The article Downtown Art Park has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable sources to establish notability of a venue/event.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. tedder (talk) 07:15, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Though the Downtown Art Park venue was created to allow unknown talent an opportunity to express themselves in a public setting. This event is on it's way to becoming a cultural landmark in Downtown LA; the Art Park is in the process of becomeing a tourist destination for anyone visiting Los Angeles. This elevates it to something more than just a simple event. However, even though I'm not a wiki-expert, I will try my best to format the article so it adheres to the guidelines a bit better.   1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

A tag has been placed on Citizen LA, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. I'm not exactly sure why Citizen LA is being deleted. This company has become an institution and a beacon for the unknown artists of Los Angeles. Citizen LA is as important, if not more important, and relevant than LA Weekly. Gstiehl (talk) 19:50, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The primary reason I tagged it for deletion is that the entire text of the article is a verbatim copy from a copyrighted source. Please see the policy about copyright violations. Additionally, the article is written like a brochure; it even says "our contributors...." Until someone can take the time to put the effort into this article that the subject deserves and write a well-sourced (see wp:GNG, please) encyclopedic article about it then it is unlikely this article will last very long. Thanks, ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 19:58, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but I'm not sure exactly what "material" to what you are refering. The original copyrighted source for the material is completely original and came from me. However, even though I'm not a wiki-expert, I will try my best to format the article so it adheres to the guidelines a bit better. 76.166.101.177 (talk) 21:12, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article was essentially a verbatim copy of this. If you wrote that, then it might be helpful to read Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials, but it's probably easier to just completely rewrite the text for Wikipedia. Again, though, please note wp:COI - it is poor form to write about a subject you are closely associated with. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 21:26, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I wrote all that text. If needed, I will re-write it for Wiki. I added Citizen LA to Wiki because it's an important cultural entity and deserves to be mentioned in Wiki. I'd like others to add to the text, but it must begin somewhere. Citizen LA must remain active. How can I ensure this? (Your help is much appreciated.)Gstiehl (talk) 21:34, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the article due to the copyright violation. The easiest course, as you note, would be to rewrite the material. If you insist on using the copyrighted text, thought, follow Erik Haugen's advice and visit Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials. Remember, though, that anything you post here can (and will) be edited by others. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 13:02, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To answer your question, in addition to the copyright issue, the article will need references to significant coverage in reliable, independent sources to help establish notability and enable readers to verify the contents. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 17:28, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Downtown Art Park has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Downtown Art Park requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
