Notability of Guyz Nite[edit]

A tag has been placed on Guyz Nite, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Guyz Nite[edit]

This article was not speedily deleted because of the claim that one of its songs was used in a movie trailer. However, I could not independently confirm this claim, so I nominated it for a deletion discussion. Discussion on AfD[edit]

Hi! I saw your comment on the AfD discussion for Guyz Nite. Don't worry about being new - we all were once ;) Just dive right in and have your say. AfD is not a vote (Wikipedia is not a democracy), so theoretically the closing admin will not just count up the opinions but also read the arguments and base their decision on that. If you don't mind me offering some advice, looking at the article history, you used myspace as your main source. This is probably why other editors don't feel that notability has been established, because myspace is not considered a reliable, independent source for information (it's either been created by the band itself or by fans, and is therefore biased). The band would need to meet one of the 12 criteria at WP:MUSIC to be considered notable.

Don't feel too bad if the article doesn't survive AfD - many of the best contributors to Wikipedia have lost articles along the way. All the best ;) EyeSerene^TALK 18:08, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
