Disambiguation link notification for March 15[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Stjepan Mohorovičić, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Croatian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:30, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Haldir Marchwarden, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the WikiProject Croatia! WikiProject Croatia is a WikiProject whose aim is to improve the quality and coverage of articles related to Croatia and the Croats. It is chiefly designed to help users collaborate on articles, but also to resolve open questions and disputes, to establish project-wide conventions, and to coordinate work on vandalism clean-up.

WikiProject Croatia currently covers a total of 17,332 articles and 8,128 other related pages on the English Wikipedia.

We look forward to welcoming you to the project!

Mala scena[edit]

Hello, you've written a nice article there! I've just made a few corrections for you: we mostly use British English for articles about Croatia, also interlanguage links shouldn't be directly used in the article text, use the {{ill}} template, like this: {{ill|Croatian page name here|hr}}. You should also consider nominating the articles you make for the Did you know section (although translations like this aren't eligible, the text must be new). Cheers, DaßWölf 19:46, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wölf, thank you so much for your message and invitation! I will indeed check out the Croatian project. Best wishes.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 22:18, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Siqin Gaowa Homecoming.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Siqin Gaowa Homecoming.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 23:41, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the messages Whpq. I attempted a reply to keep at least File:Siqin Gaowa Homecoming.png. Shouldn't it be considered suitable for the infobox, maybe I can move it from the ib and incorporate it in the article.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 23:52, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It would not meet WP:NFCC#8. There is no significant sourced commentary about the image -- Whpq (talk) 00:12, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to expand the article quite a bit, and I will treat Homecoming too. I should've expanded the article first... If the image is deleted before I finish, may I re upload it? And, anyway, is it possible to keep the image inside the infobox? Thanks.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 00:16, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The use of the image must meet all of the non-free content criteria at the time it is used. The file won't be deleted for 2 days. -- Whpq (talk) 00:50, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, got it, thanks--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 09:40, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Yan Huizhu opera singer.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Yan Huizhu opera singer.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 00:03, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Požega City Theater moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Požega City Theater, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Sino-Roman relations into China–Italy relations. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:15, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations[edit]

Hello. Please refrain from making unfounded accusations against other editors. It's about this edit - diff. Content removal was adequately explained. Please, read the edit summary. --Renat 13:25, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm so sorry RenatUK, I wasn't aiming at your edit, but at the last edit which I reverted, the one removing content from the lead. I used the same justification for all edits simply to write something and get there; I also used the wrong word (which I later changed), because even that edit was explained, it just wasn't a valid justification in that case. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 13:34, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On summarising sources[edit]

Hi Haldir Marchwarden, thank you for your working on the new article Nökör. I've noticed that you followed one of the sources, the Brtiannica article, very closely. Welcome, Haldir Marchwarden! One of the nice things about Wikipedia is that there's someone who likes doing almost anything. It took me a while to believe that there were actually people who enjoy correcting the spacing in reference formatting, but it is so! They probably find it odd that I enjoy the stuff I do, too. So if you just do the tasks you like, and others do the same, almost everything will get done. You are a volunteer, doing this for fun. That said, we help one another. Feel free to post to my talk page, if you run across anything where it might be helpful to you. HLHJ (talk) 04:33, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Italian-Croatian topics[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you contributed now a couple of articles that appear to have had some sort of a weird Italian nationalist slant in places, earlier Vincenzo Duplancich and now Francesco Carrara (archaeologist). It seems these are being translated, so it's not clear if the extraordinary statements are present in the source text or added by you. Assuming good faith, it's the former, but still, please make an effort to weed out the POV claptrap when working on this. Thanks! --Joy [shallot] (talk) 21:41, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Joy, thanks for your message. Like I mentioned in the edit summaries, those two articles were translated from wp:it. Everything was taken from there. Specifically, regarding Francesco Carrara's paragraph Nationality, I agree with what the Italian editor wrote, which is why I din't cut that part. On the other hand, I also agree with you, and I think the paragraph needed sources and perhaps some rewording. However, I would've used templates instead of removing it.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 23:22, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I mean it's quite clearly controversial, Duplancich's article currently references glaringly over-the-top rude statements from Tommaseo. Documenting this 19th century discourse is legit as such, but it should be done with modern-day secondary sources, as opposed to direct quotes, because parroting these views verbatim hardly contributes properly to the modern-day reader's understanding of these issues. Surely some Italian social scientists talked about these issues in the last century and a half?
This is especially so for the case of Carrara, where the cited source literally did not do this purported cultural appropriation - I did not proofread all of it but I searched through it for typical signs of nationalism, but couldn't find much - it just seems like a reasonably neutral literary text, with nearly a hundred references to a variety of Croatian and Italian sources. If you can't verify a reference because it's not written in a language you can read, yet it's supposed to confirm a claim that is obviously going to be contentious, please tag it accordingly yourself.
If you agree with what is written it has to be based on some facts, and citing these facts is not optional just because you're translating. English Wikipedia has policies on verifiability and sourcing that may well be less lax than what exists on the Italian one, and your translation here binds you to these rules, there is no exemption for any translations from other foreign-language Wikipedias. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 19:00, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Joy For Duplancich: I agree Tommaseo's quote is outdated; it's fine if you want to delete it, as far as I'm concerned (I did not add it only to leave it unexplained by secondary-sources' text; rather, the quote itself was a means to make the reader better understand what stated by Treccani, that is to show how Tommaseo disagreed with the Voce dalmatica--He collaborated to the creation of the weekly La voce dalmatica, promoting collaboration between Italians and Croatians, which was criticized notably by Tommaseo). As for Carrara: I forgot to check those references, lost as I was in translating the article and solving other problems relating to translation. After all, it all seemed reasonable to me. It's true I kind of agree with what that paragraph state(d) in the sense that I think Carrara was of Italian nationality (though his mother, Katerina Korda, might've been Croatian), and that if it's true that "some Croatian scholars have tried to insert his work into Croatian culture," as the paragraph stated, than I would frown upon such wrongdoing and, if the thing has been covered to some extent, which I do not know, mention it in the article. Anyway, it's all beside the point because what you are saying is right, the bit needed more sources to be kept.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 19:36, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the quote certainly supports the claim Tommaseo disagreed :) but this is a great example where a secondary source would be preferable to the primary source.
The discussion on Carrara's ethnicity seems vaguely interesting to me, and I'd have no problem in examining it together with you, but history teaches me that if we just left it like it was, it would lead to pointless flamewars between anonymous editors with an axe to grind. As a community, we've lost an inordinate amount of volunteer time and effort trying to figure out how to make e.g. Roger Joseph Boscovich's biography not be a shitshow, and there's sadly many other examples. It's just better to be safe than sorry. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:34, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Joy Like I said, for Tommaseo it's fine, and what you say makes sense. For Carrara, if the the content was not supported by the sources or they weren't reliable it was right to delete the bit. And I also get what you are saying. So Carrara's article is fine now to me too. As for the ethnicity: interestingly, the article at wp:it mentions a "Croatian Katarina Korda." However, she is not mentioned in the Italian Encyclopedia nor, apparently, in any source. Curious that wp:it reports this.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 20:50, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, List of Russian Cities Far and Near, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs to be clearer on what the topic is, and avoid referring to things in "This article" that are not in the article. User:力 If by "this article" you refer to the sentence "This article lists the names of Russian cities, sometimes with brief mentions of the presence of stone", then "article" is a badly used synonym of "report", that is, the 14th-century list in the manuscript, not Wikipedia's article.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 09:10, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh? I thought it was a translation of the ruwiki article, which goes on to have a list of Russian cities. The topic should be notable, but the article does need cleanup (ideally inline referencing for something, plus the bibliography shouldn't be in Cyrillic) before I will move it back to mainspace myself. Feel free to ping me directly if you want a review; you can also use WP:AFC but that sometimes takes over 3 months. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 16:03, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dalmati[edit]

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Gedik Ahmed Pasha, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Demetrios1993 (talk) 15:16, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

After I first warned you that I would report you, you posted this on my talk page. Smart. Now you made me decide to post this on yours, and to report you. I reiterate that what you have to understand is that you cannot put fake claims in Wikipedia or delete sourced content just because you don't like it.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 15:24, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am not the one who is trying to force a certain version. I have told you to engage in the talk page, yet you went straight-ahead to reinstate your problematic version, thinking that this would somehow stay as it is? Again, try and find consensus in the respective talk page. If you continue, the article will most likely be protected from further disruption. Demetrios1993 (talk) 15:29, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What does it mean "trying to force a certain version"? Maybe it's you who see things differently. Here I am only reporting what the sources say (with quotes), while you want to delete what the sources and the quotes say. My version is not problematic. It had a few repetitions which I removed. All the rest is supported by sources. Period. Deal with it. What is problematic is that you made claims of "Serb ethnicity" for this individual, and now you are constantly reverting any changes that disrupt the way you (not scholars) see things.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 15:36, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Demetrios1993 (talk) 16:06, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary sanctions notification[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Balkans or Eastern Europe. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

FDW777 (talk) 15:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notification FDW777. Thanks goodness I am not from the Balkans, have nothing to do with them, and have no interest in them whatsoever. That said, I have a penchant for detecting lies and barbaric revisionisms. My interest is undoing them. I will be bold and go on editing in good faith. In this specific case, it is the opinion of the majority of scholars that the serbians were defeated by the Ottomans. I will soon edit that article again, as best as I can, providing as many sources as I can, so that it may reflect what the majority of scholars think. Have a nice day.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 20:31, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is the opinion of references #1 through to #5 cited at Battle of Kosovo#Notes & References that the result of the battle is inconclusive. If you wish to maintain you have no interest in the Balkans so be it, but that article is very much covered by the case. FDW777 (talk) 20:43, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I could provide the opinion of 1# through reference 600# that the Holocaust didn't happen. Would you have that published? Now, in this case, it is probably the opinion of the Serbians and some author trying to make some other kinda point that the result was a draw (just like it is the opinion of the Croats that Francesco Patrizi and Marco Polo were Croatian). However, the opinion of the majority is that the Ottoman won, and the fact that Britannica states that should suffice. I will soon provide 1# through 10# cited references to have the shared opinion published, and also review the article. Have a nice day.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 21:01, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you read WP:ONUS before continuing to make disputed edits. FDW777 (talk) 16:14, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FDW777, We are already discussing the matter at the article's talk page, you didn't have to come here again. I am making my edits in good faith, and before getting consensus I must needs propose something (as stated in my edit summary: "Expanded and corrected the article. To the editor who previously reverted my edit and spoke of "one-sided view" I want to point out that, e.g., only the Serbian army is described in the lead. If they or someone else revert this edit, I wont' do the same, but I'll be able to use this version in the discussion". Maybe you didn't see. But please, be civil and don't use expressions like: removed addition giving a hopelessly one-sided view and a gigantic failure of. Don't make accusations. Thanks.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 16:32, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring at Gedik Ahmed Pasha[edit]

Hello Haldir Marchwarden. You've been warned for edit warring on this article per a complaint at the noticeboard. You are risking a block if you change the article again without getting a prior consensus for your change on the article talk page. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 16:12, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi EdJohnston, I thank you for the notification. At the end of the day, my only concern is that the Encyclopedia is improved, doesn't contain fake news and other garbage, and all people, especially those who are not able to defend or speak for themselves, get their fair share, and that is what drives my continual editing of articles and creation of new ones. Understood, I won't edit the article again. Have a wonderful night/day.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 20:19, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

September 2021[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Ahmet Q. (talk) 22:49, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ehm, so this guy deletes content I added without explanation; I invite them to discuss the matter at the talk page, and they ask me to stop edit-warring. Great.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 23:02, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Silver Deer of Bilge Khan[edit]

On 6 September 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Silver Deer of Bilge Khan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Silver Deer of Bilge Khan, a 7th-century artifact, is recognized by the Mongolian government as being of "invaluable heritage"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Silver Deer of Bilge Khan. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Silver Deer of Bilge Khan), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Admin help[edit]

for troubles at Muhammed Ali Pasha.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 00:11, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have no clue what you want.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:17, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Bbb23Are you an admin? If so I am having trouble with a group of users who don't allow me (and other editors) to publish other viewpoints in the article. It is not about discussing, because by rejecting to include other viewpoints I believe they fail in WP:NPOV. Even if not, there is more fundamental concept which is Nemo iudex in causa sua. How am I supposed to discuss about the origin of what they claim to be an Albanian with three Albanian users? I don't know Wikipedia by the book, but there must be something to undo what they are doing, so i'm asking an admin to help me address the problem properly.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 00:31, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice that you are now subject to an arbitration enforcement sanction[edit]

The following sanction now applies to you:

You indefinitely are banned from editing or discussing anything to do with the WP:BALKANS (WP:ARBEE) topic area, broadly construed

You have been sanctioned per this thread at AN. You've repeatedly ignored warnings against the ethno-national personalizing of of disputes, and when told of needing to familiarize yourself with the basics, had responded with I don't have basics and all the axioms and I am not able to study them now and in the future. That does not inspire confidence.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at WP:BALKANS#Final decision and, if applicable, the procedure described at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you.  El_C 13:33, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message and all you did Che ;).--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 13:43, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I've sanctioned countless users in my 17-year tenure as an admin and I think that this is the only one I've ever been thanked for. El_C 13:47, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It was ironic. Anyway, have a nice day and goodbye Che.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 13:55, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what irony is. See ya. El_C 14:19, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Keep on discussing is so stupid, isn't it?... well, you should. It's not as important as democracy, but it makes people laugh sometimes. Goodbye and have a nice day.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 14:23, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is when approached as a free-for-all. Like the practicality of applying the Athenian democracy model of individual Polis to, say, the American system of government, to use an extreme example. With hundreds of millions of people, it'd be chaos. And nothing would get done. Same no-chaos-please principle applies here. Not sure I'm able to explain it any more clearly, or that it's worthwhile even attempting further discourse about this with someone who expressly refuses to learn. See ya, again, I guess? El_C 14:32, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but what is your problem? I told you thanks. I understand how you feel, and your point, you already expressed it I believe. I also tried several times to explain that what was done is wrong because it is, chaos or non chaos. Hundreds of millions of people can believe whatever they want. Some beliefs have a reason to exist, and they are accepted, and spread, by scholars, who inspect the millions of beliefs for us, beside establishing new ones. What is wrong must be fixed. Now it's not on me anymore. I do need to learn the wikirules, but I don't need Che's advise, though I appreciate the thought. You don't need to move the discussion here on my talk page as well. If it's the last word you want then take it, just then go on with your business. Bye.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 14:59, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I'll leave you to it, then. But the C in El_C does not stand for Che, I thought I may as well put that out there. El_C 15:50, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You have a red picture of communist Che Guevara, popularly known as "El Che" on top of your talk page. Anyway, sorry for the misunderstanding, then.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 15:57, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's okay. In case you're interested, it stands for El Comandante, indeed like Hasta Siempre, Comandante, so not unrelated by any means, just not "Che." El_C 16:04, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not interested.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 16:09, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

September 2021[edit]

Your edit at Talk:List of Nobel laureates by country discussed Croatia and was therefore a violation of your topic ban regarding the Balkans. You seem to be doing good work otherwise, so instead of blocking you, I am giving you a warning. Until you successfully appeal your topic ban, you are not allowed to make any edits anywhere having to do with the Balkans, except in direct connection with clarifying or appealing the topic ban. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:51, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot mention Croatia? In an unrelated context while speaking about Algeria? Ma va a quel paese, va!--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 23:53, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That is correct. You cannot make any edit whatsoever anywhere on Wikipedia which discusses the Balkans. This prohibition is absolute, with the exceptions mentioned above. Ban means ban. Discuss Algeria all you want, but nothing related to the Balkans. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:05, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, if you are going to insult me, please do so in English. I do not speak Italian. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:11, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I meant to say like "go take a little hike with these crazy rules". But actually, it's not you who make these rules. So thanks for letting me know, anyway. I just hope Wikipedia is in good hands. Or at least not in Cheguevara's and Ahmed's hands.--Haldir Marchwarden (talk) 00:15, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please avoid comments that can reasonably be construed as personal attacks against your fellow editors. This is a collaborative worldwide project that includes people of many backgrounds and opinions. Personal attacks are not permitted. Che Guevara died in 1967. Please read[edit]

Hahahhah, El C... Not even mass-murder Che was that biased tho.[1] Would you mind not bringing up politics or any unrelated characterizations in ANI discussions again? And what were you even trying to say by that “mass murderer” emphasis and comparison? I'm so puzzled. ZaniGiovanni (talk) 13:43, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have strong assumptions about their political (reactionary) views[2] Just like El_C, they are entitled to have their views on communism / Che Guevara (you just have to look at Haldir's user page) and even make bad jokes, but you should not assume they are reactionary. Stating their views are reactionary tells more about your position in the spectrum than theirs... I am myself an anti-communist, and a liberal.
Che Guevara is considered a "mass-murderer" by some, the admin is called "El_C" and display a picture and quote of / by Ernesto "Che" Guevara. They and El_C bickered a few weeks ago and Haldir called them "Che Guevara" in a derogatory sense. Because El_C says I'm glad I missed this one. It would have been unpleasant (again)., Haldir says: "even the mass murderer Che Guevara was more impartial". That is, even a "bad guy" like a "mass-murderer" was less biased than this admin+stupid pun. It's not hard to get...
How is this "Please read" intervention helpful? When you created this section Haldir was blocked, and they just virtually lost two debates. See WP:STICK.
Haldir: ZaniGiovani shouldn't have published citations out of context on your talk page, not even "out of curiosity". But you react in bad manner. Ignore them. Only politely answer the admins at the ANI page.--44gattiinfilax6 (talk) 12:41, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@44gattiinfilax6 or should I refer to you as Haldir, I don't recall me talking about “entitlements” and whatnot, not sure why you're replying to me with that. I don't care what is “considered” or your opinions about Che, that wasn't the point of my reply. The comparison with El_C weirdly emphasizing "mass murder” had no place and certainly not in ANI, hence the reason of my message to Haldir. And yes, they should read my message carefully and not bring politics or any “mass murderer” comparisons to fellow wikipedians in ANI, or anywhere else on Wikipedia for that matter. Thanks for your help & consider a few things[edit]

As a previously uninvolved observer, I can only say that I appreciate your work as much as I dislike your attitude at times (then I'm not a fan of Zlatan). You gave great contribution, and if you just were a bit politer and didn't bog down in details (like if one is "Sogdian" or "Kurd") it'd be perfect.

I observed your last discussions... I can tell you new users and experienced users are indeed treated differently. Most of the time, it helps do deal quickly with accounts created to vandalize, win debates, spam, etc. If you argue against an experienced editor who's in friendly terms with an admin you previously insulted, you're literally shooting yourself in the foot. Had you been politer with other editors from the very beginning, maybe you hadn't even lost the debates. This is just one more reason to be polite.

Be also aware that nobody is always right. Sometimes they'll disagree with us, and the community'll take decisions we don't like, and we'll have to deal with it. No matter how "unfair" it looks.

When admins get involved, being polite is imperative. Do not irritate them, please. I look forward to see more good work from you. I personally appreciated your translations from Italian, particularly the articles about Venice. Keep up the good work. Carlo Boccadoro moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Carlo Boccadoro, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:36, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The page Aldo Duro has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguated only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ended in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguated zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • was a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that did not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review.
