Tracie Young protection[edit]

After a quick look through the history of the page, a request in all likelihood would be denied. Going only by this year's edits, which there are not that many, there has been little true vandalism. Attempts, though not done well, to improve the article are not vandalism, only things like writing poop or erasing large chunks of the article are really vandalism. Adding unsourced info or making spelling mistakes is not vandalism (unless there is an attempt to attack the subject with unfounded allegations). Also, semi-protection only prevents new users and people without an account from editing, so basically only those making IP edits would be prevented from editing the article, and here IP editors have made some good edits. But in general, you need to have daily or weekly vandalism to an article to get semi-protection, or for a WP:BLP you might get it if there is a rash of seriously allegations being added to the article over a short time (long-term, persistent vandalism or abuse by a single editor or small group of editors can also lead to semi or full protection). But as semi-protection usually only lasts 30 days, more drawn out vandalism over months can easily be reverted and semi-protection would expire before it prevented anything. Hopefully this helps, and let me know if you have any questions. Happy editing. Aboutmovies (talk) 19:54, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First, you can link Wikipedia articles just by adding the article title (the big, bold part all by itself at the very top) in a double set of brackets like this [[Tracie Young]] which then makes it look like Tracie Young. No need to copy the URL. As to the template at the top, we often call them tags, anyone can remove them once the issue is resolved. But newer editors should be cautious and check with another editor first, preferably the editor who added the tag (which you can find by looking at the article's history page), at least until they become more familiar with all the guidelines and policies to make sure the tag does not actually apply any more. With the Young article, it looks like it has developed more sources and thus I have removed the tag. Could use some more though to improve the overall quality. Hopefully this helps.
