February 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Scott Mac (Doc) 21:44, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Sandahl (talk) 22:35, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recorded Sound Collections[edit]

Howdy, sorry for the long delay in getting back to you. Sandahl happened to go on vacation when you wrote, so no one got your message right away (I happened to see it by accident, but would be happy to help). A bit of background on some problems with external links here on Wikipedia, we get a lot of people who try and promote their web content by adding links to it on a lot of pages. Since this is a routine problem, I suspect Sandahl saw links to the same site being added to a bunch of pages and that looked a bit like problematic editing (despite your good intentions). Given the generally educational nature of your links, it doesn't seem like the sort of problem that I described above. But to be on the safe side, I would suggest putting the link you'd like to add to the talk page of the article first, along with a note as to why you think it should be in the article. If no one objects in a few days, go ahead and add it back to the article. Also if you notice a link which is going to a page which violates someone's copyright, you are certainly welcome to remove it (be sure to note that in the edit summary). You may also be interested in checking out external links policy, but I think this may have been more a case of misunderstanding than anything else. If you run into any more difficulty, please don't hesitate to write a note on the bottom of my talk page. Thanks for your work on Wikipedia! --TeaDrinker (talk) 03:06, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
