at the article to see if I can improve. Can you please tell me how to mention this while editing that I am not associated/connected? Like I have to add any specific tag in the source code? HorizonHarmony (talk) HorizonHarmony (talk) 17:03, 23 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This section on your user talk page should be a sufficient explanation to anyone who was wondering about a conflict of interest. You don't need to add anything to your edits or edit summaries to keep denying that you have no connection.
At some point in the future, you made decide to archive or delete this section, but - by that time - I expect you'll have a diverse enough set of edits that it won't occur to anyone to wonder. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:12, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thanks for the details. It means if anyone ask here, then I should respond if there is any COI or not. and if no one asks, then no need to mention by myself on my User Talk Page. Right? HorizonHarmony (talk) 13:54, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JmcgnhI have another question. For some users their username shows different color. Like your username shows Green and (contribs) written and for some it shows some other color. My user shows Red. Is that something the level of user and thier color identification or something else? or I haven't setup my user properly? HorizonHarmony (talk) 13:59, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your username in red is a link to your not-yet-created user page. To change the color to blue, all you need to do is click on the red link and add some content, perhaps saying a few things about you and your Wikipedia editing.
There is also a place in your Preferences where you can set up a customized signature. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:42, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I have just done that and now my user shows green. Can you check if it qualifies the Wikipedia requirements. I have not mentioned any personal info, just a slight intro. Also tell me your user shows (talk) and (contribs), what does it means. It means you are on talk page and you are contributor or have done enough contributions, or it's something different? HorizonHarmony (talk) 21:46, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your new user page looks just fine. Your user name now shows up as blue for me, not green. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:27, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

USPTO Trademark Link is a Reliable Source for Notability?[edit]

Hello, I recently come across the page that has some notability issue. I would like to confirm do we consider USPTO Trademark Registration Page link as Notable and Reliable that has further information about the company, Logo, Business Name, and other details or no? As an example https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=97422301&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch HorizonHarmony (talk) 00:53, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:PATENTS for more details, but the answer to your main question is that "no, patents do not help establish notability". They are treated as primary sources and can be used in limited ways to support certain facts. So the names of the patent applicants and other data like that is probably okay, but the actual claims of the patent are still just claims and not considered to have been verified. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:06, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
