National varieties of English

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page ITV Wales & West, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the first author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you.  Dr Greg  talk  00:47, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Ah, I was using antivandal, which is a tool I'm slightly unfamiliar with. I looked at the edit, and I thought there was something else added. But when I saw what it actually was, I regretted reverting that because it was a good-faith correction. I think I'll go back to RW or Twinkle, because I have a propensity for making hasty decisions and mistakes with antivandal. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 00:49, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Orlando Magic arena change

Hello HistoryTheorist,

The Orlando Magic's arena was renamed today.[1] I understand that it may be considered vandalism if the changes are unexplained. Just wanted to let you know. 47.153.148.108 (talk) 05:10, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

See the reply on the talk page. Your edits are good faith and I've blanked all warnings. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 05:11, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Removal of my edit on Greg Foran

Hey I didn't include a citation because the information is in the existing citation. Specifically this part of the article.

>He rose through the ranks of Woolworths quickly, becoming a manager at age 20. At 48, he was in line for CEO of the Australian supermarket chain, but missed out on the opportunity and finished up with the company shortly after.

Saying that he was in line but not elaborating is a bit confusing hence why I added it after reading the article after being confused myself as to whether or not he was the CEO of Woolworths. Traumnovelle (talk) 06:11, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

I'll let the edit be. Sometimes AV (Antivandal) can be a bit feisty and sometimes edits can be taken out of context, leading me to revert good faith edits. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 06:20, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
It's usually best to check, remember that AntiVandal has the line "Warning: You take full responsibility for any action you perform using AntiVandal." It's always helpful for other editors to include an edit summary to explain why you're reverting the change. Happy editing! —Panamitsu (talk) 07:49, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
I'll probably uninstall anti vandal. I've made too many mistakes and I think I want to focus on actual writing. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 20:07, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

Resignation from being an antivandal

I've made too many mistakes to keep this up. I might still do a bit of reverting with RW but I need to stop this downward spiral before it becomes something bad. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 20:20, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

Zio

Zio has become a significant word/nickname/slur on X/Twitter over the last two and a half months. How do I cite that? Newer references rarely have expert sources to cite... APaul2021 (talk) 02:38, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

@APaul2021: Okay, if you want to cite a specific tweet, see the cite tweet template. I would also try to look for reliable tech journals or newspapers that have covered that word, like Ars Technica. Try looking at this guide to reliable sources for help or if you want to see what Wikipedia thinks about specific sources, see this guide. Hope that helps! ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 17:59, 23 December 2023 (UTC)

A concerning use of rollback

Your use of rollback here is an egregious violation of the rollback policy to suppress discussion by an IP editor. I would therefore ask that you explain your action in a sufficient manner, as well as your erroneous warning to the IP. Thanks. EggRoll97 (talk) 04:58, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

My action (and some others) was a complete mistake caused by the tool Antivandal, and is one reason why I no longer use the tool. I'm sorry for any reverts of good faith edits. I have stepped back and only use RedWarn for getting rid of obvious vandalism. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 05:02, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
I might suggest, by the way, that you apologize directly to the IP. Their talk page is this-a-way, and they're human too. EggRoll97 (talk) 05:07, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
I'll do that and I hope to never touch that tool again. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 05:10, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
