If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Green Pajamas, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Little Red Riding Hoodtalk 05:02, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Green Monkey promotion[edit]

Wikipedia is not a platform for advertising. Please stop hyping your label in Green Pajamas. In an article about Jeff Kelly's band, the label name "Green Monkey" still occurs over 20 times, compared to "Jeff" at only 17 times. I cannot imagine why that seems less than sufficient.

If you can produce well-sourced information about the Green Pajamas' relationship to Green Monkey (or preferably, other worthwhile information about the band), that might merit inclusion in the article. However, efforts to shoehorn the label name into more sentences is simply spamming. / edg 11:19, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well I was quite surprised to read this as I've not considered their discography any kind of label promotion, just a standard discography. I don't contribute to the page very often. Happy to follow the spirit of Wikipedia. I will just take the Green Monkey listings out of the discography. If you want the Camera Obscura stuff to be unlisted as well, the owner Tony Dale is dead so I don't know about that.

I went into the page and changed all the Green Monkey references in the discography to "Seattle label." It looks a little odd when all the other labels they release stuff on are listed, but I will let you worry about that. Greenmonkeyrecords (talk) 04:01, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I should have been more specific. Edits like this one really have the effect of framing the article from entirely the perspective of the Green Monkey label. The phrase "The band connected with Tom Dyer's Green Monkey Records" tells the reader nothing in particular since the association is already made abundantly clear elsewhere in the article.
I'm reverting this edit — it's not helpful, and not what I meant. Thank you for your contributions. / edg 14:13, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
