Mary Ramsey[edit]

Thanks for your updates to Mary Ramsey. I was unaware of the case standards for headings. Can you tell me where I can find them? Thanks. GullyWalker (talk) 11:47, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to help! Wikipedia's title and heading style is sometimes called "sentence capitalization", in which you write the title or heading as you would if it were a sentence (or at least the beginning of one); i.e., only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized. Anything that resembles a heading, like the lead-in to a list or an image caption, should be treated the same way.
In case you hadn't already run into it, the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (aka WP:MOS) is the main page for all formatting and style guidelines. Its "Article titles, headings, and sections" section gives a summary that includes case guidelines. Since WP:MOS and its related pages are an enormous collection, Help:List of Manuals of Style gives a more succinct list of specific areas, with links to the related pages or sections within pages. Here are a few relevant ones I see, along with some of their shortcuts:
I hope you find this information useful. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 18:24, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Liner notes[edit]

Victory Gardens Liner notes are a perfectly acceptable source--there's nothing wrong with citing them. I removed that section because the liner notes weren't used as actual inline references and there really isn't much that strictly needs to be cited, as far as I'm concerned. To me, it seems patently obvious that you would get the personnel section from the liner notes, so either having a section that cites them or including inline references that all lead back to a {{Reflist}} that is just composed of the liner notes is not really helpful. In my estimation, liner notes only need to be cited if they provide something unexpected, but not if they tell you track lengths, who wrote which song, or where and when an album was recorded. If you want to revert me, I'll let it stand (and it's better safe than sorry when it comes to references), but that was my thinking. Thanks for asking. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 15:50, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for June 6[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Playing Favorites (10,000 Maniacs album), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Love Among the Ruins, Rainy Day and More Than This. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:25, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Durham boat on the St. Lawrence[edit]

I've added a likely attribution for this immage at commons.wikimedia; the artist appears to be Henry Byam Martin. Please take a look. If you agree, the caption in the Durham boat article should be revised a bit. Cheers, Easchiff (talk) 10:59, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Quiet Girl has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet WP:NALBUM.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:01, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
