DYK review of Washington State Route 539

Hey there, I followed up on your request for a second opinion over at Template:Did you know nominations/Washington State Route 539. I'm just wondering if you were wanting another editor to finish the review or if you were just looking for comments on the issues brought up there. I'd be happy to finish the review if the former was your intent. Cheers, ❯❯❯ Mccunicano☕️ 14:00, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

@Mccunicano: Oh, yes, sorry I thought someone would take it from there. I haven't done many reviews and this one ended up being more difficult than I imagined. Grk1011 (talk) 14:31, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
No worries, I'll go ahead and conclude the review. ❯❯❯ Mccunicano☕️ 14:39, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Featured list for List of ESC entries?

Hey hey! So I've been thinking about the List of entries in the Eurovision Song Contest article that I did a lot of work on a few months ago, and I was considering putting it forward for featured list status. I think the content is there, but I have a slight concern there could be some pushback on the explanation of the number calculations. While the rules certainly add up with the numbers on the official website, I fear that because it's not been spelled out in a ref that it might cause it to fail. I've tried to ref potentially controversial statements as best I can with what's available but I'm still a little unsure, especially when it comes to the 2020 entries, and I know I could explain these things during the review. I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts on this as I really think it would be a good addition to our group of good and featured articles and lists! Sims2aholic8 (talk) 22:04, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

@Sims2aholic8: Simple calculations are allowed without a source, but I get what you're saying about it potentially being challenged. Like "entry 456" in the contest isn't really a thing if you were to refer to it in that way. What I found in my recent GA for San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest was that the languages aren't typically included in the Eurovision.tv source, so that might be a problem. However, Romania was able to become a FL without sources for them. It may be one of the differences between articles and lists. Not sure. I also think that overall, we give too much weight to phrases in other languages. I personally don't find them notable. I would suggest nominating the article and getting feedback as part of that process. I don't think it's anywhere near a quick fail so hopefully a reviewer would be able to provide helpful suggestions. Grk1011 (talk) 17:26, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your insights, really helpful! I'll go ahead and nominate it now, and as you said hopefully any feedback through the process will resolve these outstanding points. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 18:45, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Changing work to publisher in CS1

Hi! I noticed that you recently changed the |work= (or |website=) parameters on Eurovision Song Contest 2021 to |publisher=. However, if I understand WP:CS1 correctly, if the name of the work and the publishing company is the same (for example, the website and company both called Eurovoix), then the publisher parameter should be omitted. So I think that in this case |work= would be correct. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 17:14, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Jochem van Hees: If you look back at my edit, I didn't change any |work= parameters to |publisher=. All of the changes were removing |website=, which is something I've been asked to do in many of the GAs that I've worked on. I'll admit that the work vs publisher is still a bit confusing to me, so there may have been a few that should have been |work= instead! Grk1011 (talk) 02:00, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
Ah okay. Yeah it confuses me too sometimes but I think I understand it better now. |website= is an alias of |work=, so if you're removing website it's safest to change it to work instead of publisher. I cannot find anything about |website= being bad or something though. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 09:57, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
@Jochem van Hees: I think |website= encourages editors to format it like a website url when we want to see it written as an entity/business. |work= makes that more clear? Grk1011 (talk) 13:14, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
That makes sense I guess. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 13:16, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

Bit of friendly advice?

Hope you're doing well mate! Hoping you can help me out with a tricky situation that I've found myself in. I have been modifying quite a few "country in contest by year" articles, tidying up categories and table formatting etc. I appear to have irked another user who is objecting to some of the things I have been doing, not entirely sure why. There may be the odd time I have overlooked some formatting aspects during my modifications but this user has become quite passive-aggressive in his edit summaries when reverting my edits or "cleaning up" my mistakes. You can see here in the user's user's contributions some of the stuff he has been writing. I've put a message on his talk page just asking him to come to me if he has any issues or go through the WikiProject, but I'd quite like to hear your thoughts in case things escalate further. Thanks! EYM 2022

What I obviously meant in my edit summary is, isn’t it so automatic that the host country participates that it is hardly going to be mentioned anywhere (unless of course the confirmation comes before the host country is determined)? And how does one need a source when it’s never occurred that a host country has not also taken part? 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 15:48, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

@IvanScrooge98: I agree that it is highly likely that they will compete since they're hosting, but I find it very odd that not only has there not been a single news article saying so, but the Norway source specifically says that only Norway has confirmed, which also somehow became the initial source for the entire event. So basically there is a listed source that says otherwise as bizarre as that sounds. To make an assumption that they will partake would be a clear case of WP:SYNTHESIS since no source has directly mentioned participation. I think this will iron itself out in the coming weeks, but for now I don't see how we can leave have it in the article. Grk1011 (talk) 18:59, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
Uhm, I understand. It is odd indeed, even though as I stated before the French participation may have been left unsaid as implied for the host. But since it is already curious enough that the Norwegian (rather than the French) broadcaster was the one announcing the new venue, it wouldn’t be the only thing to make little sense. Let’s wait then. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 19:12, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!

"Not the real Swedish chart"

I'm very confused about this assertion. How is a chart published by the official chart provider of Sweden, Sverigetopplistan, not the "real" chart? What do you mean by "the real chart"? Not the main singles chart? Nobody said it was. When I said, "charted in Sweden" in my revert of Sims2aholic8 (whose edits I still intend to further go through some time down the line, by the way, and I hope you saw that all the nominations you copy-pasted a paragraph for "redirect" on yesterday were all kept), I did not mean the main singles chart. I was wrong about the chart position when I added it five years ago, sure (it's been corrected now), but it is still a valid chart. That would be like saying a chart that's not the main Hot 100 but still published by Billboard is not "real". This is very strange. If you disagree about bubbling under/heatseeker charts being "real", please raise it at Wikipedia talk:Record charts. Ss112 11:30, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Sounds good. I think I misread how component charts are handled. In the future I would appreciate WP:AGF instead of coming to scold me for something so minor (and to brag about an AfD outcome). Grk1011 (talk) 12:59, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Andromache and Ela

Hello there. Could you please change the ethnicity part at Andromache (singer) and Ela (Andromache song)? I've tried multiple times to but there's a guy who is constantly reverting my edits without providing any explanation. I'm the same guy that had done the edits at Demy (singer) and Yiannis Parios articles and you reverted the aforementioned one at the correct version, that's why I'm texting you. Plus, that user has constantly skipped the MOS:BLPLEAD rule that clearly says "Previous nationalities or the place of birth should not be mentioned in the lead unless relevant to the subject's notability." Andromache has only lived in Germany for a couple of years in her life, same as Antonis Remos, Despina Vandi and Melina Aslanidou who are all referred as Greeks in the lead with their birthplace mentioned at bio info. Thank you in advance and Happy Easter (as far as I remember you are Greek) :) 5.55.195.83 (talk) 13:48, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

@5.55.195.83: I'm not sure that there are good enough sources to pick a side in this. I do believe that some of the edits you have made were indeed helpful and that's why I reverted to your version, but I don't want to get in the middle of a nationality debate. The other articles you mentioned may just not have been noticed, not that they are correct. I personally don't have a preference either way. Grk1011 (talk) 20:19, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

The fact was ... that after using a talent show to select Apostolos Psichramis to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, the Greek broadcaster instead sent Sakis Rouvas? Hi, I can see that you reverted my edit on San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The difference from the "points awarded" section is that all ranks from 1 to 17 are included, not just the top 10, and that is information we didn't have.  Andreyyshore 🆃︎ 🅲︎  17:08, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

@Andreyyshore: Got it. I'm not sure if that's super important given that we still don't have the breakdown by juror, but I've restored it for now while I think about how it can be better presented (if there is any other way). I need to get this article to GA soon, so I will be looking at it in more detail in the coming weeks. Grk1011 (talk) 17:21, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Your reversion on Green Line (MBTA)

I do recognize that the garage itself was not MBTA-owned, but the collapse caused Green Line service to be suspended for two weeks. This incident affected service on the Green Line to a similar degree as some other incidents listed in this section.

Other mass transit pages mention instances of structural collapses above transit facilities that interfere with the service of the transit below, so the garage not being MBTA-owned should not disqualify the event from being mentioned on that page.
