ANI Experiences survey

The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

Heather Howitt article

hi I edited the article a little. Heather Howitt Could you let me know if there is anything I need to do for notability? I did the article because Heather Howitt is the main founder of the company Oregon Chai which has a wikipedia article. Tk8kpgt (talk) 05:47, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello, Tk8kpgt. The draft at User:Tk8kpgt/sandbox/Heather Howitt does not cite references which would demonstrate Ms. Howitt's notability (as Wikipedia defines that term). You should find three or more newspaper or magazine articles about Ms. Howitt (that are not interviews with her or her immediate family) and use those to cite information for the article. (The book you cite does not count towards notability because it was co-written by Heather Howitt and is thus not an independent source.) If you can't find any such articles, then Wikipedia cannot have an article about her. —GrammarFascist _contribs^talk 13:24, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello again,Tk8kpgt. The Portland Business Journal piece is an interview, which as I said does not go to notability, and as a primary source it is not preferred for verifying content that should be covered by a secondary source. [REDACTED - on blacklist, bot can't archive] source, by contrast, is a tertiary source; I've posted about it over at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Reference for Business's Encyclopedia of Business (Advameg). Finally, even though it is not in interview format, some editors may consider too much of the Oregon Business article to have come from Ms. Hewitt for it to be appropriately independent of her.

Don't be too discouraged, though; the Reference for Business page lists its own references, which mostly look promising. Only a couple of them seem to be online, but if you can get paper copies, perhaps from a library archive, the rest would be usable too. You can check whether the articles listed are online by searching on the article title, with quotation marks, on Google. You've got more work ahead, but you've made significant progress by finding the Reference for Business page which, even if it turns out not to be a reliable source, has still given us leads on more secondary sources to use. Keep me posted on what you find, and I'll let you know what the consensus at the noticeboard is once it develops. —GrammarFascist _contribs^talk 13:31, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much for this. Makes sense. It looks like the Reference For Business article was taken from Encyclopedia.com [1] All of the articles in the reference section are unavailable on the Internet. Even the MSNBC Power Lunch television interview with Heather is not available on the Internet. All are from 1995-1998. Would it be possible to cite the Encyclopedia.com references for the wikipedia article? What I put in Heather's article is in the Encyclopedia.com article...so the 5-6 references would cover everything that I put in the wikipedia article Tk8kpgt (talk) 03:31, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

I think at this time I want to move this discussion to the draft talk page, because I am going to go through all the sources listed on both the Reference for Business page and the encyclopedia.com article (there's some overlap but also some unique to one or the other) (sorry, I could've sworn they were different; I guess I didn't get enough sleep last night?) and list, for each one, whether it's available online and, if so, if it can be used to support Ms. Howitt's notability. Hello, Tk8kpgt. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. I still think the draft should be able to graduate to article status eventually, it just takes time for the editors working on the article to reach consensus with the editors reviewing the article about what the article should look like. On Wikipedia, there is no deadline. Hi GrammerFascist, looks like a failure. I tried everything I can, I'm inexperienced, and you also tried many things, but the article has been declined by the 2 editors involved. 3 months now with the process......seems like 3 months about. Hello, GrammarFascist. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
